Rice vs Texas (6:30 Central): Your Regional Open Thread

Aggies and Baylor are both currently losing 5-3 and 2-1 respectively. The Aggies are the one-loss team in the championship game versus Miami and are playing for a chance to play for the regional tomorrow night. Baylor plays as the one-loss team later tonight against TCU.

Star-divide

K-State is down 3 in the 8th and facing elimination.

Oklahoma plays Nawth Klina tonight at 7 for the regional win.

Rice looked good earlier today in a 9-1 romp over the Ragin' Cajuns. Jungmann is the likely starter. Absurdly, the game will not be televised but is viewable here. Texas is in a very nice position going into this game as they ostensibly have a 1-game lead in a 3-game series. If Texas can own their destiny they have a chance.

Jungmann is dealing

by maninblack on Jun 6, 2010 6:31 PM CDT reply actions

Nice 4-6-3 DP to get Rendon and Seastrunk off the bases. Those same defensive plays early in the game yesterday were big.

And Jungmann K’s to end the inning.

0-0 heading to top of 3rd.

Walla takes a called third strike for his second K of the game. 2-11 in the series.

Horns go down 1-2-3 and this game is flying by faster than HenryJames through International Customs.

4 K’s for Jungmann. Looks fantastic so far.

Moldy needed to move the runner there

Way to go Cameron!

Rupp comes through with another hit, plating Shepherd with an RBI single.

1-0 Texas heading to bottom of 4th.

Stafford scored with Hague’s sister, at least according to the advertisement she just held up.

Jungmann owns Rendon

by maninblack on Jun 6, 2010 7:18 PM CDT reply actions

Wow. Awesome play by Rupp and Loy.

Good steal by Jordan

Aggies closed out the win against Miami and will get to play tomorrow. Baylor and TCU are scoreless.

Running errors are maddening

And then he fucks it up

by maninblack on Jun 6, 2010 7:29 PM CDT reply actions

Defense has been key to this game so far. Loy pick and throw out was impressive.

by rickvigorous on Jun 6, 2010 7:32 PM CDT reply actions

Insurance runs here in the 6th would be nice.

Leadoff walk for Loy gets things going.

by rickvigorous on Jun 6, 2010 7:36 PM CDT reply actions

Leadoff runner on for Texas on top of the 6th. Boogie walks Loy in five pitches. Need to get some runs on the board.

by Vasherized on Jun 6, 2010 7:36 PM CDT reply actions

Risky call challenging Moldy there. RBI double to center.

by rickvigorous on Jun 6, 2010 7:43 PM CDT reply actions

Rice brings in relief after the Moldenhauer double.

by rickvigorous on Jun 6, 2010 7:44 PM CDT reply actions

Moldy makes Graham pay for not walking him or putting in a righthander by ripping a double in the right center gap, scoring Loy.

Huge hit. You get the sense the Horns won’t need a big cushion to pull this one out the way Jungmann and Ruffin have been pitching.

boom?

Moldenhauer!!

Jungmann is a fucking beast on the mound. Nasty.

by Vasherized on Jun 6, 2010 8:19 PM CDT reply actions

Ho hum. Pitching, defense, and timely power.

by Vasherized on Jun 6, 2010 8:21 PM CDT reply actions

Most college teams don’t make that play to end the inning. Big. Very big.

by Art Vandelay on Jun 6, 2010 8:31 PM CDT reply actions

Our defense is just amazing for a college team.

by ransomstoddard on Jun 6, 2010 8:32 PM CDT reply actions

ballgame. See you next weekend in Austin.

by Vasherized on Jun 6, 2010 8:47 PM CDT reply actions

they will have a good challenge in TCU…Frogs should have been a top 8 seed…should be a good series.

by Fundamentals on Jun 6, 2010 8:51 PM CDT reply actions

The Frogs staff is legit. I’m looking forward to seeing Matt Purke.

by maninblack on Jun 6, 2010 9:41 PM CDT reply actions

Coach Garrido, after the game: “What you are seeing is a composite of teamwork, unselfishness, and just sticking to basic fundamentals.”

Watch out. This could get fun.
