Children of the Korn vs. K-State

I find the point spread (Huskers -10.5) to be a bit high, but then what the hell do I know?

Holy fuck they are going to ride D Thomas in to the ground. He’s going tohave 50 rushes before the end of the half

Going for it on 4th was odd — unless their kicker is just awful.

Nebraska is going through the K-State defense like shit through a goose.

Beautiful drive…7-0 ’Skers

wow teams that can run the ball and block.

by vegashorn on Oct 7, 2010 7:09 PM CDT reply actions

I like Daniel Thomas, but he ain’t gonna win this game by himself.

Trying to attack the edges against UNL seems much less successful than going right at them. Of course, which of those options are we more likely to pursue? Yeah, we could be fucked against these guys.

by spit and tears on Oct 7, 2010 7:35 PM CDT reply actions

K-State is hanging on, but they are being punished on every offensive play. That Nebraska defense loves to hunt down people.

by srr50 on Oct 7, 2010 7:36 PM CDT reply actions

Nebraska defense = Ohio Hardass (i.e., the Pelinis). I can’t wait to see Herbie Husker come to Columbus next year. It will be a war.

defensive penalties keeping drives alive — it drives me nuts even when I don’t really care who wins.

by Newy25 on Oct 7, 2010 7:53 PM CDT reply actions

Martinez is the perfect college football quarterback.

Why would anyone recruit someone as limited as GG when they could have a Martinez?

by Bill Bixbly on Oct 7, 2010 7:54 PM CDT reply actions

KSU looks lousy on defense…. we’ll probably make them look like the 85 Bears or 79 Steelers or something.

by spit and tears on Oct 7, 2010 7:56 PM CDT reply actions

I don’t think Garrett Gilbert is any more “limited” than, say, Greg McElroy. All depends on the system he’s in, the playcalling, and the surrounding cast. GG is in a system that is in a shambles, trying to implement playcalls doomed to fail, and his surrounding cast is a little uneven.

by spit and tears on Oct 7, 2010 7:58 PM CDT reply actions

“KSU looks lousy on defense…. we’ll probably make them look like the 85 Bears or 79 Steelers or something.”

Let’s just say their defensive statistical averages will improve.

by ACE on Oct 7, 2010 8:03 PM CDT reply actions

Martinez looks great—very explosive. They have a number of good skill position players around him too.

Agree 100% with vegashorn—amazing to watch a couple of teams that can actually block running plays. Not just the OL either, but backs, TE, WR’s.

Tough match-up for us up there next week.

by hopefulhorn on Oct 7, 2010 8:03 PM CDT reply actions

GG is no GMc. GG is on the same talent level as the rest of the Longhorn O. Not so good.

by Bill Bixbly on Oct 7, 2010 8:05 PM CDT reply actions

I hope we get the shit kicked out of us. If we lose a close one an Mack thinks this team is still “a block away” and just needs to execute better, I’ll fucking kill someone.

I don’t understand? Thought having a new QB was reason enough to be ranked in hundreds on offense? How can these guys do it?

Good question. Guess it must be easier with a dual-threat QB, huh? Then again, it took two and a half years for GD to figure out how to use the best dual-threat QB in the history of the game. Maybe it’s coaching?

by Blueshorn on Oct 7, 2010 8:28 PM CDT reply actions

80 yard run for TD #3. Kid is quick and fast.

Spread seems to be a bit high, but what the hell do I know?

by srr50 on Oct 7, 2010 8:31 PM CDT reply actions

Yep, this is setting up perfectly. The Shirts of Color will be overconfident and their fans so amped up that when Mack Mackovics them the Cornwankers will be the biggest bitter to ever be bitter. Turnovers will lead to the upset, history repeats itself, some things are just destined.

by F U Bo on Oct 7, 2010 8:35 PM CDT reply actions

Is there anyone that wouldn’t take 8-4 right now in a heartbeat?

by Savage Henry on Oct 7, 2010 8:36 PM CDT reply actions

If it hasn’t come to that yet, it will soon enough. I see us losing to both of these seasons. If I’m going to feel the pain, I want the coaches to feel it too. We know unless it’s gruesome Mack will find a way to spin it.

by Ny horn on Oct 7, 2010 8:36 PM CDT reply actions

Eh, teams not seasons. I blame it on Mr. Walker.

by Ny horn on Oct 7, 2010 8:38 PM CDT reply actions

I’ve never known how to feel about wanting to lose games. On the one hand, you never want to lose a game. On the other hand, what if 8-4 begets a string of 8-4 kind of seasons? Disappointing, yes, but never disastrous enough to warrant the kind of soul searching and change that a terrible season would mandate.

by CS on Oct 7, 2010 8:39 PM CDT reply actions

I’ll still root for wins but if we’re going to lose it might as well be ugly.

by Savage Henry on Oct 7, 2010 8:41 PM CDT reply actions

Boy, KSU’s offense is horrible. As long as they don’t scare Muschamp by doing something unexpected and never-before-seen like run a no-huddle offense, we should be able to keep the defeat down to something like 10-3.

by ransomstoddard on Oct 7, 2010 8:41 PM CDT reply actions

srr50, you know a lot of old-but-goodie stuff and how to write it up nicely. That counts for a hell of a lot more.

