Texas, North Carolina to Play Basketball -- In Jerry's World
Texas is in negotiations with North Carolina for a 4-game series, that would start with a game Jerry Jones' new stadium in Arlington.
The series would be set up where two games would be played at major sites off campus for each school and then have a another game on each others campus.
Jones is bidding for future Final Fours, and obviously this game would be a great showcase to see how it plays in Jerry World. The first game would be in December of 2009.
North Carolina is a consensus pre-season #1 for this year while Texas is ranked in the Top Ten is several pre-season polls and as high as #5. Both are also considered to have top recruiting classes for 2009.
This season Rick Barnes has put together a very competitive non-conference schedule. Texas plays in the Maui Invitational, where they could face Notre Dame in a semifinal and then possibly North Carolina in the final. The home game schedule has games against UCLA and Michigan State and there is a road trip to Wisconsin.

It is great to be a Longhorn. I hope we savor these times.

Will this not be an outrageously terrible venue for basketball?

They claim they can contruct it for about 40,000 to hold a Final Four event. Jerry is bidding for the event for about 6 or 7 years down the road.

Every dome sucks for hoops. This one will suck slightly less or about the same.
The phrase Jerry’s World conjures images of wall to wall topless dancers and good scotch.
