Sooners Capel May Be next In Coaching Musical Chairs
John Calipari's move to Kentucky leaves the Arizona position as the next prize on the job opening list, and according to Arizona sources, they are close to taking Jeff Capel away from OU.
Capel, only 34, is 148-74 as a head coach at the D-1 level, including a 69-33 record at OU.

OU went 30-6 with an Elite Eight finish under Capel this season.
An Arizona source says negotiations could be wrapped up within a day or two, and Capel could be moving West.

If you saw him in some of the sports jackets he used to flash in the ‘80s you wouldn’t say that, Trips. Garish is an understatement. The man never really adapted when TV went from black and white to color.
But I digress. I’m good with this move. Probably way too early to know if it would impact Warren. I don’t think Mason-Griffin would look to change his commit, but don’t know anything about the other McD AA.

I would think Gallon will go where TMG goes.
It’ll be interesting to see what badass coaching hire Castiglione pulls out of his witches’ cauldron this time.
The thing with TMG is, this is the second time it’s happened. Remember, he was an early LSU commit to assistant Butch Pierre on John Brady’s staff, until Brady and Pierre were fired.

Steve makes Gary DeLaune look like Adolphe Menjou.

I only had to google one of those names.
And it wasn’t Steve.

Capel is telling tmg and tiny that he hasn’t spoken with arizona.

Was he saying that through his Kelvin Samson Ventriloquist Dummy?
by Sailor Ripley on Apr 1, 2009 5:40 PM CDT reply actions
Metaphorically, yes, I’m sure. My guy’s telling me he’s either in full denial or this is a wild ass rumor.

My guy has a dog in this fight and it’s certainly not ou. He may be in full denial.

Dude, your source is the East Valley Tribune. That’s about as reliable as quoting Auto Trader.
It may happen, but the East Valley Tribune is just throwing shit out there.

Is it Arizonia or Nike trying to lure Capel to Az?
by justaguy on Apr 1, 2009 6:26 PM CDT reply actions
Dingus McGee, that’s only where it’s in print. The rumor is all over the place. Several insiders I know have had their text messaging service short circuiting from all the people passing it on.
The Arizona sites are saying whoever the next coach is, it’s a done deal other than some contractual details that need to be worked out, and the announcement will come early next week.
I would not be hopeful if I were a Sooner fan.

“That’s about as reliable as quoting Auto Trader.”
I have to give him credit. That made me chuckle.

So…who becomes the betting favorite to take up residence in Norman if Capel goes west? Please don’t say Billy Clyde, though he’d fit right in up there.

Gillespie at OU would be an interesting turn of events.
by Black Scholes on Apr 1, 2009 7:00 PM CDT reply actions
Who knows, coolhorn? I didn’t exactly predict Castiglione would hire Jeff Capel the last time around.

The latest is it’s Tim Floyd.
Good to see Capel stay in the Big 12. Disappointing not to be able to watch Sooner fans go a little crazy.

TMG looks nice, but Keith Gallon will need to play defense at some point.
by Trips Right on Apr 1, 2009 9:07 PM CDT reply actions
Fuck. I had my “OU and me, we’re done professionally,” headline all cleverly picked out and shit.
“I’m wearing this to the next BC Board Meeting.”
Very conervative of you to resist the RED liesure suit this time. Heck I bet you even shelve the Hi Karate and go with the Brut. Watch out Barkers, Srr50 means business!

I thought TMG struggled a bit. Agree on Tiny.
I posted my thoughts out front.

Tim Floyd, not Jeff Capel, to Arizona.
sorry guys.

From the L.A. Times last year when the LSU job opened up and Floyd’s name came up.
“I’ve said from day one that this is my last job, so there’s nothing else to say. It’s a non-story,” Floyd said.“I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”
This will be his fifth head coaching gig in college — to go with two stops in the NBA.
Dude moves around.

srr is an Old Spice guy. With a little Aqua Velva in the rotation cuz the ladies dig it. They say it reminds them of their granddad.
Floyd has the ethics for Tucson, but I don’t see him as the long-term answer. Curious choice.

Hey, Auto Trader was all over Calipari to Kentucky.

That’s really embarrassing for Arizona. Real embarrassing.

Someone should electrocute Pete Carroll every time he uses extra punctuation for emphasis.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
