Marcus Davis Arrested
Freshman defensive back Marcus Davis was arrested in Pearland on Saturday and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
This may bode well for Texas in the national championship game because typically this shit happens only after you win the title.

I can only imagine how this kind of bs goes over with the Shipleys and McCoys of the team. Assuming he’s guilty, kick him off the team for good. Good riddance. Idiot

This is the internet, sir. When the blind pessimism becomes shtick, print the shtick.

A good sign, indeed. I think we’ve traditionally played better in games immediately following police blotter activity.

I love the response from people when these kids make mistakes. Kick them off the team! Yada Yada. Do you realize these guys are kids and make mistakes. Our fanbase has a lot of people who never seem to make mistakes. If he is in possession of cocaine, that’s one thing, but if its marijuana that’s another. Should he be punished? Absolutely. But our fanbase wanted DJ Monroe kicked off the team for DWI and now this kid for possibly having marijuana in his possession.
Again, they are kids and are experimental and have to learn lessons of life. That’s a part of growing up. I don’t endorse it and I certainly wouldn’t tolerate what happened at Tennessee or earlier events with Joseph and Jones, but come on people. Can you imagine if we had taken this stance with Houston, Griffin, Harris, Brown, Kindle, etc. Punish them and let them learn a lesson and continue to mature as kids. Our holier than thou approach by some in our fanbase is comical.

If you really want to shit can your National Championship prospects, then let Colt win the Heisman. That would pretty much kill any chance you have to win the game.

I think he’ll be suspended until the legal process resolves. We’ll table the resolution until after the season.

A friend gave it to him. He didn’t know it was in the car. It wasn’t his car. He didn’t know where the backpack with the longhorn football logo came from.
Do we not drug test at all? Sheesh.

Elsewhere someone correctly points out that PCS-A is not rocking the ganj. Its prescription drug in prescription quantities. Arguably more serious than the chronic or dui.

Seems like Ransom could really benefit from smoking a bowl.

We can’t stop kids from occasionally getting their lean on. Especially if they are hanging out in Pearland. God knows that casual narcotic use and the suburbs go hand in hand, like Mike Gundy and hair gel, or Mangino and thirds, or Stoops and Tiger Beat magazine.

Y’all should all relax. I only got arrested for about 1/10000th of the things I should have been arrested for when I was 18. So I never feel good about anyone else getting popped. And unlike some of you — Ransom — I refuse to be anti-party. If you are 18 and playing D-1 ball for UT then you had better be partying, but it’s unlikely to ever get better.

Maybe he was just texting when this happened, and all of it will go away.

Holy Christ, there are some strict two shakes only, get off my lawn, turn down that loud music types on this board. It’s MISDEMEANOR possession. There are probably posters on this board who would be popped for intention to distribute if you checked their personal stash for getting high with the old lady after the kids go to bed.
When ya’ll talk about the great Austin lifestyle in recruiting, for what do you think these kids are coming to UT? It ain’t to run on the hike and bike trail at Lake Lady Bird, enjoy a festival on South Congress, and take in the bats. It’s for the poon and partying.
And occasionally these guys are going to get busted He’s a true freshman, depending on what we don’t know about his internal program behavior and the level of contrition he shows to Mack, I’m sure they’ll make the appropriate determination.
But for god’s sake, lighten up, Francis.

Kilgore – the Heisman curse has only be perpetrated in the 2000s. In 1990-1999, only four of the ten Heisman winners lost in their final bowl game; in the 2000s (so far) it has been 7/9.

No, these are not “kids.” They’re adults. Perhaps not very wise, and often ignorant as a bag of rocks, but they’re adults and should be treated as such.
His punishment should be whatever is appropriate under team rules. Perhaps he shouldn’t be kicked out of school, but there’s obviously got to be some team penalty.
He’s embarrassed himself, his team and his school.

I think the whole point is not to avoid partying, but to avoid being a fucktard that gets arrested.

Jack,
What do Mack and Muschamp refer to the players as?
They are college students who will make mistakes. I’m amazed at the holier than thou attitude of people in our fanbase. Should he be punished yes, but to talk about kicking people off the team is a bit ridiculous.
by Groundhog Day on Nov 29, 2009 4:05 PM CST reply actions
I concur with the sentiment that he should be dealt with in line with team rules. He should be given a chance to make good. It does him no good to be dumped on his ass if it’s not a Ramonce type situation.
Embarassing, he sits the rest of the season, completes some sort of education program, and life goes on.
I, also, am glad I was not caught for any of the dumb stuff I did in college.

Would we call him a kid if we gave him a gun and sent him to Afghanistan? Probably not. Being a kid is not a good enough excuse. Being a Dumbass is and for that he is being punished already.
