Kevin Durant vs. Lakers: Thunder Victorious!

If Durant can stop George Mikan, the Thunder may have a chance.

And they did.

Star-divide

Thunder - 101
LA - 96

Durant dropped 29 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists. Also, clutch defense on Kobe Bryant down the stretch.

Westbrook shined with 27 points, 8 rebounds and huge onions throughout.

James Harden had 18 off of the bench. Serge Ibaka also played extremely well.

The Detestable Jeff Green offered his typical performance (10 points, 4 rebounds) and Brooks finally benched him so the Thunder could make their run.

We've got a series.

Durant has to lead his team in rebounding f’ing again.

Jesus.

The Thunder have a lot of heart. Hanging in.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:17 PM CDT reply actions

The Thunder remind of Texas over the years. Tough, resilient, but playing 3 on 5 on offense.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:21 PM CDT reply actions

Kevin Durant is Cory Lockridge!

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:25 PM CDT reply actions

Holy Shit! Westbrook pokes it on Odom,!

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:27 PM CDT reply actions

The Durant 3 to tie!

He and Westbrook won’t let it go.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:28 PM CDT reply actions

OKC down only by 1.

Durant has 17 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:31 PM CDT reply actions

I might roll the dice with Harden on Bryant down the stretch and try to turn the game into a scoring fest. The Lakers guard Sefawhatever like he’s Doge Balbay.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:32 PM CDT reply actions

I also like the fact that OKC is attacking the rim this game. Fisher and Artest can’t stay in front whatsoever.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:33 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah, they need Harden bad down the stretch.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:34 PM CDT reply actions

Chewbacca for the lead….Good!

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:35 PM CDT reply actions

If Ibaka keeps hitting that open 18 footer, the Thunder are in great shape.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:35 PM CDT reply actions

Kobe treats Durant like a Colorado hotel employee and then complains about the call. Ha.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:36 PM CDT reply actions

Ibaka!

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:36 PM CDT reply actions

I like Durant on Bryant. You get star power help, and you force Bryant to take his game out of the extended post.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:39 PM CDT reply actions

Scip, if the Thunder go get Monroe, can Ibaka hold up at the five?

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:41 PM CDT reply actions

I’m not sure. He’s only 20. He’s 6-10 tops.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:42 PM CDT reply actions

“Durant has to lead his team in rebounding f’ing again.”

Dude has 17 boards, let him lead the team in rebounding.

by dick on Apr 22, 2010 10:43 PM CDT reply actions

Harden is showing why he’s the future over Green as an investment.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:43 PM CDT reply actions

Durant his fucking with Kobe’s mind. Really? A travel? wow.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:44 PM CDT reply actions

Nice job by Collison there.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:45 PM CDT reply actions

Scipio, I agree on Harden. I haven’t watched OKC all season, so I’m trying to figure out why Green starts.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:46 PM CDT reply actions

Goddamnit Nick.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:46 PM CDT reply actions

make your fts dammit!

by dick on Apr 22, 2010 10:46 PM CDT reply actions

Durant just owned Kobe.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:47 PM CDT reply actions

YOu can’t have Durant on Kobe all game for foul reasons, but KD takes Bryant out of his comfort zone quite nicely it looks like.

I’m loving this team. Damn you guys for getting me pulled in.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:49 PM CDT reply actions

Do you guys think the Thunder should go get a big 2 that can shoot?

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:51 PM CDT reply actions

When you see the upsides of Harden, Ibaka, Durant, and Westbrook, it’s hard not to attach with this team and grow.

They just need to make some careful moves. Particularly in not re-upping with Green with a big contract.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:51 PM CDT reply actions

Durant is absolutely owning Kobe down the stretch.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:51 PM CDT reply actions

LMAO at Artest holding the ball for ten seconds.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:52 PM CDT reply actions

Wow that was a nice step back.

Ice cold, Russell. Ice cold.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:53 PM CDT reply actions

Scip, agreed. So Monroe it is.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:53 PM CDT reply actions

Fish has to be thinking, what the fuck can I do?

