Bark At Sark

Regarding this whole Bush Heistman return thing, Reggie Bush looks like an idiot again, according to Steve Sarkisian.

"He had a chance to apologize, look like the good guy, but in giving it back and not apologizing, he just looks like an idiot again."

Steve went on running his mouth with the following:

"No matter how much money he got paid, that didn't affect how we prepared. We weren't the best team in football because of what he or his parents took."

Wow. Yes, let's all open our wallets and turn this into an arms race unfettered by NCAA rules and regulations. I like Texas' odds.

Apparently, somebody got to Sark, pointing out he sounded barking mad so he prepared another statement:

"Reggie Bush was the best player in college football and USC was the best team because of what happened on the field, not off. No one prepared better, practiced harder, and ultimately performed more consistently. It's unfortunate that this controversy has gone on this long, and it's time to move on and focus on some of the great things happening in college football right now."

Whoops. He still seems a bit confused. I think Steve may have been hot-tubbing with Matt Leinart of late. Too many beer bongs. These USC guys seem to lack a grasp of the binary nature of a national championship game outcome. The winner is the best team in football, ipso facto.

And I think we all know that Vince Young was the best player in college football that season using any metric.

Sheesh. Go home and get your shinebox.

It is a wise coach that cooks up a distraction for himself and his team on the eve of a big game.

It’s like The Game never happened with these USC guys. Uh guys, I hate to be the one to break this to ya but the NCAA isn’t going to require you to vacate that game. You lost. To a better team.

Wait a minute, Steve! I thought your initial argument had logical brilliance. You had the best team, even though it lost the big one. And, by extension, Vince was the best player, even though Bush absconded with his trophy. Then you had to go and elaborate. Please tell us more. Maybe for next week’s Huskies distraction-before-loss, you can talk about the Cardinals cutting their best quarterback.

You did conclusively prove that more than one person can be the idiot in any given situation.

Oh, and VY FOR FUCKING EVER!

Say what you will about Sarkisian, but he has UW on the way back, and once they are legitimately back, it’s largely going to be at the expense of USC. Washington has to be thrilled at this point that they didn’t hire Leach.

You gotta believe sooner or later Sark and Kiffy are going to get into it. That should make for good cinema.

Stay on fucking topic, Magnus.

My bad. VY FO EVA!!

I have a feeling that if Dunlevie had Uncle Rico’s time machine he’d reset the year from 1982 to 2005.

So where does Sarkisian fit in the golf prick hierarchy? He hasn’t won enough to challenge for the top spot, but that self-satisfied smirk is positively Gundy-esque. Or gas.

No matter what happens on the field today, Washington is a better team than Nebraska.

Just drop it. BFD.

Bottom line, VY proved ON THE FIELD who was the the best player that year ( and possibly ever). Had the honor of attending it, and VY’s brilliance was beyond reproach. Had SC fans telling me what a God he was that game. Politics be damned, any rational fan will admit VY was the best player that day and that year. Heisman would be nice, but we all know the score….41-38.

Revisionist history is the course du jour at USC. I wish that Vince had said that he respected Bush’s play during the season (cough, cough), but out of respect for the tradition of the Heisman and the 2005 National Champion Texas Longhorns, he would accept the award on behalf of his teammates, coaches, and The University of Texas.

Vince wuz robbed I tell ’ya, robbed, and we were, too.

Hook ‘em! You’re the man, Vince.
