Solid start for us thus far……Spoke too soon. Tie game.

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:31 PM CST reply actions

Kantrail Horton, imo.

by Seymour Cray on Mar 10, 2010 8:32 PM CST reply actions

Good start. Bad last two minutes.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:32 PM CST reply actions

Once again, total lack of respect for Mason causes two empty offensive possessions. They could care less if he’s on the court…

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:33 PM CST reply actions

Ball-you-half court defense rearing its ugly head.

by Bartoncreek on Mar 10, 2010 8:34 PM CST reply actions

I understand why Barnes wants to go big, but he needs another shooter on the floor to pull it off.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:35 PM CST reply actions

Looks like we’re going to live and die with Mason.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:37 PM CST reply actions

Wangmene, Mason, Damion, Gary and Jordan…..Interesting lineup….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:37 PM CST reply actions

Bad move by Jordan. He had the three and the foul line J but overpenetrated. Good help transition D by DJ….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:38 PM CST reply actions

Stuck in the deep south for work so I won’t get to watch this one. Probably a good thing.

by Savage Henry on Mar 10, 2010 8:39 PM CST reply actions

Why doesn’t James just catch that? I don’t understand the need to swat it out of bounds. Sigh. Bill Russell.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:39 PM CST reply actions

Block of the year.

We have one shooter and nobody with a handle. Defense is going to have to carry the day.

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 8:39 PM CST reply actions

Good point, Trips. Daryl Dawkins influence….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:40 PM CST reply actions

Nice dime from JH

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:41 PM CST reply actions

Bad decision by Mason, but at least we get the 3rd on their big goon…..

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:43 PM CST reply actions

Why do I think we go on a run here when Mason comes out?

by Bartoncreek on Mar 10, 2010 8:44 PM CST reply actions

Yes! Jai Lucas coming in. He’s so much better than J’Covan Brown. Not to mention Magic Johnson.

by Blake Borron on Mar 10, 2010 8:45 PM CST reply actions

Hill! And automatically gives up a deuce…

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:46 PM CST reply actions

Matt Hill? Really?

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:47 PM CST reply actions

Barnes loves him some self checks on offense. Unreal.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:47 PM CST reply actions

I think JCB made his bed, with lazy defense and dumb offense. Hill!

AB hit a couple of J’s. Hopefully he can get going….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:48 PM CST reply actions

When I think of Matt Hill, I think of physicality.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:49 PM CST reply actions

Hamilton and James playing volleyball.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:50 PM CST reply actions

Damion goes Omen on the rim….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:50 PM CST reply actions

what was the call there?

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 8:51 PM CST reply actions

I don’t think they gave him the NBA continuation although I wish they would. Probably check on the dribble.

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:52 PM CST reply actions

Art, block on the floor. Bad call.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:53 PM CST reply actions

I can’t believe that Barnes is still so adamant about proving his point that he’s willing to go to Matt Hill and Jai Lucas in postseason play. He’s certainly willing to go down with the ship it appears.

by Diego on Mar 10, 2010 8:53 PM CST reply actions

I’m biased though.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:53 PM CST reply actions

If Hamilton stays next year, he’s going to be really, really good. Even if he doesn’t get any help.

by NY Horn on Mar 10, 2010 8:54 PM CST reply actions

Now AB with a dumb hesitant 3 pt attempt.

Announcers said “Matt Hill’s been terrific”. I just turned it on, is this true?

by dick on Mar 10, 2010 8:54 PM CST reply actions

Bradley should have kicked it back to Hamilton there for the three. Fans can’t be surprised that JCB is sitting, can they?

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:54 PM CST reply actions

Avery looks so much more comfortable, Bradley doesn’t.

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 8:55 PM CST reply actions

I meant Hamilton looks more comfortable.

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 8:55 PM CST reply actions

We suck on guarding cutters to the rim. We got beat twice there….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:56 PM CST reply actions

“Announcers said "Matt Hill’s been terrific". I just turned it on, is this true?”

If by setting a couple of picks, falling down and multiple fouls is good play… then yes.

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 8:57 PM CST reply actions

If Dex can’t wreck shop with this group, he’s hopeless.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:57 PM CST reply actions

Damion is sooo much better putting the ball on the floor this year. He couldn’t dribble twice without getting stripped last year…

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:58 PM CST reply actions

Great close out by JH.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:59 PM CST reply actions

Jordan’s cold tonight….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 8:59 PM CST reply actions

Great point Patrick

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:59 PM CST reply actions

…about DJ’s dribble that is.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 8:59 PM CST reply actions

JCB is in!!!! I hope we go 1-4 set at the end of the half. JCB is so lazy….What was that???

