The 'old' ball coach

Stay connected for news and updates

South Carolina got upset by Vanderbilt last night for the second year in a row. Vanderbilt. For the second year in a row.

Sucks to be Steve Spurrier. The guy who notoriously doesn't really concern himself much with anything on his team other than the offense was undone last night by special teams. And this was after brining in a new special teams coach from Maryland. Yanking a quarterback isn't going to fix things.

Spurrier is now 22-17 in his fourth year at South Carolina. He had a higher winning percentage at Duke.

It doesn't get any easier for the Gamecocks. They still have to play Georgia, LSU, Clemson, Tennessee and Florida. Their defense is pretty good, but defenses get tired when they don't get any help from the offense or special teams. So there will be more losses to come.

More from Garnet and Black Attack and Gamecocks Live.
