Who wants to sex Orakpo?

Former Texas defensive end Brian Orakpo signed a five year $20 million contract with the Washington Redskins last Thursday night. He got $12.1 million guaranteed.

Orakpo said he was out for a birthday dinner with his fiancée late last night at a sushi restaurant when he got the call from his agent letting him know that the deal was done.

Asked if he left a bigger tip, Orakpo shrugged.

"I don't know," he said. "She's the one that paid for it."

Dude turned 23 on Friday so that beats getting twenty dollars in a card from his grandma.

Now he can get a nice place like former Longhorn and current New York Giant Aaron Ross. Scipio has the same 'Boom Boom Room' pictures on the wall in his West Oakland efficiency. And a good job by TexasSports in doing videos like this. Contemporary, man.

So Aaron Ross went 25 years without having a Christmas tree and now he keeps one up year-round. This is EXACTLY why I keep a keg in the house..
BTW A. Ross, check back with me when you’re 40 (A MAN) and let’s see if you’re still calling your wifey “my baby” and blowing kisses at her picture…

Orakpo Reports to Camp

Interesting stat: No rookie had more than 5 sacks in the NFL last year.

A few excerpts that stood out:

The 6-4, 260-pound Orakpo flashed the skills that so intrigued the Redskins in Sunday’s morning workout, nearly obliterating running back Ladell Betts after blowing around the left tackle. There’s no question he has the makings of a speed-rushing end.

"He reminds me of Leonard Little when he came out when I was with St. Louis," linebacker London Fletcher said. "Same body type. Same power. He has a lot of explosiveness. I’m very impressed with the way he rushes the passer."

Orakpo on Orakpo:

"The coaches understand that I’m a rookie but they don’t truly believe I’m a rookie," he said. "They put a lot of responsibility on what I’m doing and I have to be responsive and study and know what I’m doing, even though I’m being thrown into the fire," he said.

"I’ve been playing a little more end. Linebacker is a little more work. I have to learn coverages and zone blitzes. But I’m excited. They’re not going to ask too much of me."

Zorn:

"He’s not All Pro yet," Zorn warned. "He’s a rook. He’s learning. He’s a fledgling. I may sound as if I’m all giddy but I’m just telling you there’s a general enthusiasm toward the way he’s working and the things I’ve seen him do."

With the exception of the tree, Ross’ condo is rather tastefully decorated for a jock.

Let’s hope that Rak does not use his speed and explosiveness like Little did, i.e. head-on and with BAC 3X the legal limit.

They should put that on his media guide description in Wash. “Like Little without the multiple manslaughter charges!”

“There’s no question he has the makings of a speed-rushing end.”

So what do the skins want to do with him? Make him an Outside Linebacker in a 4-3 scheme, of course.

Go Danny Snyder!!!!!

More ’Rak love today. Print edition of the Post has Chris Samuels getting lectured by Joe Bugel (yes, THE Joe Bugel) about how to handle the rush.

“The early days of camp have not been kind to the offensive line. For example, coaches and team executives have been raving about the performance of rookie defensive end-linebacker Brian Orakpo. But several times, his successes have come at the expense of six-time Pro Bowl tackle Chris Samuels.”

“Michael Crabtree is prepared to sit out this season and re-enter the NFL draft in 2010, David Wells, Crabtree’s cousin and adviser, said Thursday.”

Has there been ANY good news for Tech fans since Nov. 1st ,2008?

Maybe a little Mack Brown curse?