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:01 PM CST reply actions

J’Covan gets out of the doghouse and then loafs for a loose ball 10 seconds into his floor time. Wow.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:01 PM CST reply actions

So James takes an off balance shot and Rick takes him out and beats him down when he has played great basketball all game on both ends of the floor? Fuck Rick Barnes.

by Bartoncreek on Mar 10, 2010 9:02 PM CST reply actions

Patrick, you’re right, I don’t want Brown on the floor if he’s not going to give effort.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:02 PM CST reply actions

Barton, is that what happened? I missed it.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:03 PM CST reply actions

Barton,

Damion needed a blow. I don’t think it had to do with the last shot. C’mon….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:03 PM CST reply actions

Hamilton is playing well. Pittman, not so much.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:04 PM CST reply actions

Great entry pass by JH and then great block! He’s shooting poorly, but he’s helping in other ways….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:04 PM CST reply actions

That’s not the way I saw it. Rewatch it and tell me I’m wrong.

by Bartoncreek on Mar 10, 2010 9:05 PM CST reply actions

I would take Dex out here. No need to tempt fate for his 2nd foul…

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:05 PM CST reply actions

It definitely did Patrick. He was bitching him out the entire time.

by Blake Borron on Mar 10, 2010 9:05 PM CST reply actions

Trips, I think you are being too tough on Dex. When your best passer is JH you aren’t a good passing team.

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 9:06 PM CST reply actions

Ugly…

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:07 PM CST reply actions

Art, you’re probably right.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:08 PM CST reply actions

Yes, he gave him lip, but he had been on the floor almost the entire game. He was scheduled to get a blow and his last play was a poor one. He was back a minute later. Not buying it.

We went 1-4 with JCB!!!! And surprise, he made a terrible play….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:08 PM CST reply actions

God what a terrible last shot.

by Blake Borron on Mar 10, 2010 9:08 PM CST reply actions

Well, this is pretty much where we are as a team at this point. A few points better than ISU.

by NY Horn on Mar 10, 2010 9:10 PM CST reply actions

In 1988 I went to NYC and saw almost every game of the Big East tourney at MSG. By the time the championship game came around I was hooped out. Went and saw some tall buildings and shit.

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 9:18 PM CST reply actions

I was hooped out after watching Providence vs. Seton Hall last night. It was like watching the New York Gauchos vs. Houston Hoops.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:25 PM CST reply actions

Who would have thought 4 weeks ago that Hamilton could have a bad shooting half and yet still find ways to help us? Kid still has a long way to go to reach his potential, but he has made tremendous strides in a short period of time. Easily our best passer and he is really a very good rebounder when he gets aggresive. His d is getting better, but that goes without saying. It had to.

Our team, however, sucks ass. You just can’t be good with Mason/Lucas/Brown at the point.

by Bartoncreek on Mar 10, 2010 9:25 PM CST reply actions

Good start to the half…If we could have hit any threes we would be up double digits…

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:27 PM CST reply actions

Gilstrap can have that. Jeez.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:27 PM CST reply actions

Agreed Barton.

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 9:28 PM CST reply actions

As much as James has improved this year off the bounce, I wonder if he might have a chance at being a solid 3 at the next level?

by Bartoncreek on Mar 10, 2010 9:29 PM CST reply actions

Barton, right on point. No one bothers to guard Justin Mason. You won’t see good mid majors with that problem.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:29 PM CST reply actions

Jordan pulled a Hill…..BTW, agreed. JH has turned into our 3rd best player and he’s our best overall talent…

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:30 PM CST reply actions

Did #11 for ISU have a cameo in Schindler’s List?

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 9:32 PM CST reply actions

Kris Kristopherson’s kid, imo

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:33 PM CST reply actions

Damion fucking James

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:36 PM CST reply actions

Can either one of those white dudes on our bench play the point? Serious question, imo.

by Bartoncreek on Mar 10, 2010 9:37 PM CST reply actions

Easy offense right there. Get the little white kid on your hip and back him down.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:38 PM CST reply actions

Hamilton is our best passer.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:39 PM CST reply actions

I never get rolls like that.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:40 PM CST reply actions

Damn nice drive and dish JH. Can he play the point? Eventually, I think he can.

by Bartoncreek on Mar 10, 2010 9:40 PM CST reply actions

We’re going to miss Damian a lot next year. That’s kind of a scary thought.

by NY Horn on Mar 10, 2010 9:40 PM CST reply actions

Nice offensive blockout by Hill on DJ’s drive…

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:41 PM CST reply actions

Barton, Damion’s audtioning for the NBA by guarding Gilstrap.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:42 PM CST reply actions

Damion decided, “fuck it, i’m not losing to ISU.”

by damn on Mar 10, 2010 9:43 PM CST reply actions

Correct me if I’m wrong, but halfway through the 2nd half, do we have any points from the PG position tonight?

by nordberg on Mar 10, 2010 9:44 PM CST reply actions

“Can either one of those white dudes on our bench play the point? Serious question, imo.”

