Florida 23, Arkansas 20

Discuss.

The officiating in this one was amazingly one-sided and the "unnecessary roughness" call against the Arkansas d-lineman in the 4th quarter was one of the worst calls I've ever seen. Completely inexcusable.

Thoughts?

Worst. call. ever.

Almost as bad was Petrino’s call on 3rd and 5.

by sizzlechest on Oct 17, 2009 6:48 PM CDT reply actions

They gave Florida a 30 yard boost.

And the ref five feet from the personal foul didn’t throw his flag. The Florida linemen peels back and tries to cheap shot the Arkansas player, and they flag the Arkansas player for seeing it coming and defending himself.

After watching us and Florida on several occassions this year, the more I begin to lean towards there only being one complete football team. The one in Tuscaloosa. Everyone else seems very flawed.

by Flamingmonkeyass on Oct 17, 2009 7:05 PM CDT reply actions

Alabama scored. Well South Carolina at least made a game of it for the first play.

by HenryJames on Oct 17, 2009 7:05 PM CDT reply actions

Literally gave the game to Florida.

As I said on the other thread, it makes me feel a teeny-tiny bit better about our struggles. I don’t have a logical reason for it other than that FL is another team that isn’t supposed to be struggling.

Looks like ‘Bama might be the clear #1 after tonight if they take care of S.C. Can’t say they won’t deserve it.

by Sasha is a Longhorn Dog on Oct 17, 2009 7:09 PM CDT reply actions

Florida isn’t struggling. God is just testing Him.

by HenryJames on Oct 17, 2009 7:11 PM CDT reply actions

Arkie’s kicker gagged, and the penalties against Pig late in the game were ridiculous. Tesus got lucky on one busted coverage, and that’s about it. FL deserved to lose.

by BEHorn on Oct 17, 2009 7:11 PM CDT reply actions

Colorado is up 17-3 on Kansas.

by HenryJames on Oct 17, 2009 7:14 PM CDT reply actions

I would like to discuss the Florida game, but I was in a vodka and Shiner-induced coma. Evidently I missed a great game.

I’m not a betting man, but that 26 point line was calling to me all week.

by nordberg on Oct 17, 2009 7:16 PM CDT reply actions

Can we just call off all Alabama games once they get a 10 point lead?

by nordberg on Oct 17, 2009 7:17 PM CDT reply actions

Alabama just got a pass interference call on a flea flicker. They are susceptible to the Wild Horn!

by HenryJames on Oct 17, 2009 7:19 PM CDT reply actions

Oh yeah, one more thing: Aggies. HAHAHAHA

by nordberg on Oct 17, 2009 7:20 PM CDT reply actions

Agreed — but if they just made that kick it wouldnt have been an issue..

by Adam on Oct 17, 2009 7:21 PM CDT reply actions

The Wild Horn, nordberg.

The Wild Horn.

by HenryJames on Oct 17, 2009 7:22 PM CDT reply actions

So, I am optmist that we can win a tight game, say 10-3, against aggies.

by aerohorn on Oct 17, 2009 7:26 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah I’m not looking for us to duplicate KSU’s success, by any means. I’d take 10-3 right now and I’m not fucking joking.

by nordberg on Oct 17, 2009 7:30 PM CDT reply actions

Greg McElroy is pretty average. Which means he’s a starting quarterback in the SEC.

Bama Gideon just made a play.

Unreal.

Georgia Tech just took care of a one-loss Virginia Tech scenario for us.

by HenryJames on Oct 17, 2009 7:47 PM CDT reply actions

If the BCS money conspiracy wants to gift wrap undefeated Florida, Texas, and Alabama going into the first weekend in December, then I have no problem with that. I just wish they would go ahead and infect Greg Davis with swine flu or bird flu or fucking whale shit flu and get it over.

by The General on Oct 17, 2009 7:47 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah, I remember watching that play and thinking that the refs were giving Florida a gift timeout by even measuring it.

by HenryJames on Oct 17, 2009 7:54 PM CDT reply actions

The Pirate took down Ninjas 31-10.

It does work. If K-State is Karate, is Kansas High Karate?

by The General on Oct 17, 2009 7:58 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah, I remember watching that play and thinking that the refs were giving Florida a gift timeout by even measuring it.

That was the same comment I had during the game. I was expecting the chains to be pulled a yard past the ball. When it was a first I was like, “WTF?”

I thought maybe the first down line had just been wrong, but no, they spotted the ball on that play inside the 18 yard line.

That crew has serious problems. 2nd tight game this year that has totally gotten away from them (the UGA/LSU game being the first).

What’s the BAC on this board right now? I’ve got a sixer of shiner and a half a bottle of Pinot under my belt, working on the second half and watching Alabama-USC. The Tide look head and shoulders better than everyone else right now.

That photo looks like Tebow’s O-face. But then again, he doesn’t have an O-face, right? So what’s going on there?

So confusing.

