The Lazarus Ankle
Hallelujah!
It sounds like St. Brett, aka Lazarus of the Four Retirements is back, baby!!!
The Vikings sent Jared Allen, Winston Wolf, Steve Hutchinson and Ryan Longwell to Mississippi to break up a Wranglers commercial shoot, stuff Brett back in the Longship and head on back to the land of 10,000 lakes.
Man, it will be good seeing him running around out there again this season, like a kid, just having fun.

You did this specifically to antagonize me.
Die Favre.

He just has such a youth about him, he truly loves the game of football.

As someone who takes the events of pro sports slightly more seriously than, say, pro wrestling, I say good. The NFL is more fun with Favre.
by nordberg on Aug 17, 2010 3:56 PM CDT reply actions
He’d play for free Scipio. For the love of the game.
He’d play for free.

You guys think you’re being funny, but….this is SERIOUS.
Everything is going to unravel.
Everything.

Indeed, it’s his youthful exuberance that captivates America. Just out there gunslingin’.
by Flint Ironstag on Aug 17, 2010 4:04 PM CDT reply actions
He’s so carefree out there. The interceptions and losses don’t even bother him anymore. Though at his advanced age that’s possibly because of Alzheimers.

If I could just get Brett to autograph my Mack Brown-signed copy of One Heartbeat I would die a happy man, and I bet he’d do that for free, too.

Cheer up Scip
There is one positive to this. At the end of the year, once again Brett Favre will play Lucy to MinnesotaHorn’s Charlie Brown
It’s almost like making MH watch Staubach to Pearson on a loop.

Someone’s gonna have to remove his head and bury it separately for this to stop.
by triplehorn on Aug 17, 2010 4:24 PM CDT reply actions
Well, one positive I can find in this -
we can’t truly be inundated with NFL Tebow until Favre is gone.
by Nero on Aug 17, 2010 4:27 PM CDT reply actions
I can actually envision the normally even-tempered Scipio absolutely losing his shit in true CloseToJumping fashion right now.
And it’s glorious.

“Someone’s gonna have to remove his head and bury it separately for this to stop.”
I bet House of Spears will gladly oblige but we’ll have to wait til week 3.

@Jrog, @triplehorn and Muted Minnie Horn FTW.

Hopefully this spurs that attention whore Jen Sterger to release his drunken voice messages and other wacky comeons as reported on deadspin (to whatever degree anything on deadspin can be termed “reporting”)
by hodad on Aug 17, 2010 5:17 PM CDT reply actions
I sure hope she’s just a regular whore too. She’s easy on the eyes.

If anyone needs me I’ll be down on South Congress distributing Favre literature.

I feel so sorry for Minny fans already. I want some predictions of how he exits the season this year. I say it’s in the NFC semi-finals against dem Cowboys. 2nd and long with 4:40 left, down by 10. Rolls out of the pocket, has time, Sidney Rice gets open down field. The signature Favre deep ball/chuck. INT. Them boys run out the clock, Jerry Jones lights a cigar, and Brett smiles like a child. He goes back to Mississippi to feed and hibernate until the summer when he begins the cycle all over.

Scipio,
I have a special martini on the menu for you tonight featuring Brut musk, distilled boudin, liquid vicodin, and Stoli Favre.
by Vasherized on Aug 17, 2010 6:28 PM CDT reply actions
Speaking of Vicodin, what are the league’s substance testing policies in this case. As long as he is “retired” he is not subject to any of the drug testing that the other players are, correct?

Come on guys, Brett’s all about the team now. He understands his role in the system. The Vikings are AD’s team and win with strong D.
He’s got his ring and just wants to do what he can to help the Vikings get theirs.
by Bateshorn on Aug 17, 2010 7:34 PM CDT reply actions
And make a few friends as he breezes through. Very casual. Lots of fun. He may not even do interviews.
by Sailor Ripley on Aug 17, 2010 10:24 PM CDT reply actions
Why just white guys recruiting him? Racist, imo.
Just like in the backyard when we was kids. Brett slingin and we all laughin.
Havin fun.

Count me amongst those who believe he’s milking the ankle deal to avoid practice and still look okay in public perception.
Uncertain old hero who keeps getting drawn back into the game is more appealing than lazy, manipulative money-seeker.
by Nickel Rover on Aug 18, 2010 12:23 AM CDT reply actions
All that and a $3 million dollar raise from $13 million to $16 million AND another $4 million in incentives…..that come to a cool million per game if he makes it through the season….and to be fair he usually does.

I feel so sorry for Minny fans already.
You feel sorry for Minnesota fans because Favre is going to be their QB instead of Tavaris Jackson?

Is he really better than Sage Rosenfels? I’ll hang up and listen.