Barton, I was having that exact same thought.

Playing 4 on 5 is killing us, and I’m not seeing all that good of D from Mason, and haven’t all year

by justhookit on Mar 10, 2010 9:45 PM CST reply actions

We need to go grab the best juco point guard out there and promise him a starting role next year. Or the best one and done point guard and offer him 25% ownership in Sugar’s.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:45 PM CST reply actions

Damion needs about 20+ shot/gm the rest of this short season…..

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:45 PM CST reply actions

Hill!!!!

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:45 PM CST reply actions

Barton we’re dead in the water anyway. I’d be trying Hamilton, Dick, Hamilton’s Dick… anyone at PG at this point.

by nordberg on Mar 10, 2010 9:46 PM CST reply actions

Our 1 / 4 set at the end of the half should have Hamilton at the 1.

by justhookit on Mar 10, 2010 9:47 PM CST reply actions

Nordberg,

We have uno points right now from the PG position…..1 assist and 1 TO….We’re playing the binary code….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:48 PM CST reply actions

Lucas is killing us guarding the ball. he can’t keep Garrett in front.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:49 PM CST reply actions

Our defense is hilarious….They can get in the paint off the bounce at will….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:49 PM CST reply actions

or just go down to gregory. plenty of good point guards there.

by damn on Mar 10, 2010 9:50 PM CST reply actions

OK. This is fucked. I’m ready to empty the bench and go 40 minutes of hell every game from here on out. Why the fuck not.

by nordberg on Mar 10, 2010 9:50 PM CST reply actions

Gilstrap traveled. That’s a bullshit foul call.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:51 PM CST reply actions

Dexter paying some immediate dividends!

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:52 PM CST reply actions

Dex is taking over!!

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 9:52 PM CST reply actions

Nice hands by pittman. So frustrating.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:52 PM CST reply actions

Damion James deserves everything he gets and I hope that it’s a lot, Trips.

by Bartoncreek on Mar 10, 2010 9:55 PM CST reply actions

wow what a rebound by damion

by justhookit on Mar 10, 2010 9:56 PM CST reply actions

WHHHHHHHHHHat a board!!! Wow

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:56 PM CST reply actions

Double-double for Damion….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:56 PM CST reply actions

that shouls have been our ball

by justhookit on Mar 10, 2010 9:58 PM CST reply actions

Avery got too deep there, but you can’t fault him for attacking the paint.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:58 PM CST reply actions

Nice move by Gary.

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 9:59 PM CST reply actions

We’re playing great defense after getting Avery on Garrett.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 9:59 PM CST reply actions

That was over the back by the Viking that ISU has out there….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 10:00 PM CST reply actions

Dexter is a difference maker. I don’t understand why he disappeared.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 10:01 PM CST reply actions

I think Dexter loves the Big12 Championship!!!

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 10:01 PM CST reply actions

Oh snap!

by HelmetBoy on Mar 10, 2010 10:01 PM CST reply actions

James, Dex, and Johnson aren’t going to let us lose.

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 10:01 PM CST reply actions

Pittman made that play because he got pissed off on the ball screen he tried to set. Wish he’d play that way all the time.

by justhookit on Mar 10, 2010 10:02 PM CST reply actions

I think Dex loves the ISU frontcourt.

by NY Horn on Mar 10, 2010 10:02 PM CST reply actions

Dexter seems to show back up against the Iowa State’s of the world.

by nordberg on Mar 10, 2010 10:02 PM CST reply actions

Reid Gettys doesn’t understand what happened here, we started keeping ISU out of the paint when we switched Lucas to Christopherson and put Avery on Garrett. ISU has done jackshit on offense since that change.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 10:03 PM CST reply actions

Greg Brackens is a pretty athletic dude.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 10:03 PM CST reply actions

Craig

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 10:04 PM CST reply actions

Horrible bail out call against Johnson.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 10:04 PM CST reply actions

What was Lucas doing there? Good gravy he’s awful.

