Tevin Jackson is no longer in school
Texas freshman linebacker Tevin Jackson from Garland is no longer enrolled because of some lingering high school transcript issues that haven't been resolved with the NCAA. It looks like he won't be playing this fall, and if he doesn't get everything squared away he won't be able to enroll until the spring.
Nice work by both the NCAA and the Texas academic staff, imo.
Update:official release.

Although he’d be redshirting anyway, it would have certainly been preferable to have him in school and practicing.
I blame Mark May. I don’t know why, but fuck that guy.

Don’t miss THujone’s MS Paint college football predictions, which include a shot at May and Holtz.

Without knowing any details of this latest trainwreck, why do I automatically smell more incompetence from Brian Davis?

Because the trend is your friend?

Brian Davis’ email : brian.davis@athletics.utexas.edu
This is getting damn near ridiculous. Do your job Brian Davis. I hate to call him a Mack Brown cronie, but Brian Davis is Mack Brown cronie.
Yeah Brian you’re one of Mack’s guys, but you can’t keep Christian Scott and Brandon Collins eligible last year. Don’t tell me last season doesn’t go a little differently last year with Scott and Collins playing. At the very least the Nebraska and OU games would have been more comfortable wins, and Scott would probably practiced in a LB/S roll to get ready for Ingram and Richardson.
Davis you are incompetent. If Davis was in the private sector he would have been s*** canned long, long ago. People get fired every day for not doing their job well, it’s different if you work for Mack Brown.
Davis might be the most poorly performing member of Texas Football staff. Greg Reese was better at his job.

I’m not going to hang Collins on Davis because he had a history and was/is a guy that might not be recruited at this stage. Some
The Scott thing was complete horseshit.

Don’t know why that “some” made it in there.

This whole thing has Bob Stoops written all over it.

How the hell in today’s world when documents can be sent in seconds instead of days does this shit not get reconciled sooner?
Does anyone know whether or not Jackson attended Garland or a Garland ISD high school for four years?
by Davey O'Brien on Sep 3, 2010 12:07 AM CDT reply actions
DOB – by the looks of it, he probably has attended for about 10 years. Kid looks like he’s 30 years old, lol.

Maybe so. My point is that if he has attended multiple high schools it sometimes can be tricky to determine what classes qualify as core classes or not. If I am not mistaken that was the case with Ross. Klein Collins lost Jacob Bennett for his senior season because of confusion on his transcript from Alabama. If Jackson went to Garland High for four years however, there is no excuse for this not being identified early. In fact, I thought one of the requirements from Mack was seeing the kids transcript

Good thing we now recruit more than 1 good linebacker prospect every two years.

Which is why incompetence isn’t a problem in the private sector. Ever.

Wow, this sucks. We’ll be fine at this position, of course, but it shouldn’t have happened.
Sounds reminiscent of the Aaron Ross mess a few years back. Hopefully turns out as well. Definitely want to see this kid back.

It’s beyond ridiculous at this point. The single worst member of the entire Texas staff. Fire him

This is crap, I went to school with Tevin, he want all 4 years, went to all his classes and passed, but our school is pretty lax so thats why he might be having problems. I mean Adrian Phillips is playing, why not Tevin.
