Catching up with DJ Augustin

Texassports.com has an excellent extended interview with DJ, covering why he came to Texas, his relationship with the coaches, getting drafted by the Bobcats, his superiority to every Kansas Jayhawk from Wilt Chamberlain and Danny Manning to Kirk Hinrich and Sherron Collins, as well as some thoughts on the city of Austin. There's also some great game footage and behind the scenes action with coaches Todd and Russ in Denton Cooley if you've never seen the facilities.
Given our struggles at PG last year, watching the highlights are at once painful and joyous. How sweet was DJ's reverse finger roll off the glass and step back jumper? The kid was money and I'm glad he's making a lot of it. How he cranked out a 4.0 given the turmoil in high school is even more impressive.
Texassports.com also launched a daily and monthly email newsletter in direct competition with HenryJames, Inc.

What this post needed was something about how much better than Sherron Collins or Mario Chalmers, he is.

I forgot the Jayhawk fans need to be baited in order for Texas fans to start talking about basketball.
Fixed.

In my relatively few travels to Vegas and Tahoe during televised sporting events, I can attest that KU fans are absolute shit.

There were some truly epic games played by that kid. I’ll never forget watching him in the 2008 Big XII tourney final – first half. He was draining shots that looked impossible to make with guys like Rush and Chalmers on him. Lack of depth killed us in that game.

SLX used to stalk his parents at Applebee’s. Or maybe it was a waitress. But what is important is that SLX goes to Applebee’s.

He can’t tell you, he was too busy working out with Team USA.

I know if it were me, I’d much prefer to practice with Team USA than to be competitive when it actually mattered.

Mr. Chalmers was a great mentor to our program; nothing to see here, move along..

Yeah, what he said. We like watching our boys from the bench. I mean, I was directing operations and shit at Kansas.
