NFL: Pro Bowl Open Thread and Big 12 Draftables
I realize the Pro Bowl is a bit silly but it has Vince Young there, so maybe some of you will watch it. He was interviewed a few days ago and can be seen here.
Also, a nice story about him taking McNair's kids to the Pro Bowl.
Also, dedfischer (@TortillaRetort) takes a look at the best the Big 12 has to offer the NFL Draft. Good reading here.

That older kid looks just like McNair. If he can ball, is there any question where he’ll end up?

The five person interview with VY on the NFL Network just now (yeah, I finished working and wanted not to think so I was watching the NFL Network) was really awesome. He’s the best. To the extent I understand what he says anyway.

Live from the 2010 Pro Bowl, music brought to you by Lionel Ritchie and MC Hammer.

I guess this is as appropriate place as any to tell you about the time my neighbor told me he was Vince Young’s uncle by marriage. The reconciliation didn’t make much sense, but the Rose Bowl swag with signatures and him telling me about brokering a reality show for Vince through BET contacts kind of made me believe there might be something to it. Especially, after there really was a reality show. He seems legit, although, he isn’t a black guy and goes by Panama.

Asante Samuel threw all his MVP chips on the table early.

I cannot accurately describe Panama in justice. I should have done a running diary on the lawn remodel last year. Only guy on the block with palm trees. Looks very natural in Lakewood.

Did Gruden have to talk to Peterson’s dad through one of those prison phones or has J.C. Watts got him out of jail yet?

Christ ded, I wish you were a texas fan so we could get you on a real game thread. What does Panama drive? Has to be an escalade. Or a hyundai.

A mini-cooper, an expedition and a jaguar. All the playa rides. He’s part owner of some night clubs. He lines up bitches for Pacman and Crabtree when they come in town. One of those promoter dudes.

Wife and I actually performed a triple take on our morning walk along Lakewood Blvd this am…yep, Palm Trees. We exchanged the traditional jokes about the guy and carried on. Gold chains, pitbull, street bike, black leather jacket…OU Rapala lure signed by Toby Keith.

Promotors are awesome. So are palm trees in residential neighborhoods. For that matter, so was MC Hammer’s million dollar entrance gate.
Part owner of some night clubs + pussy wrangler = coke dealer. Otherwise it equals broke.

It’s kind of cool when he shows me text messages from Pacman. Guy spells just like you think he would.
by dedfischer on Jan 31, 2010 7:25 PM CST reply actions
I wouldn’t think he spells at all. I bet NFL DBs are the target market for voice recognition text-messaging software.

I think the one I read was something to the effect of:
“digits fo dem hos las nite.”

I bet he has a “phone guy” in his crew too. That would be the first thing I’d do if I got an NFL contract. After I got a “weed guy” and a “ho guy.”

I wonder if Mike Vick, Pacman, Ray Lewis, and Marvin Harrison ever partied at a pro bowl or super bowl. I’d love to be in that VIP room.

I turned it off after Chad Johnson dropped a TD pass from Vince. Anything special happen after that?
by nordberg on Jan 31, 2010 9:50 PM CST reply actions
Not really. Just a bunch of defensive dudes half-assing it, mostly, and a Romo pick.

I just wanted to say during half-time the interview would of been great if they would have stopped to give all band fans a chance to see The Great Betune-Cookman University Marching Band. There are many fans who follow football based on band. It is a market that is over looked. There were colleges, fans, parents, and family wanting to get a glimpse of there Kid. It drew me to watch the game. But since this I know I will not again and I am a football fan, but a band fan more!
