I missed this news when it surfaced a week ago so in case you did too, here's the deal: When asked earlier this year what the athletic department might do to help the football program succeed, Colorado Head Coach Dan Hawkins suggested a contract extension.
Apparently, with a straight face.
Dan's apparently tired of letting Colorado freeload its way to a %32 winning percentage for a paltry million and a half bucks a year. Now while Colorado athletic director Mike Bohn was apparently, ahem, 'surprised' by Hawkins' request, it's rumored that upon hearing the news a number of US automotive industry executives nodded approvingly and commented on a loud, clanging noise.