The cornvicts are back. They are beating the crap out of a pretty decent KSU football team. Bad timing for us Longhorns to be in a serious talent swoon.

by Bill Bixbly on Oct 7, 2010 8:48 PM CDT reply actions

by Savage Henry on Oct 7, 2010 9:02 PM CDT reply actions

Amazing how vulnerable a secondary is to a QB who can run. 79 yard TD pass.

by Blueshorn on Oct 7, 2010 9:04 PM CDT reply actions

We are going to get prison raped next week.

I see the half time score being about 14-3, with a couple of busted assignments leading to big plays for them, and some turnover at the NU 25 leading to a 40 yard field goal for us. Then in the second half after a couple of 3 and outs by us, the D is going to get tired from chasing Martinez around, the dam is going to burst and it will end up 42-3 or so.

Davis will blame execution, posters on hornfans will blame the D for giving up 42, lather, rinse, repeat.

by stuckinmn on Oct 7, 2010 9:04 PM CDT reply actions

My crew is making our regular quad-annual road trip to Lincoln for the game next week. I’m hoping we’re not the ones who get the corn cob.

They’re usually very cool fans – even after we win. If we win this year, I think it will get ugly…. good thing I don’t have to worry about that.

Gotta love ESPN blowing their load over Martinez. I really hope we come out and punch them in the mouth next weekend. Unfortunately, I suspect we will roll out the Sideways & Backwards offense and Pussy McWhorter will live up to his name.

You know what, fuck anybody who wants to see the Longhorns get crushed. You may as well be an Aggie. Complaining about the coaches or individual players is fine, but once you start hoping your team loses, you’ve completely lost touch with the pleasures of the sport.

The stars may have aligned for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the unexpected whipping boy of the Texas Longhorns, to go out big. I don’t want to see them do it, but damn they look tough. If they earn it, so be it.

Even so, I’d like to see the defense become the take away monster we’ve anticipated and the offense to play competently enough to take advantage of opportunities while offering few opportunities to the Huskers. We better show up like champions and fight like trapped animals or it will be a fiasco of a day that any true fan will hate.

If I had even the faintest hope that we would have an offense Saturday after next, I might entertain equally faint hopes that Texas could pull an upset. As it is, I’m just about certain that they are going to KILL US.

by LurkerintheDark on Oct 8, 2010 12:56 AM CDT reply actions

All for being a fan and hoping the Horns win but anyone who thinks this game will be competitive is kidding themselves. We just rolled out A dogshit offensive game plan to our BIGGEST RIVAL! There is absolutely no existing evidence that points anything but a federal pound me in the ass style beat down. To think anything different is not logical. Our d will play well while our offense fails again. UCLA all over again and this ones not even at home. Thank you Mack and Greg for the 3-3 record. You are getting paid 5.1 million for this.

by Mysterious Package on Oct 8, 2010 5:29 AM CDT reply actions

Pelini ain’t a vicious mo-fo…naw. That FG to make it 48? Just testing the kicker’s leg, no message to Bill Snyder there, nope.

We better come to Lincoln with the chinstraps buckled down tight because I guarantee you Pelini will have the Cornholers put 70 on us if they can. He hates Texas’ guts.

I’m not predicting we’ll beat UNub, but I damn sure hope we put in a great effort and maintain our pride and dignity.

by Gman on Oct 8, 2010 7:50 AM CDT reply actions

Nah. We’ll open with a misdirection sweep that sends Monroe to the house. 7-0 Texas.

Next drive, we fake the sweep and Fozzy takes it inside for 11 yards. Another fake, and M Williams takes it over the middle and beats one man for a touchdown.

The Oregon cheerleaders celebrate. 14-0 good guys.

After that, who knows?

by NBMisha on Oct 8, 2010 9:06 AM CDT reply actions

I like your thinking MB, but I’m really worried about us getting cornholed up there. Before the season I was confident we’d win, because Corn’s offense looked impotent with Lee at QB. But Pelini wised up in a hurry and put Martinez in, and we’re the ones whose offense is Cialis-ready.

I refuse to ever wish a loss on our team — that’s just wrong. But I’m very worried about our chances. I think Boom will have a good gameplan, but I know GD will not. And I’m very skeptical of our team improving its collective IQ in 2 weeks’ time and cutting out all the stupid penalties. God, I hope I’m wrong.

by burnt orange outrage on Oct 8, 2010 9:15 AM CDT reply actions

by holdem on Oct 8, 2010 9:35 AM CDT reply actions

Martinez runs for 275 and scores 4 td’s against us but we win the shootout 56 – 52!

No wait….our offense scored 56 over the last three games against average defenses.

Scratch that……at least our 56.

Yeah, but it looks to me like they’d react the way my buddy Donny did awhile back when someone offered to punch him in the mouth… he set his beer down, stood up, took off his glasses and handed ‘em to me, pulled out his front teeth and gave ’em to Catfish, took off his shirt and draped it on his stool, cracked his knuckles, lit up with biggest fucking toothless smile I ever saw, and told the guy "Let’s us go on outside so’s we don’t break no furniture, whatta ya say?" He dragged the poor bastard out by the hair, but at least he only hit him a couple of times, and not in the face. I’m pretty sure we got us a few on our team like ol’ Donny (thinkin’ Mason Walters, for one) but I’m afeared most of ’em have had the mean coached out of ’em.

We’ll see. It could happen, but I for one ain’t puttin’ any money on it.
