Six Texas football players to miss spring drills
All are recovering from recent surgeries.
The six are sophomore DE Eddie Jones (left shoulder); junior LB Sergio Kindle (to repair cartilage in right knee); senior DE Aaron Lewis (broken left clavicle); junior Ishie Oduegwu (left shoulder); junior OT Adam Ulatoski (left knee) and sophomore WR Montre Webber (to repair a right foot fracture).
Jones' shoulder problems can now be safely described as an ongoing issue, and they may be the reason Texas is still trying to sign another defensive end for their recruiting class.
The combination of Oduegwu missing the spring and the graduation of Marcus Griffith and Erick Jackson, Texas will spend the spring trying to find some safeties. Good. The young guys have more upside.
And Webber's surgery couldn't have come at a worse time. He needed to emerge as a potential starter coming out of the spring.

How many scholarship safeties will we have available for spring practice? Some guys (one or both of the Browns) may have to crosstrain, which can only be a good thing.

Good thing we got those guys some good minutes this year, what with our three top safeties all being seniors and everything.

Lewis a senior and Oduegwu is a junior?
Where does the time go? Seems like yesterday we were just recruiting those dudes.

About the youth concerns at safety…um, my bad. See, what had happened was…

Hey, we understand. Bitches need to be kicked.

That was my line.
You’re probably getting us confused because we’re both black safeties with two first names.

Well, since it’s on the table I kind of prefer James Joseph and Robert Henry. Cool?
It will definitely confuse the bulls at whichever correctional facility you get assigned to.

Bad news for Ishie but overall good news for the Horns. Our young safeties offer a lot more upside potential.

The last thing Ishie needed was more time on the field this past year. And the last thing Scott needed was any time at all, given that he was lost during summer and fall practice. I doubt he’ll be here next fall.

It’s a shame about all the potential starting defenders missing the spring with a new DC coming in. I had hoped Kindle might finally get some real coaching on how to play linebacker.
