Why did Wisconsin go up in the poll so much? They played a hell of a second half, but looked mediocre at best most of the first half. And last time I checked, Marshall isn’t exactly a quality win. I’m not saying they don’t deserve to jump up that high, but I will reserve judgement till after they play Fresno State next week.

It’s a hell of a lot better this week than last week. Did everyone become a lot more reasonable or just more games have been played?

Michigan actually won a game. Victories lead to clearer thinking.

Call me crazy, but I don’t like OU being in the #2 spot until they play a road game with some sort of coherence/intensity. I know I’ve been going homerrific on them lately, but even I’ve got limits.

1) USC
2) UGA
3) OU
4) Florida
5) Mizzou
6) tOSU
7) LSU
8) Texas
9) Wisconsin
10) Oregon

DTomlinson:

Wisconsin was ranked between 8-12 by all of the bloggers except one who had them at 5. That’s what skyrocketed them.

I didn’t make the cutoff, but I will do one anyway, so as to keep up. Illinois dropping out is what confuses me.

Ohio State and Georgia are too high, Penn State, Wisconsin and Kansas are too low.

I know that Mizzou was supposed to be awesome but how do their two performances show the dominance on the level of a top 5 team? I mean, they scare the crap out of me (did we start 4 new Dbacks last week? Yes we did. I pooped myself), but do they remind anyone of Tech? No D, powerful O, tendency to lose big games (at least in the past).

Think about them going up against the next 6 teams in the lineup. They only have a chance against Wisconsin, and that’s ’cause I have no faith in the Big Ten. Them against rest of the top 20 is a coin flip at best. They may be that good, but to rank them there because they only lost to the one decent team they played last year seems silly.

Like I said, I could be wrong, but I think they get rolled among their current poll peers, so I’d drop them down. Other than that we’ll see.

On another note, I wish we could change schedules mid-season. East Carolina could be great but we’ll never know. They could sleepwalk through their schedule, own a Big East team in a BCS game and we’d still never know how good they were this year. They will probably drop one because they haven’t been here before, but their best against your best is better than the best of a lot of teams right now.

As long as I’m griping, I hate that the ACC/Big East get an automatic bid. They just really suck, and none of those teams would be in the top 4 of the Big 12 or SEC, and maybe not even the PAC 10 (home of 2 good teams and a bag of crap!). What I wouldn’t give for a 16 team playoff. Oh, and get a freaking conference playoff Big 10 and Pac 10, you shouldn’t play with the big boys unless you can play the best in your conference, and the way your schedules set up you don’t always have to play them.

Sorry, I’m full of piss and vinegar for some reason. Thoughts? Hook’em
