NCAA Tournament from 65 to 68 Teams
The NCAA actually did something right.
srr50 can add something about the TV deal. CBS and Turner got the rights and every game will be shown. This is huge and makes me extremely happy.

Yeah, I’m trying to figure out why the NCAA did the right thing here. I was already resigned to them ruining my favorite sporting event and yet they chose not to and at the same time will make this event even better by putting all the games on separate channels at the same time rather than just one regional game. I’m freaking elated.

srr-
So this totally kills the ESPN March Madness PPV thing, right? How much money was that?
I assume it’s dwarfed by the additional broadcast ad deals with every game being on over the air or cable.
Talk to us, srr.

Yeah, I completely expected that the NCAA would gut March Madness, make conference tournaments completely redundant, and continue to make it difficult or impossible to watch the games I want to watch. So this is both amazing and cool.

Sailor… yep. I’m now released from DirecTV, if I want to be. MMM was why I wanted satellite.

A happy dick is a productive dick.
WTHeck? The NCAA, getting something right? Was the “96 team” formula posturing for this deal?
For once the NCAA didn’t hate our freedom, or embrace terrorists.

Yeah, Bob. Mega March Madness. That’s it. Couldn’t remember the name.

Great news. Surprising, but outstanding. Love the coverage change…

How will the extra four teams be included?
What will the brackets look like?
Are the four extra teams just play-in games?
The article did not mention any of that aspect of the new deal.

I’d imagine that 61-68 would have play in games to go vs. #1 seeds….

Great news. I wonder if the NCAA responded to the massive pushback they got or if there’s something more.

Next year’s chairman said last week that he was for 68 but definitely against 96. I don’t care what anyone says — seeding 96 would be a nightmare. I guess they have the money they want, so they don’t need 96.
This keeps the bubble more or less intact and that’s good for business.