So sorry I even brought it up.

by Woody Bombay on Oct 17, 2009 8:35 PM CDT reply actions

He has an o-face. He’s just a fucking liar, which explains the karate.

OSU ran right by Sean Weatherspoon for a 7-3 lead.

by HenryJames on Oct 17, 2009 8:43 PM CDT reply actions

I hate Arkiesaw, but they got jobbed today. Both of those 15 yard penalties on Florida’s TD drive were horseshit. Glad I didn’t see the insane 9 yard first down. Wow.

by BrickHorn on Oct 17, 2009 9:00 PM CDT reply actions

You know, since we’ve had Mack we have not played well against Karate. We have however played much better against Ninjas. We should have Karate on the schedule next season. Having Coach Boom will not doubt have an effect on the Karate situ.

by Dasmithjones on Oct 17, 2009 10:22 PM CDT reply actions

Well, that game couldn’t have been giftwrapped any nicer for St. Tebow; it’s like the refs didn’t even care that everybody in the entire nation could see what fucking bullshit calls those were, they were gonna make ‘em because Florida was going to by God win this fucking game. Pathetic. Aside from anyone using their own eyes, you know the calls were wrong when the dumbshit CBS announcers removed their tongues from Tebow’s anus long enough to actually question them. I’m sure they’ll be reprimanded by CBS brass for it.

by burnt orange outrage on Oct 17, 2009 10:25 PM CDT reply actions

“By the way, that was the same crew that the SEC has already had to apologize for after the LSU/UGA game.”

Wow, if true those guys should be fired. Isn’t one of the basic tenets of officiating to not interject themselves into the last 5 or 10 minutes of a close football game? Only call obvious plays? They not only made two blatantly bad calls, pass interference and personal four for roughness, they missed an offensive pass interference by Florida on one of their last 2 drives.

by texoz on Oct 18, 2009 8:46 AM CDT reply actions

To make this situation even more annoying, when you look at yahoo/rival’s sports page this morning you see these two headlines.

“Hollow victory. Texas didn’t look like a BCS contender as it edged OU.”

“Gators escape. Tim Tebow drove No. 1 Florida for a field goal in the final seconds to beat Arkansas.”

by texoz on Oct 18, 2009 8:49 AM CDT reply actions

I was wondering if that was the same crew that did the lsu/uga game. Amazing.

I thought I was seeing things on that first down. Jesus.

by Lowery on Oct 18, 2009 9:19 AM CDT reply actions

I’m a Gator alum and I was embarrassed by those two 15 yard penalties against Arkansas on the final drive. But then again, perhaps its a little karma for Bobby Petrino for abandoning every program he’s coached in the last 10 years (who quits on a pro team with a month left in the season?!) Too bad his current players have to suffer.

But I have to respect the Hogs — they came to win. Gators need to wake up and stop acting like a #1 ranking means that you automatically win. This game and (if) Alabama moves into #1 might be just what the doctor ordered.

Tech 66, Karate 14
Karate 62, A&M 14

Tech = 100-point favorite over A&M

Don’t think for a minute that Leach can’t get that covered, either.

Well played.

by HenryJames on Oct 18, 2009 11:34 AM CDT reply actions

So what is the complete catalog of this travesty?

The 9 yard = 10 yard gain complete with erroneous clock stoppage for measurement of ersatz first down.

The horsecrap PI call.

The bad call on the FLA lineman getting deservedly punked.

Anything else?

by raoulduke on Oct 18, 2009 2:41 PM CDT reply actions

Anything else?

The no call on the Riley Cooper offensive pass interference. Tebow threw the ball up for grabs in the endzone and only because of Cooper’s interference was the ball not picked off. Would have been 2nd & 25 at the UF 45 with 1:00 left. Instead, it was 3rd & 10 and Tebow hit Cooper for 12 yards and the first down in FG range.

by Texas_Dawg on Oct 18, 2009 3:31 PM CDT reply actions

The main deal is that it was an obvious effort by the refs to change the outcome of the game.

by Lowery on Oct 18, 2009 5:38 PM CDT reply actions

Apparently the CBS LOS and first down lines were off by about a yard. It was still a very favorable spot for Florida though as the yardage marker was inside the 19 and he was clearly down about a half yard short.

by Texas_Dawg on Oct 18, 2009 6:55 PM CDT reply actions

The SEC came out and said, this was a badly called game. The CBS anouncers needed to get their heads out of their a**’s. It was like they’d never seen a football game before. As the coach said today in an interview, Coaches don’t have the 1st amendment rights to questions the SEC. I wish some of these sports anouncers would ask Teabue “So are you going to depend on the Ref’s helping you this game like they did the last?” Or, “Have you gueys been making fun of your offensive lineman for getting punked while trying to throw a cheap shot?” Or, “How can you say with a strait face, your a Heisman canidate, when on five different accations the zebras helped you out by giving you 46 1/2 yards on your final drives?” But they wont.
