Florida Is #1

Raise your hand if you're a one loss team that beat OU on a neutral field by 10 points.

Congrats to the Gators and Christ-figure Tim Tebow.

when are you writing a fiesta bowl recap? I’ve been waiting like 3 days for one and commit to holding my breath until it gets posted here.

Nice…just realized that 24-14 was 10 points (the crown and coke has been flowing this evening). Thanks Scipio!

This season was great, it sucked there at the end, and it just got a lot better in the last three days.

Now I’m going to go watch Switzer explain the loss…awesome.

Oh yeah, bobby is headed to the NFL.

Love that ESPN got the first on-field intervew with Christ-figure Tebow as FOX was fellating him. FOX camera cut away from the shot of Tebow when the ESPN microphone popped up.

I’m not sure what was more painfull – the FOX broadcast or a barium enema I had about 15 years ago.

Neither of those teams looked elite to me.

Texas’ win over oklahoma was far more dominant , in fact you could argue that Oklahoma looked like the better team tonight for a good majority of the game.

Congratulations to Utah.

Sorry, UT fans, but UT needed everything it could muster to BARELY beat the 2nd best team in the Big 10. Not the best team, mind you. The 2nd best team.

If UT had just come out and donkey punched tOSU up and down the field, I would be the first on the “OU shouldn’t have been there bandwagon”. However, Florida’s defense would’ve held Colt, the retarded RBs, and two 2nd tier WRs to 7 points at most, maybe 3 or even 0.

Damn, y’all gave up 45 points to a team with retarded running backs and second tier wide receivers?

Everyone knew you would lose and you lost. Deal with it.

And following the logic you used in your genius analysis, because Florida could only score 24 on your defense, we would shut them out.

Huck and Trips, I think you’re missing the larger point, which is: Nate’s diatribe is all the Sooners will have to work with until, at earliest, October. Completely tenuous claims of “Oh yeah, well … well … you’d a lost worse!”

Mm, your tears are so yummy and sweet! Oh, the tears of unfathomable sadness! My-yummy! Mm-yummy, you guys!

by CrazyJoeDavola on Jan 9, 2009 12:41 AM CST reply actions

“Nate, what would you give to barely beat someone?”

Good question.

by DBH on Jan 9, 2009 12:58 AM CST reply actions

For CrazyJoe:
As tenuous as claims from fans of a team that, say, lost to a not great Texas Tech team and needed every second to beat a not very good Ohio State team by 3 points? You keep telling yourself that, spanky. Keep telling yourself that.
As for unfathomable sadness…have you gone full retard? Go back and find my prediction of the outcome of this game. I’ll wait.

For Huck:
Damn, y’all gave up 45 points to a team with retarded running backs and second tier wide receivers?

It’s a bitch when you can’t cover the 7 yard slant. Amazing how once Okie State, Ohio State, and Tech figured out that this was UT’s bread and butter, they made games out of it. Remember that guy UT made their offense on? Brandon Crow? Notice how he never showed up on the two deep again? It must be pissing you off that after you swore up and down that Ryan Reynolds’ injury had nothing to do with UT’s win, it’s occurred to everyone else it had something to do with it.

Everyone knew you would lose and you lost. Deal with it.
I knew we would lose, too. I posted as much earlier this week. It’s quite easy to deal with because I have a great deal of practice.

What I won’t deal with is folks like you who can work advanced stats and derivations but who can’t seem to count to three in a three way tie, who think that allegations of OU wrongdoing from unnamed sources must be true but that allegations of UT wrongdoing from the NY Times must be a “hit piece”, and who think that hanging on in a nailbiter against the Big 10’s 2nd best team somehow qualifies as reason for UT to be in Miami.

OU has become the new Buffalo Bills. Despite actually winning a championship at one point in his tenure, Stoops has taken OU here. I get that.

But you’ve got a coach who’s gotten you to exactly two Big 12 title games where you’ve won exactly one. You’d think UT would have an easier time winning a conference with the new Buffalo Bills in it. That’s what really pisses you guys off, and it’s understandable.

OU didn’t belong in the title game. Guess what? NEITHER DID UT. The Big 12 was a fraud this year.

And following the logic you used in your genius analysis, because Florida could only score 24 on your defense, we would shut them out.
Speaking of genius, if UT could only put up 24 on Ohio State, how precisely would they do anything competent against Florida?

by NateHeupel on Jan 9, 2009 1:02 AM CST reply actions

Ah, Nate. Cementing your legacy as an douchebag in the truest sense. Referring to a team that hung 45 points on you as having “retarded RBs and second tier WRs.” OU fans are the gift that just keeps … on … giving.

