Live Texas Football Talk Tonight!
At 6:00 PST/8:00 CST/9:00 EST.
I'll be joining Peter Bean for a live podcast from the Burnt Orange Nation and Seth from Double T Nation as we talk last week's OSU game, the upcoming Tortillapalooza in Lubbock, and all talk a tremendous amount of shit about the Big 10.
We'll be doing live chat and taking phone calls.
Set aside the time now and I'll be providing the link up here as soon as Peter Bean conveys it.
Here's the recorded podcast to listen to at your leisure.
Hook 'em.

I will never read mass media sports coverage again.

Scipio is the San Francisco venture cap version of Lumburgh. Many a corporate buzzword at the tip of the tongue. Way too many powerpoints and product launches have corrputed his oral language. Great, great blogger, but I don’t want to hear my manager at work talk about Texas Football.

What if I leveraged my skills to build a paradigm of further synergies?

Do you have a pdcast I could listen to, missed the show being in Australia :(

Scip: That depends on whether you’ve gamed action items to maximize deliverables at a different order of magnitude.
by HornsLaw on Oct 28, 2008 9:11 PM CDT reply actions
I will link it up when PB generates it.
It also helps to have powerpoint.

You stole that grocery list thing from me.
I want my 40 acres and a mule.
by ChrisApplewhite on Oct 28, 2008 9:55 PM CDT reply actions
I totally did. I would have given a shout out to you, but then you made your bear post.
For the record: Chris Applewhite made the grocery list analogy and I stole it from him.
I did add the part about the milk and tampons.

Boooooooooooooooo-boo.
OK, we’ve devolved into puns. Maybe SB Nation made the right choice.

Am I insane or do Cosby, Shipley and Colt all now have clear NFL futures?
by Scipio Tex on Oct 28, 2008 11:37 PM CDT reply actions
This is becoming unbearable. Downright embarrassing if you ask me.
You all should feel like Cubs fans.
The podcast was fun though.

You guys compared this team to last year’s Patriots and compared Colt to Joe Montana. I really think we compare well to the Super Bowl Colts. The way Colt manages the offense really reminds me of Manning, and their two receivers (Harrison and Wayne) are a lot like Shipley and Cosby, not the fastest or biggest guys in the league but they run great routes, they never drop the ball and they seemed to always be on the same page with Peyton.

I put into my liveblog of the OSU game that Quan is the college Marvin Harrison. He isn’t fast or tall but his intangibles are practically tangible.
We have a QB and 2 WRs with an absolute mastery of the game of football on the team and it’s a joy to watch. They play like they travel back in time after each snap and run the play knowing what’s coming and what they need to do.
They trio probably makes each other look better than they actually are, but someone could talk me into Quan having a legitimate NFL career. Tell me a guy like Tom Brady or Donovan McNabb couldn’t make use of his skillset.
by ChrisApplewhite on Oct 29, 2008 12:24 AM CDT reply actions
Yeah, he needs to find himself in the right situation obviously. Preferably on a team with a dominant passing game. No use for him in Baltimore or Tennessee.

I listened until I heard something interesting. Only took about an hour.

Thanks for having me on and just to clarify, I don’t think Scipio Tex and PB are bastards, but I would have thrown a battery at you if given the opportunity.
by Seth C on Oct 29, 2008 6:35 AM CDT reply actions
Anybody that can run precision routes, catch every football within five feet of his hands and get from 0-10 yards as fast as Shipley will find a spot on an NFL roster.
Bein country tough ain’t hurtin either.

“If you’re a quarterback on ecstacy, does it make the hits feel better?”
classic.

Seth C:
It would have made for awesome radio if you had. Thanks for joining us, man. Good luck to your Raiders – next week.

Could’ve worked in a ‘You know how I know you’re gay?’ reference during the vodka tonic portion. Missed opportunity right there. Interesting discussion throughout.
PB’s Mack Brown is dead on BTW.

Man, it keeps reverting back to Colt as a login. Must be trying to tell me something.

I need to send the admin to this site something hilarious. How do I do that?
by Poor Aggies on Oct 29, 2008 11:59 AM CDT reply actions
Wander around the brothels of the Castro district until he catches your attention.
by Doperbo on Oct 29, 2008 12:06 PM CDT reply actions
Did I really just hear a 6 sigma reference in a football discussion?
by Stuck in MN on Oct 29, 2008 12:22 PM CDT reply actions
Hey, at least it’s not Landmark Forum like all the other California wahoos.
Need to make those double vodkas next time. And maybe some meth?

Why did I expect Scipio to sound exactly like TEX (Dr. Livingston)…?

ADDED.
PLEASE ENTER YOUR NEXT REQUEST.
(do they even do the TEX system anymore, or was that my 1990’s experience?)
by Scipio Tex on Oct 31, 2008 5:40 PM CDT reply actions
They discontinued TEX a few years ago. Maybe around 2003. Could have been 04. It was a sad, sad day in Longhorn history.
On a complete side note, I was in choir at UT and sang at all the big graduation celebrations every year. One year, one of the speakers was the guy who voiced TEX (I can’t remember his name for the life of me). The crowed went absolutely bonkers when he did his “Goodbye, and Good Luck.”
I was hoping they’d have preserved some of his more recognized phrases in audio format somewhere on the UT website. Never have been able to find it, though.

Sasha, I’ll call a friend in the Tower on Monday and see if I can’t get something for you.
Of course, if UT thought they could make money on a talking TEX bottle-opener, you’d see it on the Co-op shelves by Tuesday. (The “Good Luck” part would be nice for each new beer, by the way)
