Bo Diddley, RIP
Another 1950s rock and roll icon is dead. He had an unmistakable rhythmic sound that influenced so many of the bands that came after him.
Fifties rock and roll changed everything. It was about rebellion. No longer were the kids listening to the same music as their parents. Just watch them go crazy in this clip.

‘I once had a heart
so trill and true
But now it’s gone
from me to you.
Take care of it
like I have done
For you have two hearts
and I have none.’

“I’m a roadrunner, honey
and you can’t keep up with me….”
damn I must have listened to that record a few thousand times after I discovered it at age 13. His guitar sound freaked my shit out. Can’t imagine how much it freaked people in 1958.
RIP Ellas McDaniel: square guitar, hip sound.
