Mack Brown can finally feed his children, Sprewell asks for a loan

The UT Board of Regents unanimously approved a new deal with Mack Brown yesterday that will keep Coach Clap strolling the 40 Acre sidelines through 2016. His base pay this year will be increased $2.81M plus an appearance fee of $100k for coaching this Saturday. Reports are that Brown intends to show up on Saturday. Brown will continue to get a standard $100k annual pay increase until they re-structure the deal again in the next 36 months.

Coach Brown said he intends to get some rims like Darren McFadden with the appearance fee dollars.

Most importantly, he earns retention bonuses on January 1, 2009 and January 1, 2010 of $1M and $2M, respectively. There is a solid reason to stay in good health. Psst, Greg, he isn't going anywhere.

They logged Mack Brown's home address

Brown's base pay has almost quadrupled since he came to Austin after the 1997 season for a measly $750k per year. Frankly, given that the Texas football program is slated to bring in about $40M in profits this year, I think Brown's cut is very reasonable.

In the same period between 1997 and 2007, Henry James' hourly wage has gone from $5.35 to $9.85. He was unavailable for comment.

The other coaches in that same $3M guaranteed stratosphere are Nick Saban ($4M), Bob Stoops ($3.5M), Urban Meyer ($3.3M), Pete Carroll ($3M), and reportedly Charlie Weiss (~$3M). One of these things is not like the other, Charlie. Here's to you posting a winning record this year.

Good stuff, Bobbah!

I’m curious: how many more years does Mack coach? I’ll put the over/under at 6.

Mack turned 56 two days ago. He clearly stays through the 09 season to pick up his $2M. That would put him at 58. I’d guess he hangs them up for the AD role in the following two years so, I’ll go UNDER, but not by much.

If Mack ends up as the AD, I’m not sure if I will be stunned or pissed.

Mack will need to go to speech therapy to acquire the necessary “whistle while you talk” signature if he wants to be AD.

Do you like popsicles?

Can you speak up, caller, I am having a hard time hearing you.

I am fine with Mack’s new deal and said so in the original post.

Oh, and the Des Moines Register reports that Kirk is guaranteed $2.7 per year. I doubt he got another bump after last year’s season.

by BRAGGonUT on Aug 30, 2007 9:29 AM CDT reply actions

What the fuck do you spend $2.7 million on in Des Moines?

by Minnesotahorn on Aug 30, 2007 10:15 AM CDT reply actions

cornpone, acting lessons, and single-strap overalls.

by SizzleChest on Aug 30, 2007 10:42 AM CDT reply actions

What the fuck is he doing spending it in Des Moines, anyway?

by captainamerica on Aug 30, 2007 2:07 PM CDT reply actions

Bah. Des Moines, Ames, whatever. You think YOU could tell them apart?

I bet you wish we had an edit function.

by Doperbo on Aug 30, 2007 3:05 PM CDT reply actions

I can tell that Kirk coaches in Iowa City.

by captainamerica on Aug 30, 2007 3:18 PM CDT reply actions

There are no WALMARTS in Ames. He and the Mrs. have to go to Des Moines to buy their corn in bulk.

by BRAGGonUT on Aug 30, 2007 3:27 PM CDT reply actions

If you live in Iowa and you buy your corn, you need to take your big city ways somewhere else.

by LonghornScott on Aug 30, 2007 8:51 PM CDT reply actions

no one actually buys corn in iowa, when you want some you just walk out in your front yard and pick some…