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:54 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah Harden is the starting 2 next year. Thabo can be the defensive sub at the 2.

I actually questioned the harden pick. Id take him over curry for defensive purposes

by dick on Apr 22, 2010 10:54 PM CDT reply actions

“Scip, agreed. So Monroe it is.”

enough of that talk

by dick on Apr 22, 2010 10:55 PM CDT reply actions

Fucking “Return to Pandora” bullshit. I’m getting tired of these commercials and all the ads on ESPN.com as well

by UT_06 on Apr 22, 2010 10:55 PM CDT reply actions

Ekpe Udoh paired with Ibaka and Durant on the baseline would be a pretty solid rim-defending frontcourt.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:56 PM CDT reply actions

dick, what do you have against a better passing Chris Bosh?

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:56 PM CDT reply actions

The Thunder need to finish. This is big for their development.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:57 PM CDT reply actions

Bosh is athletic, you twit. Monroe runs like Brad Daugherty on qualudes.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 10:58 PM CDT reply actions

Derek Fisher hasn’t been able to stay in front of anyone for years – much less Westbrook.

by Puedlfor on Apr 22, 2010 10:59 PM CDT reply actions

Onions! Association style!

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 10:59 PM CDT reply actions

Bosh is a good leaper, but he’s not quicker than Monroe.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 11:00 PM CDT reply actions

I like how Artest hugged Durant on that possession.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 11:00 PM CDT reply actions

“dick, what do you have against a better passing Chris Bosh?”

“Bosh is athletic, you twit. Monroe runs like Brad Daugherty on qualudes.”

and you answered your own question with “Ekpe Udoh paired with Ibaka and Durant on the baseline would be a pretty solid rim-defending frontcourt.”

by dick on Apr 22, 2010 11:01 PM CDT reply actions

Artest can’t help himself.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 11:02 PM CDT reply actions

Finally, a call on Artest.

Jackson’s sense of entitlement is absurd.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 11:02 PM CDT reply actions

KD free throw time. Hopefully gets to 30-20-5

whoa bringing in Green for Ibaka as a defensive crunch time replacement?

by dick on Apr 22, 2010 11:03 PM CDT reply actions

and Green with the clutch rebound

by dick on Apr 22, 2010 11:04 PM CDT reply actions

Sefolosha is a moron. He panics on the in-bound constantly. Did it in the regular season twice.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 11:05 PM CDT reply actions

Gasol fouls like a soccer hooligan.

by Trips Right on Apr 22, 2010 11:06 PM CDT reply actions

They brought in Green to cover shooters. It’s not coincidence that they had him on the pine for the rally.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 11:06 PM CDT reply actions

I like how the PG and the SF were far and away the leading rebounders for the Thunder. Oh wait, no I don’t.

by bighornfan32 on Apr 22, 2010 11:06 PM CDT reply actions

Durant reminds me of Vince. Clutch with a confidence that just IS, not forced.

by Balltastic Motivization on Apr 22, 2010 11:07 PM CDT reply actions

The most impressive thing about this game has been KD’s defense on Kobe in the 4th quarter.

by VictoryLap on Apr 22, 2010 11:07 PM CDT reply actions

“Sefolosha is a moron. He panics on the in-bound constantly. Did it in the regular season twice.”

fuck. this. KD’s clutchitude at the FT line will prove extemely valuable in playoffs series for him over the next 15 years

by dick on Apr 22, 2010 11:08 PM CDT reply actions

Jeff Green with two huge rebounds in the last minute. I just say his Two middle fingers salute extended toward San Fran

by dick on Apr 22, 2010 11:10 PM CDT reply actions

+15 on the boards today, and the Thunder had 34 FTs. They keep this up and they may stick around a little while longer in the playoffs. The way the Lakers jumped out early I thought it may have been a sweep coming.

by EggNog on Apr 22, 2010 11:11 PM CDT reply actions

Nice. I hate all things Okla but I have to go for Durant. I just pretend the our playing in Boise with those colors or something.

