Podcast #4: The One Where The Tortilla Retorters Share Scouting Reports and Homebrew Clap Remedies
We have a game this weekend.
We play Tommy Tuberville and his Red Raiders up there in Muleshoe this weekend.
RRR and Dedfischer, the geniuses behind Tortilla Retort, were kind enough to stop by the podcast and offer their thoughts on the game, where to get laid in Shallowater and the only 24 hour pharmacy in Lubbock.
Lastly, Levelland, TX is just down the road. Please support one of America's great treasures, James McMurtry.
If we can stop Bam Morris and Zebbie Lethridge from attending class, we have a chance.
Guns Up!
Hook 'Em Horns!
Enjoy the podcast.

Well worth your time to listen to the end as we submit dedfischer and RRR to a Tech fan behavior questionnaire.

I actually lived in Levelland for about six months. One of the best girls basketball programs in Texas, Coach Dean Weese won I believe six state titles. They also have good JUCO hoops.
The cinematography in the video is legit. If you love West Texas, it looks just fine.

Ah, you’re right. This is a predominately positive posting site, and reading it as it’s written really does sound like a dick move on my part. Good game to TTech too, and thanks for taking the time and sharing the insight.

levelland’s got nothing on nazareth for girl’s basketball.

Watch and see. I predict Foz will blow out McGee by year’s end in relevant stats.

Bizarre. I have no idea where McMurtry is getting electricity.

James McMurtry…the Texas Bob Dylan…calls his stuff Rock-and-Roots. An American and Texas treasure indeed. One of my favorites. He’s played Wichita Falls many times. I think his dad is Larry McMurtry, the guy who wrote Lonesome Dove and Last Picture Show. Owns part of if not most of Archer City Texas, which is the town LPS was written about. Juuust a bit eccentric. Larry takes most of his meals in the AC Dairy Queen…which is where I met him as I was passing through to see my son play a football game. If you know his more contemporary works you’d know he puts a lot of dialog and activity in and around Dairy Queens.

God damn that is a good song.
Still, as a native central texan, that’s about as close to West Texas as I need to get.

Nazareth has the the goods, no doubt. What, 10 or 11 state titles? And two great Lady Raider guards that I can think of. But Dean was already a legend when Lombard got started.

Enjoyed it, but I’m a little ADD (or maybe it is my 5th cup of coffee this morning) so it seemed a little long.

That whole Elephant analogy at the beginning can also be said for strippers…

HC Mike Leach = Dating a stripper?
Sounds right, in a way…

Dedfischer – well done. I appreciate your objective analysis and perspective of how both sides will fair this Saturday. Appreciate the time you and RRR took to do the show. I am a big fan of the new Barking Carnival Podcast. This is well worth the price!

My text message bill is going to atrocious this month with “ya know” jokes. I’m sending the bill to Sailor Ripley.

All kidding aside, both dedfischer and RRR did a hell of a job. We’re going to have them back on just to talk college football. Great guys.
Ya know?
by Scipio Tex on Sep 17, 2010 3:20 AM CDT reply actions
I’m sure they are great guys, but dedfischer has a voice for newspaper.

I got a call from my sister, who is in PR for a pro sports team. She was embarrassed and offered help. My wife claims it sounds just like me with all the ya knows.

When he mentioned the RC Slocum Kool Aid incident, I pretty much lost it.

McMurtry might not make it to Levelland – played beautiful downtown Marfa last night.
Y’all who live in/near Austown can catch him Wednesday nights at the Continental, when he ain’t on the road. Def worth seeing. Here’s a vid of him soloing Choctaw Bingo at Threadgill’s: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWEJPqJtZsk
