Practice: Day Nine
Mack talks about the freshmen on his blog. Regarding which of the freshmen will play this year, "it's too early to know and honestly isn't even in discussion with us yet. "
And then Brown talks about something I've never heard of.
You’ve probably heard me talk about the MACK 8 committee before.
Actually, no. I thought it was a new razor or something.
It’s a group of staff members that touch our players’ lives every day and they are a great resource to the coaches, players and families. They have a plan in place for counseling and working with a young man who doesn’t get to continue playing.

'Sorry Mr. and Mrs. Applewhite, but Chris isn't going to play for Austin High.'

Was there even a mention of anything practice related in your link roundup? You couldn’t even type in the word “Practice” before “Pics?”

Major Applewhite needs to invest in some smaller shirts. He looks ridiculous.

If it weren’t for the Allen Iverson tag, I wouldn’t have even known we were talking about practice.

“We have been able to adjust our philosophy when it comes to freshmen in recent years.”
Translation: “I no longer keep my best players on the bench just because there’s another guy at the same position with more experience.”

What if those players have bled their own blood for the program?

Check out these sentences from Mack’s blog:
“You must always be prepared for someone to step up or move positions to help, and in the end, it may not even be necessary, but you always have to be ready. It’s responsibility without control!”
The exclamation mark at the end of this made me wonder if Mack is reading business self-help books. Here’s what Google turned up:

“The California Zephyr was at full speed when Pete verbalized the thoughts he was having about what Kip had just said…”(more)
No, no more.
It’s like that scene in ‘Throw Momma From the Train’ when Billy Crystal is teaching that creative writing class.
“Dive… DIVE” yelled the captain through the thing. So the captain pressed a button, or something, and it dove. And the enemy was foiled again!

My understanding is that Brian Davis is part of the Mack 8. He is responsible for helping people fail out if they’re having trouble getting acclimated on their own. Generally, this includes avoiding the player at all costs and not keeping tabs on what players are doing that might be grade risks once on campus. He was responsible for DJ Monroe last fall and has been not working with Brandon Collins, Ben Alexander, and Malcolm Williams this summer.

Amen CTJ. Davis was responsible for Sam LeCure, baseball pitcher, being inelgible his junior year which cost Sam $$$ in the MLB draft. (Sam recovered and now is in AAA, one of the Reds’ best prospects.)
Shortly thereafter, Davis was moved to football only with Mack’s endorsement.

Texas vs Okie State 2008 on ESPNU right now. 1st Quarter.
Kendall Hunter with the cutback move leaves Kindle grasping air then the ball gets knocked loose and Kindle is 20 yds downfield to recover it.

Brian Davis was whiter than Christian Laetner.