Durant is about to stumble into being a great defensive player. You always knew he would score 30 in the NBA. But I am surprised out how he is developing his length into some serious D.

by Balltastic Motivization on Apr 22, 2010 11:13 PM CDT reply actions

I know you’re fucking with me, but you need to check when Green left the court and when the Thunder rally occurred.

If you want 3.7 rebounds per game in a playoff series out of your starting power forward, then Jeff is the man.

by Scipio Tex on Apr 22, 2010 11:14 PM CDT reply actions

think he lead the big 12 in steals and blocks during conference play his one year at texas.

by dick on Apr 22, 2010 11:16 PM CDT reply actions

Scip,

just effing with you. I think Green would be a very solid 3 off the bench worth maybe 5 year-32M which is the full MLE. Unfortunately, he’ll get 50% more than that so i would move on if i were Presti unless KD claims Green would effect his decision to resign long term.

by dick on Apr 22, 2010 11:32 PM CDT reply actions

Holy crap. Just wait until the Thunders NBA nuts actually drop and they get a bruiser to protect KD. Does Mo Lucas or Rich Mahorn have any kids?

by Tick Tock McGraw on Apr 22, 2010 11:51 PM CDT reply actions

Does the Taliban have Stop-Loss? If so, James Harden is fucked.

Kenny Smith just said Durant will be the best player in the NBA in three years. Webber made some silly noises.

My son hit a homer and made a phenomenal catch at baseball tonight. So I hit the Bombay. I am now craving Texadelphia with a Torchy’s chaser.

by Sailor Ripley on Apr 22, 2010 11:54 PM CDT reply actions

I am talking an old school Truck Robinson, Gus Johnson, Rick Mahorn type of player who didn’t need a freaeking headband and two arms full of tats to look tougher alone send a message. The type of guy who would loosen 5 filing and render you infertile with a pick. Gretzky had Messier to protect his ass. Walton had Lucas. Isiah and Dumars had Mahorn.

Shit. M.L Carr would be the toughest man in league in today’s NBA.

by Tick Tock McGraw on Apr 23, 2010 12:03 AM CDT reply actions

I miss some Texadelphia.

by Balltastic Motivization on Apr 23, 2010 12:34 AM CDT reply actions

Durant playing real defense. Rick Barnes taught him that.

Well, some of it, anyway.

by Bob in Houston on Apr 23, 2010 7:50 AM CDT reply actions

Torchy’s victory breakfast, imo. I hope my eating there helps Sailor’s gin-soaked hangover.

by Vasherized on Apr 23, 2010 8:17 AM CDT reply actions

I don’t get hangovers. Hangovers get me.

by Drew Dunlevie on Apr 23, 2010 10:35 AM CDT reply actions

Not sure why you guys are discussing Monroe (who by the way is much less athletic/quick than Bosh—not even close) and Udoh, because they’ll be gone by the end of the lottery. Does OKC have somebody else’s pick or something (I checked ESPN and they say no)?

by Blake Borron on Apr 23, 2010 11:27 AM CDT reply actions

The Thunder do have the 21st, 26th, 32nd, and 51st picks in the draft, plus a wildcard in Jeff Green, so they definitely have some wiggle room to move up. I think the 21st, 32nd, and Green sounds about right to trade up for Cousins or Monroe (although you ARE losing value, since Green was vastly overdrafted at 5 a few years back). Then take somebody like Dominique Jones, Jordan Crawford, or even Damion James at 26, and a project like Jerome Jordan at 51 (great value pick), or Da’Sean Butler, who is seemingly very undervalued in this draft.

How does that sound?

by Blake Borron on Apr 23, 2010 11:42 AM CDT reply actions

Monroe is going to go around 8 and Udoh is around 12, the Thunder would have to move up to get either. We are assuming they could move up 10 spots or so with their picks and their assets like Green. Presti will probably sit tight. There are actually a lot of decent big guys out there in the first round.

by dick on Apr 23, 2010 8:02 PM CDT reply actions

Looking at most mock draft projections, the end of the 1st round is terrible for big men. Daniel Orton is there, but he sucks. I don’t think Udoh is worth trading up for.
