Podcast #16: The Hog Call Where We Ask Blake Brockermeyer To Suit Up Again
I think we'd all love to have him out there.
As always, thanks to Blake for stopping by and talking with us.
We cover many topics including Jay Cutler's obvious love of the game, the looming NFL lock out, why NFL agents are at times unneeded, potential Longhorn staff changes and most importantly why he thinks the Nebraska game is this season's crossroads.
Blake is here.

Love this stuff. You guys need to do a live show. Also, if we have questions for Blake can we email them?

A live show is only feasible if sizzlechest is in Morocco shopping for concubines and without Internet access, otherwise it’s a 30 minute cunt-a-thon.

Is it just me or do these ex-players seem to be quite a bit more objective than most blog/message board posters (me included)? I guess they lived it(been there done that) and aren’t quite as emotionally invested. I know a couple of ex-UT players where I live, and they sound a lot like Blake when talking about the Horns.
I always enjoy these…good show.

I have to agree with Blake on the potential for radical changes to the staff in the off-season, especially if things tank from here. If we drop two or three more games this year in the manner in which we’ve lost the last couple, I’m hopeful we’ll see a comprehensive overhaul on the offensive side of the ball in the off-season. There are a lot of people I respect who’ve watched the program for a long time (and many who post here) who think Mack will never cut Greg loose, but I’m of the opinion that if he embarrasses Mack and the University badly enough, he’ll either be gone or marginalized after the season.
Maybe that’s just wishful thinking, though. We’ll see.

This year has the potential to be unlike any other Mack Brown year. It’s probably a lot easier to stand by Greg Davis after going 10-3 than it is after we lose our shitty bowl game and finish 6-7, and our offense finishes 80th in the country in total offense.
Not saying that will happen, but it’s a possibility.

Thanks for the nice comments. Blake is awesome.
Nike – Absolutely. Drop us an e-mail. Or write your questions here. I’d encourage all of you to do the same. Blake will talk about anything and he’s candid.
TKO – I’m in the Greg is Mack’s boy camp. I don’t see Davis moving anywhere.
nordberg -
True. But we all have a way of excusing our blind spots. Axing assistants under Davis might fulfill Mack’s sense of “doing something.” Happened with Nunez.

Kennedy should be among the first to go. Too many of his stable of blue chip WRs are busts on or off the field and many show little improvement while on campus. Don’t throw the “Cosby and Shipley were great” card. Cosby was a mature professional athlete when he joined the football team and Shipley was better coached and prepared as freshman on arrival than many of Kennedy’s charges are when they are juniors or seniors.
McWhorter is the most llkely “retiree” and I hope his replacement is a firebrand young coach with a Muschamp or Tomey attitude.
