Brandon Spikes really believes that Tim Tebow can heal the blind
Why else would he try to gouge out the Georgia running back's eyes?

You gotta think there would be some in-game retribution for that. I’m sure there was more dirtiness caught on video with this broadcast.

As I watched UF yesterday, I started to hope they continue to win, and Tebow continues to do well and wins a second Heisman…it will make the twenty point victory that much sweeter in Pasadena.
Hook ’em!

What are you going to do for material when Tebow and Hall graduate? Good thing Jesus never graduates.

I heard that Brett Favre texted Tebow after last night’s game, causing anyone using T-Mobile to spontaneously ejaculate.

There isn’t a more helpless feeling in the world than being on the bottom of a pile and having some cocksucker trying to grab your balls or poke your eyes out. I wish a career ending injury, prison, or death on Spikes. FUCK HIM!!! That piece of fucking shit should be suspended immediately and never be allowed to play another down of college football.
If the NCAA is going to give Tard Bryant a year for “fibbing” then they should kick Spikes to the curb permanently.

You say that as if there’s a ton of value in playing the role of UT Tim.

He actually posted on the GBU just before this thread and had one of the more insightful posts regarding our defense I have seen. Ded’s one of the good guys and certainly in my opinion one of the 2 or 3 most knowledgeable football guys writing on this network. He’s also right on Scip’s heels in terms of laugh out loud funny to boot. You should read his latest post on the Tortilla Retort.

dedfischer is very funny and knows his shit.
And his post a few days back on Tortilla Retort about how either Florida or Alabama would beat Texas by double digits — and that Georgia Tech would give UT Texas trouble — was simply adorable!

Yeah, I’m feeling a little better about the Horns run defense against those teams. The problem is they become accustomed to getting blocked by spread sissies for 12 games. Ingram intrigues me. Seems like a guy that will give everyone problems. I think Tebow would be cut into a Muschamp k-bob.

Despite rumors that ded and Tim are one and the same, which I’m not convinced of, his contributions, while partisan, are usually pretty sound.

“McCoy loves him some Shipley.”
“Shipley is really good at finding the hole and Colt is really good at zipping it in.”
Quotes from Matt Millen last night said literally within seconds of each other. Even the most moronic announcers are beginning to drop the homo hints.
Good thing McCoy has a smokin’ hot girlfriend or we might have to start wondering.

Woody, I’ve seen 3 teams play with defenses good enough to win it all this year, Bama, Florida and Texas. In those kind of matchups, it typically comes down to which offense is the least self-destructive against their counterpart. Outside of their own locker room, I just don’t think the Texas offense gets a good look at a salty defense in this conference.
I don’t see your running game working worth a fuck against those teams, which leads me to believe Texas could get stuck in the double edged sword of the short passing game for 4 quarters. Those DEs and LBs at Florida and Bama are grown-ass men that can run, so it really comes down to your faith in the OL. At least, Florida or Bama might have the option of pounding Tebow and Ingram at 3 yards a clip, kick field goals and avoid turnovers. The Texas special teams is what I deem as really special. They’re good enough to be the difference and that’s about all my thoughts on Texas right now.
Good luck.

Indeed we would, because it is extremely mysterious why a QB would seek to throw the ball to the best receiver on the team. A real puzzler that is. Ima do me some wonderin on dat one.

