Lane Kiffin Continues Teaching Dale Carnegie Course

May I, kick a little something for the G's
and, make a few friends as I breeze, through.

Star-divide

It was just announced that (erstwhile) Tennessee Titans Running Back coach Kennedy Pola will leave Nashvegas for Troy. He put in a good seven months.

Fisher noted that Pola notified him on Saturday and that Fisher wasn't ever contacted by Lane Kiffin, Monte Kifin, OJ Simpson, Petros Papadakis, OJ Mayo, Reggie Bush, Hector or anyone associated with the Trojans.

Doesn't NFL football start in like a week or something? Wow.

Jeff Fisher had these comments:

“I am very disappointed in Lane Kiffin’s approach to this. Typically speaking when coaches are interested in hiring or discussing potential employment from coaches on respective staffs there is a courtesy call made from the head coach or athletic director indicating there is an interest in talking to the assistant. So I am very disappointed in the lack of professionalism on behalf of Lane, to call me and leave me a voice mail after Kennedy had informed me he had taken the job. It is just a lack of professionalism."

Jeff Fisher played college ball at USC. Snicker.

Lane Kiffin. Making friends wherever he goes.

Hopefully, this doesn't screw anything up with the Vince Young Comeback Tour.

I’ll take over for Pola. “Here Chris, run fast, no Chris, that way!! Alright Chriiiiiisss! Well done.”

Why can’t Dad keep a leash on his kid?

I realize at this point that the question is somewhat rhetorical, but for a guy who had a great reputation, he sure didn’t teach his son anything about class.

Maybe this is why dad never got a head job. Apple/tree.

I’d like to see Kiffin tied to a chariot and dragged around Los Angeles’ (gated community) walls.

How about real footage of the stuntman that died during the filming of Ben Hur.

I know, classy magnus.

Something no one has mentioned is how this reflects on Kennedy Pola. He is ditching the Titans a week before training camp. The Titans fired Earnest Byner after he coached Chris Johnson to a 2000 yard season because they had so much regard for Pola.

Also, why is USC wait so long to fill the position? I don’t recall anyone leaving recently other than AD Mike Garrett.

by BornOrange on Jul 24, 2010 8:46 PM CDT reply actions

I think they just got rid of the running back coach that knew all about Reggie’s situation. You wouldn’t want any coaches that knew about that on the payroll. It brings much shame and dishonor to the University.

if pola is coming to usc…thats huge he is my hero-p

Pola is the best coach ive ever been around and a better person and a dear friend…he can make great backs -p

Apparently Pola second choice after Eric Bieniemy turned Kiffin down. When Bieniemy is the ethical compass, it’s a bit of shit show, yes?

by Sailor Ripley on Jul 24, 2010 9:08 PM CDT reply actions

I love the notion that anyone coached Chris Johnson to a 2,000 yard season.

by Scipio Tex on Jul 24, 2010 9:13 PM CDT reply actions

Bob,
That’s right. I completely forgot about Todd McNair being fired. Or as Lane Kiffen put it, his contract expired and they just didn’t re-hire him. Of course, it was purely coincidental that the NCAA decision came around the same time.

Scipio,
I’m not saying that Byner was largely responsible for Johnson’s success. It’s just that you normally don’t see position coaches fired in the NFL when one of their players performs at a historic level. It’s a CYA move.

by BornOrange on Jul 24, 2010 11:26 PM CDT reply actions

Over/under on how many seasons Kiffin makes it before he gets fired? I say he makes it two.

by Newy25 on Jul 25, 2010 10:10 AM CDT reply actions

I’m fascinated in a train-wreck kind of way that Bieniemy was his first choice. Is Kiffin suddenly that concerned about SC’s recruiting in South Central?

Throw Neuheisel into the mix, and this should eventually have an awesome Hollywood-blockbuster multiple-NCAA-investigations ending for both programs.

Two seasons sounds about right, particularly with Haden as the new AD.

I live 2 miles from Lane’s high school, so I occasionally run into people that knew him back then. All have confirmed his uber-douscheness.

Perhaps some luvox would help his problem, if only there were a website where he could find some.

by stuckinmn on Jul 25, 2010 12:45 PM CDT reply actions

Monte Kiffin: Todd McNair.
AD Haden: Who’s he?
Lane Kiffin: You know, squirrely looking guy, mumbles a lot. Looks the other way when players get cash from agents.
AD Haden: Oh, yeah.
Monte Kiffin: Yeah, we can’t actually find a record of him being a current employee here.
Lane Kiffen: I looked into it more deeply and I found that apparently what happened is that he was laid off five years ago when Reggie left, and no one ever told him about it; but through some kind of glitch in the payroll department, he still gets a paycheck.
Monte Kiffin: So we just went ahead and fixed the glitch.
AD Haden: Great.
Petros: So, uh, Todd has been let go?
Monty Kiffen: Well, just a second there, professor. We, uh, we fixed the glitch. So he won’t be receiving a paycheck anymore, so it’ll just work itself out naturally.
Lane Kiffen: We always like to avoid confrontation, whenever possible. Problem is solved from your end.

The RB coach for the Titans is suppose to be great. Anybody can be great coach in a year or two; when you have a Chris Johnson running the ball and a Vince Young as dual threat QB.

by striker on Jul 25, 2010 5:11 PM CDT reply actions

While Lane Kiffen is what he is, I have always liked his dad . . . but not for his coaching. It’s for his role in Oklahoma getting slapped with its second NCAA probation.

When Monte was being recruited out of high school in Nebraska, he was the center of a hotly contested tug of war between Oklahoma and Nebraska, then coached by Bill Jennings, a former OU assistant. Anyway, Kiffen’s recruitment was one of the reasons Jennings made good on a threat to go to the NCAA with knowledge about an illegal recruiting fund that OU had. When the Sooners wouldn’t honor the NCAA’s request to see records of the fund, OU was banned from playing in a bowl after the 1960 season.

I would like Monte Kiffen a lot more if the bowl ban kept a 10-0 Sooner team sitting at home . . . but since they went 3-6-1, I just like him a little bit. . . . .But that’s still a lot more than I like his son.

We definitely do not throw the Kiffen name around with the same pride we used to up NU way. Dad may not overtly commit blunders and acts of toolery like his dickheaded offspring, but the guilt by association is becoming too great to ignore.

I know blood is thicker than water, but we’re long past time for Monte to take that boy over his knee one more time.

How in God’s name does a guy getting paid $4 million a year turn hiring an OC at USC into a lawsuit? How is that POSSIBLE?
