I left five bucks in your mailbox. It will be waiting there upon your parole.

Taylor Jungmann not getting drafted in the first 23 rounds coming out of high school was one of the more dumb-luck and serendipitous things that has happened to Texas baseball in the last few years. Word is he was a lock for the first four rounds but a few days before the draft it came out he wanted first two round money and teams just passed, and once he started to fall everyone thought he was locked up w/Texas and not worth the wasted pick.

And the kid is only a sophomore. Get ready for a special couple of seasons.

by rickvigorous on Feb 19, 2010 1:44 PM CST reply actions

Jungmann was just foolish in Game 2 against LSU. The outcome of that game was never in doubt because of him.

by nordberg on Feb 19, 2010 1:46 PM CST reply actions

Before we all start sucking his dick for what he did last season, let’s see how he does this season.

by uthookem on Feb 19, 2010 2:08 PM CST reply actions

Really?

by HenryJames on Feb 19, 2010 2:09 PM CST reply actions

HJ will suck his dick right now, thank you very much.

by nordberg on Feb 19, 2010 2:10 PM CST reply actions

Definitely. Pitchers are a fucking odd bunch.

Of course, I’m going to see them play Rice in a few weeks just to see Jungmann pitch.

by uthookem on Feb 19, 2010 2:15 PM CST reply actions

Uthookem, Jungmann was an almost sure pro pick who chose college and went 11-3 with a 2.00 ERA as a freshman at Texas while coming up large on the biggest possible stage. Taylor Jungmann has already arrived.

After watching the football and basketball teams so far this year, can someone at least let me temper my expectations? A little?

by uthookem on Feb 19, 2010 2:41 PM CST reply actions

I think I misread your post uthookem. I guess after getting through football and now baseball season we have gotten used to coaches skull-fucking the heads of promising youth, but remember this team is coached by Augie Garrido. Optimism abounds…

by rickvigorous on Feb 19, 2010 2:43 PM CST reply actions

The football team played for the national championship. Not sure what your expectations were for them, but I think they exceeded most people’s.

by HenryJames on Feb 19, 2010 2:50 PM CST reply actions

this team will look a whole lot like the football team did when Colt McCoy got to play QB the whole game.

by TTomTerrific on Feb 19, 2010 3:00 PM CST reply actions

Have we run-ruled them yet?

by nordberg on Feb 19, 2010 3:04 PM CST reply actions

Not only did I expect us to win the BCS, I thought we were certain to beat the Saints. Damn who-dat nation.

I am optimistic as well, and I highly doubt Jungmann will be associated with any reason we wouldn’t get to Omaha, but would be one of the main reasons should we get there. But, pitchers aren’t right in the head, it’s part of their nature, so I’ll personally hold off on fellating until after the first few starts…

The Last Rap
Tangen had studied with Sengai since childhood. When he was twenty he wanted to leave his teacher and visit others for comparitive study, but Sengai would not permit this. Every time Tangen suggested it, Sengai would give him a rap on the head.

Finally Tangen asked an elder brother to coax permission from Sengai. This the brother did and then reported to Tangen: “It is arranged. I have fixed it for you to start on your pilgrimage at once.”

Tangen went to Sengai to thank him for his permission. The master answered by giving him another rap.

When Tangen related this to his elder brother the other said: “What is the matter? Sengai has no business giving premission and then changing his mind. I will tell him so.” And off he went to see the teacher.

“I did not cancel my permission,” said Sengai. “I just wished to give him one last smack over the head, for when he returns he will be enlightened and I will not be able to reprimand him again.”

3-0 Texas, still in the first. Two big hits from Keyes and Rowe.

by nordberg on Feb 19, 2010 3:14 PM CST reply actions

Never mind, I think Keyes walked. I’m kind of retarded with the Game Tracker.

by nordberg on Feb 19, 2010 3:16 PM CST reply actions

Home run Kyle Lusson. 4-0.

No, Game Tracker is retarded and you two speak the same language.

Nice start for Kyle. He was pretty rough behind the plate last year.

by Vasherized on Feb 19, 2010 3:41 PM CST reply actions

3 strikeouts with RISP. Nice.

by alma on Feb 19, 2010 3:49 PM CST reply actions

Lusson homered, and then bunted himself on. Or as Augie calls it, “1-2”.

by nordberg on Feb 19, 2010 3:57 PM CST reply actions

Rupp with a 2 RBI single up the middle. 6-0.

by Vasherized on Feb 19, 2010 4:05 PM CST reply actions

Brandon Workman came in at number 16 on Keith Law’s top 50 for the 2010 draft.

Trips Right came in at #21 on Youporn’s Top Pervs for 2009.

Is New Mexico semi respectable? Or is this like playing UTEP/Wyoming/UCF/LaMo where I should be upset we are not up by 35 in the first half (or 15 by the 5th inning)?

by 06_UT on Feb 19, 2010 4:28 PM CST reply actions

Only 21? That is worse than the fact that he is high on the list.

Jungmann goes 7 IP 7 H 1 ER 1 BB 8 K.

by HenryJames on Feb 19, 2010 4:35 PM CST reply actions

06, I think they finished 2nd in their conference last year. And besides, 6-1 type games are perfectly acceptable no matter the opponent.

Jungmann goes 7 IP 7 H 1 ER 1 BB 8 K.

Okay, not too shabby, but how many free throws did he miss?

Exactly what I expected to see.

Just got back from the game. Weather was ugly, cold and cloudy. February baseball kind of sucks. Jungmann pitched well but he didn’t have his best stuff. Battled through it and kept runners from advancing. Lusson’s bomb hit the bottom of the scoreboard in right. Good way to kick off the season.

by rickvigorous on Feb 19, 2010 6:22 PM CST reply actions

Jungmann goes 7 IP 7 H 1 ER 1 BB 8 K.

You slurping? I’m one step closer…let’s see what happens a month from now…

Oh, and don’t forget…let’s hope he doesn’t get bored because he knows he has to be here next season as well.

Good start at 1-0.
