Somebody Out There Still Believes in Us!
Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News makes his case for keeping Georgia #1 in the AP poll.
For the record, if anyone was crazy enough to give me a vote, I would put the Dawgs at #3 behind USC and Oklahoma. I just think the guy makes an interesting point.

If Scott Wolf was writing for the Atlanta Journal Constitution his column would be a justification for his voting Georgia 6 — behind Florida and LSU.

Can somebody explain to me all the Texas Tech reporting and now this Georgia stuff too? I thought this was a Longhorn site.

Interesting point? He actually did not offer a single justification for ranking Georgia number 1.

I’m starting to question USC’s “super duper fantastic amazing” start.
They beat Virginia 52-7. Virginia then beat Richmond only 16-0 and then lost to Connecticut 45-10.
They beat Ohio State 35-3. Ohio State beat Youngstown State 43-0, but Youngstown State lost to South Dakota State 40-7 in their next game. Ohio State also beat Ohio 26-14. Ohio is now 0-3 after losing 21-20 to Wyoming and 31-28 to Central Michigan.
Yes, USC looks outstanding. But judging by results so far and not team names, they haven’t really played anyone. They certainly beat up the teams they played, though.

They also get Oregon, ASU, Cal and ND at home. They are a sure-fire, five star hammer lock for the the MNC game.

I see your points Huck, but you know as well as I do that the transitive theory doesn’t apply to CFB. You can throw it out the window.

It definitely seems that way Sailor, but you never know. They did lose to Stanford last year, after all. But it will probably take two losses to knock them out of the picture all together.

Transitive theory has nothing to do with it. These are the only games these teams have played so they are all we have to go on to determine which teams are the best this season without introducing preconceived biases.
And what I see is that USC throttled a truly shitty Virginia team and whipped a mediocre Ohio State team. I don’t see any evidence that Ohio State is better than mediocre at this point of the year. That certainly might not end up being the case, but what about a 12-point win over Ohio at home and an asswhipping against USC in a team’s only two games against 1-A competition shows that they’re a good team?
And if they’re not a good team, exactly what has USC accomplished so far this year other than looking good?

Whatever. Georgia and Texas Tech both suck. Fuck them both.
