Texas/Southern Cal home-and-home
Discuss below. It seems like we are toughening up the schedule to the point where we view football independence as a possibility but not a certainty.
We now have Notre Dame and USC lined up for six consecutive seasons, although never both in the same year.

This is fantastic news.
Whether the upgraded OOC scheduling has to do with the Independent possibility or simply a recognition that our future Big 12 slates are atrocious offenses to good football and good taste, I love the net result.
Props to the athletic department.

Holy shit. What years is this being played out?
by babytime on Aug 26, 2010 2:55 PM CDT reply actions
So we have OOC games scheduled against UCLA, USC, Notre Dame, and BYU… Are we sure we didn’t join the PAC-10 when we weren’t looking?
by WanderingHorn on Aug 26, 2010 3:08 PM CDT reply actions
So right about the time they should be recovering from their Bans?
It seems like we don’t schedule the ACC very often. FSU, Vtech, or Miami would be nice.

This is verifiable proof that Mack Brown will be gone by 2015. :)
Oh and Randy… just announced that we’ll play UTEP in 2016. So that year’s OOC is done.

ACC has some of Butch’s targets, but one thing or another prevents it from happening
Teams talked about are Miami Maryland BC VaTech and North Carolina.
by scagnetti on Aug 26, 2010 3:21 PM CDT reply actions
In 2011, one of those teams will be bumped due to the 9 game conference schedule. If CU doesn’t leave until 2012, two teams get bumped.

This is great news. I can imagine Muschamp in Butch’s office tearing off his shirt Hulkamania style screaming at him to get USC on the schedule.

Why don’t we just keep CU on as an OOC? Can’t be any worse than UTEP.
by Gman on Aug 26, 2010 3:36 PM CDT reply actions
this also prolly means that ASU is off the table and we’ll be done with the Pac12 for awhile, Big11 will continue to be a problem, so look for those ACC teams far beyond this future.
the remaining OOC dates will likely be filled in with home and homes with Cougar High starting soon. Another round with Arkansas and/or TCU is possible but a 50/50 at best. Other than that, I have no clue as to what will be next.

We need to schedule the U and administer an big-time ass-whuppin’ while those of us still seething over the ’90 Cotton Bowl (an old wound freshly opened by ESPN 30-30…thank you very much assholes) remain this side of Alzheimers.

Uh oh, here comes John Parker Lopez:
@ESPN_Big12 As Lopez said, ’Horns will be independent by 2013 at the latest. Non-conf w/ N.D., BYU, now USC, plus OU and A&M every year. 42 minutes ago via web in reply to ESPN_Big12by My WIFI knows everything. The WIFI doesn't know. on Aug 26, 2010 4:07 PM CDT reply actions
scagnetti -
We’re not scheduling Cougar High. They burned that bridge.
I strongly doubt Arkansas makes an appearance.
by Scipio Tex on Aug 26, 2010 4:18 PM CDT reply actions
Huck – can you please provide the Longhorns’ probabilities of victory in these games? The calculations don’t need to satisfy your typical standards of exactitude. Seven or eight significant digits will do.
by BrickHorn on Aug 26, 2010 4:39 PM CDT reply actions
Anybody that says ‘significant digits’ has got to be an engineer.
However, I do remember the first time I had my significant digits (three of them, in fact) into little suzy rottencrotch…good times (and yes, I’m an engineer).
Oh, football. USC – awesome, especially the timing RE: just coming off of probation.

Colorado probly wants to stop getting their asses whipped by us.

I strongly doubt Arkansas makes an appearance.
Scip, Arkansas pushed back the return from the most recent contract to at least 2014 in order to take on the Aggies. If UT expects that game to be played then, it explains why there is no second 2014 date yet.
If Maryland is the target for the 2017-18 series, then I expect they’d be happy with that framework. There would be room for one buy game per year.
All of this activity looks to me like a protective action in case there is widespread realignment in 2016.

Holy crap! We’re sceduling out 10 years! This is a huge about-face from a couple years ago..
We arrived at 2007 (coming off an awesome home-and-home with Ohio State) with no marquis names on the OOC. TCU was our big game that year (ugg), and everyone was talking about how Mack/Deloss may never schedule marquis names again.

Using MBTXFB & FBSchedules.com the line up looks as follows:
2011 Rice, BYU, @UCLA, UCF (at least 1 has to go depending on CU situation)
2012 Wyoming, @Ole Miss,
2013 New Mex. St., @BYU, Ole Miss
2014 North Texas, BYU
2015 @Notre Dame, Cal
2016 Notre Dame, @Cal, UTEP
2017 @USC
2018 USC
2019 Notre Dame
2020 @Notre Dame
Maryland was mentioned but I thought it was not finalized.
by Don Gato on Aug 26, 2010 7:20 PM CDT reply actions
I usually don’t trust any site but MB-TF on schedules. That said, New Mexico State lists the 2013 game, while UT does not. North Texas doesn’t list future schedules, at least that I can find.
Kirk Bohls and a DC blog say the Maryland deal is done, but it’s not up yet either.
by Bob in Houston on Aug 26, 2010 9:31 PM CDT reply actions
Apparently the Maryland deal is on for 2017 – 18 according to DC blog:
2011 Rice, BYU, @UCLA, UCF (at least 1 has to go depending on CU situation)
2012 Wyoming, @Ole Miss,
2013 New Mex. St., @BYU, Ole Miss
2014 North Texas, BYU
2015 @Notre Dame, Cal
2016 Notre Dame, @Cal, UTEP
2017 @USC, Maryland
2018 USC, @Maryland (FedEx field, http://tinyurl.com/37l5nud)
2019 Notre Dame
2020 @Notre Dame

I wonder how much of the uptick in scheduling is due to the need to sell BEVO-D? The games will actually be on ABC or ESPN, but they will create a bigger buzz around UT sports, making the channel more marketable.
by TaylorTRoom on Aug 27, 2010 6:50 AM CDT reply actions
BevoD will be able to replay these games a day or two after, correct? Doe BevoD already have the rights to replay older games?
by UT-06 on Aug 27, 2010 9:41 AM CDT reply actions
Oh, and any rumors as to who will be the 3rd opponent in o-12 and o-14? Based on the rest of the schedule, it looks like there will be another ‘big name’ team. Since we have BYU in o-12, I think they’d be looking for a BCS school. Picking up Utah would be amusing.
by UT-06 on Aug 27, 2010 9:51 AM CDT reply actions
I would prefer it if we moved UCF to ’15 or ’17 OR BYU to ’12
by Don Gato on Aug 27, 2010 2:02 PM CDT reply actions
I don’t see why Rice won’t continue. Think about this. We get a 2 home games versus 1 away for Rice and even that one game is at Reliant where its a virtual home game for Texas.
Rice makes more on that home-game than any other home game and we ALWAYS pay well for the slaughtered lambs.
I could see Rice being announced soon for 2015, 2017 and 2018.
by Orangechipper on Aug 27, 2010 8:20 PM CDT reply actions
The 2011 UCF at Texas game has been moved to 2017.

Now you might have your new site and also you’re keen to start making some sales! But, how are you going to make sales in the event you should not have high volumes of holiday makers to your website?