What will you do for your next trick, Nate? Refer to Tebow and Harvin as invalids that couldn’t score 24 points on OU if their lives depended on it?

by Ron Weaver on Jan 9, 2009 1:04 AM CST reply actions

Meant to say “an OU douchebag in truest sense.”

I guess I am big-time drunk on the sweet wine that is OU schadenfraude.

by Ron Weaver on Jan 9, 2009 1:06 AM CST reply actions

Had it not been for a bullshit roughing the punter ou scores 1, exactly 1 TD in the second half vs. Texas. And spare me the roughing the passer crap. That extended one drive for 3 points.

Additionally, had the game gone another quarter, Texas wins the ballgame by 3 TD’s. OU was done. That’s what ou does. When they get behind they go down on their knees much like a cheap whore just after a half-hearted negotiation.

OU is done and the college game is better for it. The tragedy is that their charity has basically set the conference back in terms of its legitimacy. If you ask Nate, it’s not OU’s fault, it’s Texas’ fault for not winning by 3 TD’s. Because nothing matters unless you have style points.

by Trips Right on Jan 9, 2009 1:12 AM CST reply actions

It must be pissing you off that after you swore up and down that Ryan Reynolds’ injury had nothing to do with UT’s win, it’s occurred to everyone else it had something to do with it.

Logic error #1. I didn’t swear up and down that it had nothing to do with our win. I didn’t think it had as big of an impact as you did. And why would I be pissed off about anything having to do with when we kicked OU’s ass?

What I won’t deal with is folks like you who can work advanced stats and derivations but who can’t seem to count to three in a three way tie, who think that allegations of OU wrongdoing from unnamed sources must be true but that allegations of UT wrongdoing from the NY Times must be a "hit piece", and who think that hanging on in a nailbiter against the Big 10’s 2nd best team somehow qualifies as reason for UT to be in Miami.

Logic errors #2, #3, and #4. Neither I nor most Texas fans were under any misconceptions about the Big 12 tiebreaker. We had an issue with the tiebreaker, and we were aware that Texas Tech was part of the three-way tie. Are you drunk? Also, what have I said about McFarland on this site? Not a damn thing. Finally, the Fiesta Bowl has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not Texas deserved to be in the Big 12 Championship Game or National Championship Game. The only information relevant to those decisions is information available at the time of the decision. Besides, as pointed out by others, we won. You might have heard of it. Winning a BCS bowl without John Blake-recruited players on your roster, that is.

Speaking of genius, if UT could only put up 24 on Ohio State, how precisely would they do anything competent against Florida?

Logic error #5. Texas’ point total against Ohio State has nothing to do my statement that our defense would dominate Florida according to your terrible logic. Furthermore, apparently you’re not aware that Ohio State has a good defense this year, probably equivalent to Florida overall. The question that you should be asking is if Oklahoma would have beaten Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. Based on the 14 points against Florida, the answer would be no.

Wow, 5 epic failures in a row. You post like Bob Stoops coaches BCS games.

by Huckleberry on Jan 9, 2009 1:13 AM CST reply actions

I used to think it was theatric license that claimed one man could make another man choke by swallowing his own tongue ala Hannibal Lecter vs. Minx in Silence of the Lambs. I might have to revisit my thought process, however, after reading Huck’s retort to Nate’s tripe. There’s a solid chance Huck has murdered someone on this site. I’m not judging, though, I’m just making an observation.

Huckleberry 5, NateSpewpel 0.

Ohio State, with four weeks of prep and two freshmen growing up everyday, was a very underrated team. They almost beat Penn State, and their defense would have had a good game against the OU team I saw on the field tonight against Florida.

NateHeupel, you are a bigger douche than the frosty haired, visor wearing Josh.

In reality, I wasn’t impressed with Florida and actually thought OU was the better team. With that being said, The BCS not only put one team in the NC game that didn’t belong there but they put two teams in the NC game that didn’t belong there.

I’m normally a staunch defender of the SEC, but the conference was really down this year and not only did Bama prove it, but Florida didn’t show me that much either. How everyone overlooks USC who hasn’t lost a money game under Carroll outside of losing to a team led by the best college football player in the last 25 years (and yes that includes Tebowner) is beyond me. The rematch of the 2006 Rose Bowl should have taken place in Miami.

OU did it and they got a chance to embarrass themselves. Let’s put 60 up on Rice next year and get a chance to embarrass the conference for once.

Also, Mack now has more BCS wins than Bob Stoops.