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 10:06 PM CST reply actions

WE ARE DOMINATING!

The dream is alive. I’m calling my shot right now: we only trail by 3 at half against Baylor.

Bank it.

by Scipio Tex on Mar 10, 2010 10:07 PM CST reply actions

He’s awful, but he’s saved our bacon on offense.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 10:08 PM CST reply actions

Scipio’s just angry that we pulled Matt Hill.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 10:10 PM CST reply actions

What was that, Jordan? Good shot decision, but he needs to knock that down….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 10:10 PM CST reply actions

Brackins gets nasty. Our offense the last three trips has been nasty….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 10:11 PM CST reply actions

do the ISU fans and the Neb fans share clothes?

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 10:12 PM CST reply actions

We need to get something going to the rim.

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 10:13 PM CST reply actions

Damo’s clank

by Trips Right on Mar 10, 2010 10:13 PM CST reply actions

Hey, our two forwards break the press….

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 10:15 PM CST reply actions

We should put Brown in now

by justhookit on Mar 10, 2010 10:17 PM CST reply actions

wtf, we design a play to inbounds to Lucas

by justhookit on Mar 10, 2010 10:18 PM CST reply actions

How does Bradley ever miss a FT with that sweet shot?

by Texoz on Mar 10, 2010 10:20 PM CST reply actions

The problem is, Barnes cares too much about JCB.

by NY Horn on Mar 10, 2010 10:20 PM CST reply actions

Damion puts it away, fittingly, with a rebound…..

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 10:21 PM CST reply actions

Damion James = Warrior

by Art Vandelay on Mar 10, 2010 10:21 PM CST reply actions

what is the story with j’covan

by austin 420 on Mar 10, 2010 10:21 PM CST reply actions

and does rick ever reward or encourage? or just punish. jai did a good job managing tho

by austin 420 on Mar 10, 2010 10:24 PM CST reply actions

big “meaningless” 3 by Iowa St for the cover

by dick on Mar 10, 2010 10:25 PM CST reply actions

damion was playing more like a guard today

by austin 420 on Mar 10, 2010 10:26 PM CST reply actions

Lucas did fine tonight, although that’s not what we need from our point guard in this offense.

by nordberg on Mar 10, 2010 10:27 PM CST reply actions

28 and 16 for Damion. That’s a man’s game.

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 10:28 PM CST reply actions

I think we have a shot against Baylor tomorrow night. We almost beat them in Austin, and that’s more like a neutral court game than a home game, anyway. It would be pretty fucking difficult to have a worse defensive performance, too.

by NY Horn on Mar 10, 2010 10:29 PM CST reply actions

dick,

Anybody that still bets on Texas deserves to lose their money.

J’Covan must have the J’dog house pretty pimped out by now.

by Vasherized on Mar 10, 2010 10:40 PM CST reply actions

J’Covan’s body language on the bench — and for the quick second that he actually got on the court — screamed that of 5-year old who is pissed at dad and is determined to show him his feeling aren’t hurt, and he doesn’t give a fuck.

He is toast.

by srr50 on Mar 10, 2010 10:52 PM CST reply actions

Hill: 3 points
Brown + Lucas + Mason: 3 points combined.

It’s a crying shame that one of the best frontcourts in Texas basketball history is paired up with an equally bad backcourt. Can’t believe I’m saying this considering the preseason hype, but I miss A.J. Abrams.

by guest on Mar 10, 2010 10:53 PM CST reply actions

You know it’s bad when Barnes doesn’t even put in Brown to shoot free throws at the end. In the post-game press conference, someone asked Rick about Jai being ahead of Brown in his rotation. Rick’s answer was simply a praise for Lucas’ solid play. There was no mention of J’Covan.

by guest on Mar 10, 2010 10:55 PM CST reply actions

I think we all can see that barring injury or massive desperation that JCB’s year is done. He’s played poorly an inconsistently the last half of conference play and probably needs a bit of a break from the pressures of big time college basketball. I have hopes that he can be a better player next year and can play with more effort and a better attitude. He can be a very good college basketball player but he has some growing up to do…..

by Patrick Bateman on Mar 10, 2010 11:29 PM CST reply actions

0-3 vs. Baylor. Can’t wait.

by Savage Henry on Mar 11, 2010 12:14 AM CST reply actions

Trips, this team will need a lot of things next year, but a juco point guard won’t be one of them. Read into that what you will.

This team is an absolute and total mess. Damo playing for a contract and an Iowa State team with some locker room issues similar to ours were the only two things that kept our KC trip from ending like we deserved it to.
