My wife recently watched the ‘Sex and the City’ movie and she says John Sarah Jessica Parker Wilson was really good in it!

Down 11. If it keeps up, Utah is my national champion.

Lol, Utah is beating Bama by 11, not Florida or Oklahoma. GTFO.

Yeah, its a good thing your vote for National Champion means jack shit. Otherwise it would be wasted.

This is awesome.
Looks like Meyer/Mullen gave their friend Whittingham the scoop on this Bama team.

Looks like it, Utah’s playing good ball, and Bama…well they’re being mediocre atm.

Why should Utah NOT be the national champion if they win this ??
Played in a tough conference.
Would have beaten Oregon st who was one game away from PAC-10 title the last week of the year.
Would have beat Bama who was one win away from the SEC title and a trip to the championship game.
Would have beat TCU who should finish in the top ten in the final poll.
Will be 6-0 vs bowl teams. 1 of which is bama , the other 5 went 3-2 in their respective bowls.
They scheduled oregon state and michigan out of conference.
They are the sole undefeated team in the nation.
IF they win , why should they not be considered the champion based on accomplishment ?

I wouldn’t argue that. 13-0 with 2 wins over teams likely in the final top 10.
That’s sure as fonk as much as any B10/P10/ACC/BigEast would have been able to say had any of them won it the past few years.

They backed out of playing Texas this season…

Played in a tough conference my ass. BYU and TCU were the only real threats. Winner of UF and OU deserve the title, hands down. Two toughest conferences in the Nation and the cream of the crop from both.

I’d take Utah over a two loss national champion any year.
by Trips Right on Jan 2, 2009 9:59 PM CST reply actions
Queue the circular logic that claims the SEC is a tough conference because it’s made up of SEC teams.
by Trips Right on Jan 2, 2009 9:59 PM CST reply actions
I’d take Florida or Oklahoma, or even USC over Utah anyday, and that’s saying alot cause I hate USC with a friggin passion.

SEC Sucked this year, i’ll be the first to admit.
by SEC Fan on Jan 2, 2009 10:02 PM CST reply actions
Doesn’t make Florida any less worthy of the title if they beat Oklahoma.

SEC fan,
You’d probably take ou over Texas anyday because results on the field seem to mean very little to you.

And if i say the mwc is the best does it make it so ? Hell , lets not even play the games since the results on the field don’t matter. Lets just pick a champion. Hell .. lets say usc is champ since they have the best players… who cares what they actually do .. or better yet ,,,, lets give it to Georgia since they were the preseason pick .. the losses dont matter they are better than florida.
by comeonminers on Jan 2, 2009 10:03 PM CST reply actions
wow .. florida played 10 opponents who qualified for a bowl game and ou will make 11 … have to give them credit for that

Results? like a Florida team thats been absolutely steamrolling everyone since their loss to Ole Miss. Who beat Texas Tech might I add. I’m no Florida fan either. Hell my team didn’t even make it to a bowl game. But when you got Oklahoma number 1 in their conference, which is the toughest conference this year and has been the second toughest conference in the years past vs Florida in the SEC who might have sucked this year, but always been the toughest conference in years past, I don’t see how the winner of this game could NOT be named the National Champion.

And whether you like to think Utah maybe being the best team this season matters, It doesn’t. The rankings prove that.
by SEC Fan on Jan 2, 2009 10:10 PM CST reply actions
SEC, your last sentence makes my point for me.
by Trips Right on Jan 2, 2009 10:12 PM CST reply actions
I think the mwc went 2-0 against the SEC this year

I think I will use this in my Circular Logic class this semester.

can we declare the MWC the best conference? I’d totally put TCU and Utah up against the top 2 teams from any other conference.
by spoon fed on Jan 3, 2009 12:00 AM CST reply actions
So secfan, you pretty much admit that the conference pride is more important than school pride. Typical SEC circle jerk.
by bighornfan32 on Jan 3, 2009 12:04 AM CST reply actions
I don’t think that the MWC is better than the SEC but that is the point.
We don’t really know. That is what sport is supposed to be about. Deciding it on the field. What college football is right now as a system resembles olympic gymnastics or figure skating except now we don’t have the russian judge to beat but the california judge or the florida judge or the east coast bias judge.
We say in the preseason that the SEC is the best conference because it has so many great teams like georgia , auburn , tennessee , south carolina , florida , ole miss and LSU. Then when they play each other we say how each win is a quality win and each loss is a quality loss. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. Throw in the fact that these teams always start high in the rankings because of this perception. The problemis LSU , S carolina , tennessee and auburn were all shells of what we thought they would be. In other words , all of us prognosticators were wrong. Why are we so confident that we are right now ??
What more could the MWC do to prove it was worthy ? They sent a bottom feeder in the conference to tennessee and wyoming won. They bitch slapped the pac-10 back to the stone age.
Do i think that the mwc is the best ? no. Do i think utah is the best team ? no. But that is just my opinion. Based on what the teams have done , UTAH deserves to be champion over any other team in the nation.
What this clearly points out is that over half of the teams in college football are eliminated from the national championship before a game is ever played in late august or early september.
Giants beat the patriots.
Villanova beat Georgetown.
I even lost a debate to a sooner once ( just kidding ).
The whole purpose of sports is for it to be decided on the field and not by a group of biased writers , coaches and computers.
by Vegas Kyle on Jan 3, 2009 12:33 AM CST reply actions
I would agree with much of that, Kyle. Except the biased computers part.
The computers aren’t biased. They analyze the information just like humans tell them to. Take RIchard Billingsley, for example. He wanted a way to prove the OU teams of the mid-80s were the best teams ever. So he tinkered around with a computer poll in his garage to prove that.
And now, it’s being used to determine the best team every year.
The computer polls aren’t biased. The people that created them are.
