Podcast #10: The Hog Call Where Blake Brockermeyer Calls For A Few Ass Whippings
It's always great fun having Blake on the podcast. Good stuff on depth chart changes, the Texas/OU game and even Shannon Sharpe.

Y’all started to talk about it a little, but is there any analysis of how our back up OL played? I know Hopkins got in, but I didn’t see it. Any break down? Thumbs up or down?

Thumbs up for a true freshmen. But he’s really young and was a little confused on at least one play when UCLA brought pressure.

Yep. His first play in UCLA throws a blitz at him. Coaching, imo. Greg Davis probably didn’t understand why they did it.

By the way, Blake was funny and insightful as always.
The big man has a sly sense of humor and his contempt for TEs and DL is awesome to behold.

interesting comments about focus being on one-on-one drills and strength vs. technique and mean streak..

I especially appreciated Blake’s wry chuckle when he remarked on the “One yard pass when you need 7 yards for a first down.”

I am with Blake on playing the newbies if they show an aggressive streak. let’s at least see if they are any better than the ones we’ve got.
The inability to block unbalanced blitzes is mystifying, given that we have seen so many of them in the last 8 games or so (since OU last year). I don’t think the kids are stupid, they are either inept or the coaches aren’t preparing them for what everyone knows is coming (because it has been sucessful). It must be hard but it seems like it should be simple.

Speaking of leadership…
Fifty-odd years ago, I watched Bobby Layne, late in his career, quarterbacking the pathetic Pittsburgh Steelers. On one pass attempt, he got flattened by the rush. When they huddled for the next play, Bobby stepped out of the huddle, walked around to the other side, and hauled off and kicked the living shit out of a tackle who had blown his block and let the lineman get to Layne, right in the ass, lifted him off the ground. Then he calmly walked back, called the next play… and no one got close to him the rest of the game.
I’ve been waiting to see Gilbert kick Hix in the ass… can’t believe it hasn’t happened – yet.

Thanks so much for providing individuals with an extremely marvellous opportunity to read from here. It really is very terrific and stuffed with a good time for me and my office colleagues to search your blog the equivalent of 3 times weekly to study the new guides you will have. And lastly, we are at all times contented considering the outstanding techniques served by you. Some 2 ideas in this posting are honestly the best we have all ever had.