Good shit, ded.
I think our running game would get cornholed vs. Bama or Fla.
by Sailor Ripley on Nov 1, 2009 10:51 PM CST reply actions
And there is no way that Utah could stay within two touchdowns of ’Bama last year.
by charlie varrick on Nov 1, 2009 11:01 PM CST reply actions
Eh, right now I’d say it’s a wash.
Our run game would get cornholed by Bama or Florida, but their run game would get cornholed by our defense, too.
Our passing game would have trouble against Bama or Florida’s athletic defense, but their passing game would be non-freaking-existent versus ours.
I think the deciding factor probably comes down to:
Colt McCoy
Our special teams
Muschamp being pretty familiar with Florida/Alabama’s offense
by SpiralOut on Nov 2, 2009 2:50 AM CST reply actions
I’m not worried about our offense.
Apparently, we’ve been holding back. Sandbagging. Keeping something up our sleeve. Not showing all of our cards. Tickling the kitty, but not punching the donkey.
by texoz on Nov 2, 2009 7:35 AM CST reply actions
Yeah — a game against Bama would be low-scoring and, unfortunately, look alot like the OU game. If we turn the ball over then we lose. Ingram is better than anyone we have. Colt is much better than anything Bama can put under center. Their special teams is pretty good too — you don’t block two field goals in a game otherwise. That game is a push to me.
As for Florida — I think we can move the ball on Florida. All things considered I might prefer this match-up. And I want to see what happens when Sergio meets Jesus in the backfield.
by ghostofagroundgame on Nov 2, 2009 7:52 AM CST reply actions
The question you should ask yourself as a Texas fan is how well would your offense stack up against your defense? That’s kind of what the Big Show will be like. If you feel good about that, then you should be fine. Texas can win the game by using that rugby guy to pin those offenses deep, and then play for the blocked punt or Shipley return.

I will say in dedfischer’s defense, I have seen alot of his writing and I have seen alot of Tim’s and I will say that there is no way they are the same ppl, dedfischer actually knows what he is talking about and well tim could be an announcer for the SEC.

“Ingram is better than anyone we have.”
True, but is Ingram a better back than Beanie Wells was? Beanie had 106 yards on 16 carries against a good-to-great line; I’d put money down that if he played Texas again this year, he’d be held to somewhere around 50-60.
If you consider Ingram a better back (behind a better line) then I’d reckon Ingram had a chance at busting some big ones. But I think we’d hold him to about the same as Wells last season.
by TXinDC on Nov 2, 2009 9:08 AM CST reply actions
I think the best thing for Texas is to continue to hear about “grown-ass” men they have yet to play against and the dominance of the SEC. It is some of the not so “grown-ass” men that they will see over the next month that concerns me.

There were a lot of Dawgs in Spikes face, pushing him around, smacking him up side the head, ripping his helmet off, etc., etc., etc., BEFORE he reached inside a Dawg helmet and tried to scratch him…

You make solid points, ded. I agree with GoaGG above, especially regarding a Texas-Alabama game looking like Texas-OU.
You didn’t mention Georgia Tech here, so hopefully I can assume you’ve at least given that one up.

“I don’t see your running game working worth a fuck against those teams, which leads me to believe Texas could get stuck in the double edged sword of the short passing game for 4 quarters.”
If you exclude sacks and the two run-out-the-clock plays by Colt at the end of the game, Texas ran 34 times for 167 yards against OU (4.9 yards per carry) during meaningful and contested parts of the game.
That is not overwhelming by any means, but unless you are asserting that Alabama and Florida are substantially better run defenses than OU, it’s not out of the question we could mount a credible running game and balanced offense against those teams, at least enough to complement the defense and special teams in the overall effort.

I think Paul Johnson’s offense would make most of the Big 12 LBs look stupid. However, Muschamp could get things sewed up with adjustments by the 2nd half. Any other defense in the league, they go for 350 on the ground against. They might get 175 on Texas, but only 225 total, so that’s probably good enough to kick their ass thoroughly. OU’s run defense hasn’t looked as salty to me this season, at least compared to the 3 elite defenses.

Spikes has suspended himself for a whole game.
So first the gougee steps up and says Spikes shouldn’t be suspended at all. Then after receiving his punishment from the university, Spikes suspends himself.
Only in the SEC!
In trying to avoid becoming a distraction to his team he just assured another 48 hours of coast-to-coast coverage. And it also exposes Meyer’s duplicity for not suspending him a full game in the first place.
