Tant Shepard drives in Cohl Walla for an early 1-0 lead. Sounds like something you’d find on a scorecard of Clipper Cooper’s company softball game.

Cole Green takes the hill for the Horns. That’s two Coles and two different spellings if you’re scoring at home.

Brodie Greene is wearing Roger Staubach’s helmet. Brodie? Ha ha ha ha. Ha ha ha ha.

Bill Byrne seen in the stands trying to start a Sit Down Bus Driver cheer after Cole Green gets in a two out jam. Back to back walks. Juaquin Hinojosa at the plate. Now that’s a f’n baseball name. Hinojosa grounds out to end the first. You can thank Cameron Rupp’s day labor joke for the routine grounder.

Second inning ending pick off for the Aggies. Balk, imo.

Jordan Etier with a one out double in the third. Cohl Walla doubles him in 2-0. Oasis says Wonder Walla, imo.

Vasherized’s favorite player, Tant Sheperd, digs in with a man on third and two out. Tant walks. He’s also a firm believer that there’s no “I” in team or tant for that matter.

Augie might bunt here to avoid the pick off.

I hope he does bunt with two outs so Huckleberry will write something.

Brandon Juengel’s on deck circle music is “Wait til I get my money right”. LMFAO. He must be trying to get in with the aggie equestrian team.

It’s more fun to follow on TexAgs as they tend to go a bit extreme in games like this…I wonder if any have ever “squeezed” too hard.

Keyes just went ballpark again for his second home run.
Texas – 12
A&M – 0
Because of Green’s fantastic performance, we haven’t used any pitching at all.
Sweep, tomorrow.

aggie fans new to baseball are encouraged by only losing by two touchdowns in a televised game. Normally it’s more like five.

So a college game in which 14 runs were scored starts two hours after a MLB game starts … and ends an hour and a half before that same MLB game finishes up.
Rockies get their first ever no-hitter.
Caps sleepwalk to a 4-1 deficit in the 3rd period but end up winning 6-5 in OT.
The Miami Wade blows a 14-point lead at Boston, while the two earlier games were only nominally competitive.
English Premier League teams breaded in Icelandic volcano ash.
Astros win.
In short, one of the weirder days in sports that I can remember.

Hadn’t heard this. I’m assuming Street came back early and pitched all nine innings for some reason?
by nordberg on Apr 17, 2010 10:41 PM CDT reply actions
Nah, it was something called Ubaldo Jimenez what threw it.
That leaves San Diego, Tampa and – mysteriously, given some of the names that have gone through there – the Mets as the only teams without no-hitters.
By the way, but NHL playoffs >>>>>>> NBA playoffs. Hockey can be a soulless grind during the regular season, but the game gets completely electrified during the post-season.

Knoblauch went ofer?
I"m guessing when Adam Smith said “fisted” he was talking about the invisible hand. Economists have understood that for the last year and a half.
CJD, To watch playoff hockey is to understand life v death. They literally play like their lives are at stake. And that’s fun.

Re: NHL playoffs, what CJD and mb said. All things considered, probably the best team playoffs in sports.
I’ve often wondered why hockey playoffs seems to be so visitor friendly. The only thing I can think of is that in the enclosed space of the rink, all ice basically is the same. Weather is not a factor, like it can be in baseball and football. Shooting backgrounds are identical. Crowds are kept away by plexiglass, and because the action can turn from one end to the other in just a few seconds, the noise is the same wherever you go. If you want to win a series in the Stanley Cup playoffs, you have to play better than the other guys.

Good stuff Bob.
I’m not a hockey fan, but playoff hockey and Olympic hockey are very compelling. Great team sport, and the skill level really shines this time of year.

“I’ve often wondered why hockey playoffs seems to be so visitor friendly.”
Bob, there are a couple reasons in my opinion. First, there are less distractions on the road and sometimes less pressure. You are solely focused on hockey. Second, the modern day arenas are similar to their NFL counterparts in that they are hollow, soulless, corporate entities that don’t offer the same home ice advantage as the old barns. Old rinks like the Boston Garden, Chicago Stadium, and the Montreal Forum were quirky, unique and they were very loud. 90% of all arenas theses days are interchangeable because they are all the same.
by coloradoag on Apr 18, 2010 11:56 AM CDT reply actions
ag: Your point regarding the old buildings is what I was getting at regarding all ice being the same. I remember in Boston, the area between the blue lines was much smaller because the rink was shorter than standard. The Bruins were comfortable playing there, but no one else seemed to be.
by Bob in Houston on Apr 18, 2010 12:53 PM CDT reply actions
Bob – There was an NHL ice that was not the same size as all the others? That’s funny.
by Drew Dunlevie on Apr 18, 2010 1:09 PM CDT reply actions
Yes, IIRC, all rinks are now 200 X 85. (Olympic rinks are wider.) Boston, I think was 185 feet long.
Of course, when the Bruins stunk, it didn’t matter what size ice they had.

Another blowout at Olsen although a bit of a letdown by Workman. He’s already given up 2 hits through 7. Seven-nuthing Horns in the bottom of the 8th. Moldy just went deep.
