I attended the last 2 games in Lincoln with ojnab- both soul crushing losses for him, but he took both like a man. And now comes the first season in a decade where it is pretty much a given that Big Red is going to absolutely demolish us and the dumbass can’t go. How’s that for being born under an unlucky star?
good points by all in the podcast- I have trouble seeing us getting to 31 points though I admire the optimism. I’m sticking by my prediction of another UCLA type game. Defense keeps it close through the half but the Davisian 3 and outs are just too much and we wear down in the second half for a 20+ point loss.

You guys do sound too much alike.
Scip, I remember that Bama/Georgia game. One thing that happened is Bama came out and got extremely physical with Georgia, esp on the offensive side of the ball. And then it went from a black out to a funeral in about 10 minutes. I don’t see us smacking them in the mouth with our offense.

I’m not sure there is any way that UT scores 31.
Good discussion though.

“I’m not sure there is any way that UT scores 31.”
Our offense only has to score 17.

God Bless it I hate gin. I’m secretly optimistic as well but that always happens as we get closer to the game.

I dunno
it may not take 31 points to win. Nebraska has a one dimensional offense.
Go look at some Jackrabbit film.

The hope and pray that Nebraska forgets to bring it’s motivation just like it did against South Dakota St. I wonder how likely that is?

I mean think about it
who has the stiffest defense the huskers have faced this season"
South Dakota State
that’s right
and the huskers needed a couple shaky calls from the refs on D to win that game.
I don’t know if any of the refs in that game were ex husker players but I have seen that sort of thing happen more than a few times.
If Greg Davis can get anything going…..anything at all………… yall have a good chance
if not?
he can always find work with Dan Hawkins

Western KY…..oh yeah
Idaho……Boo ya
South Dakota State…..you got ta be kidding
Washington……….wait a minute they beat USC
. So what?
Hawaii came close to USC too and guess who thumped them
thats right
Dan Hawkins.
KState
dont know how fast Martinez is but it has to be at least a half second (in the 40) faster than anyone on the Mildcat’s D.
Why all the fear mongering?
Nebraska is waaay overrated by puny journalistas who are scared to death they may have to face Felini’s intimidating nose or his machine like mandibles.
go shuck some corn

I agree on NU’s SOS…of course you’d expect them to dominate that schedule and they have with the exception of 1 game. We’ll all know more after Saturday.

Would you assholes stop arguing this nonsense?
That’s what makes The carnival great. Not this bullshit.

I don’t think it will be a good day for the Longhorns. I plan to work on feeders and blinds that weekend at a remote location with no TV reception.

Did Urban Meyer fire his OC yet?
‘Cause that’s what you do after dropping two straight, right?

Good moment at the end when Drew tries to get the Huskers to trash talk. They’re too polite to throw down, and a little nervous that he could be right.
by parlin on Oct 12, 2010 8:28 AM CDT reply actions
parlin, how dare you accuse us of being polite. There is admittedly a fair amount of nervousness — to me, the two most likely scenarios are (1) a Husker blowout or (2) a tight Texas win. I may just be jaded by prior experiences with Texas, but I don’t see the Huskers pulling out a tight one.

Great listen overall. The BC podcasts I’ve heard involving guests from our opponents’ side -Tech, UCLA, OU, NU – have all been well worth the time.
We all assume that the Huskers are channeling a history of Big XII under-performance into a massive battle cry. But I hear the real regret of not holding up their end of the bargain as indomitable conference foes during their Big XII stay in totality. I get that. I appreciate the knowledge and candor that all the guests bring.

parlin – I never try to incite trash talk. It’s makes the football bad.

Our offense only has to score 17.
Remember, GD GD is still the OC.
17 points is asking too much out of him.
And the last 2 games has shown that our D isn’t that great, stats be damned. Plus, the NU QB is scary good. He may be 1-dimensional, but so was UCLA.

Podocalypse?? or whatever you said.
No. It’s an apodcalypse.
What I got from this mainly is that we will be reminiscing about 2004-2009 for a long time while our misbegotten offenses eat shit for years to come.
I have three modes for beholding Texas football:
Overconfidence—when the Horns usually fail to live up to my internal hype. (Tech ‘08; any K-State loss; UCLA)
Balance—Expect nothing; enjoy the ride. Good often happens. (USC, OU ’08, Bama until McCoy went down)
Doom & Gloom—Sometimes I’m surprised, but I can’t think of any time right now.
Doom & Gloom on this one.
Where it’s psychologically complicated is that I really hope the Horns will surprise me; but that edges towards confidence which leads inexorably back to Doom & Gloom. Balance I do not have for this game. At all.

Depends on the preceding 10 years.

Seriously, read through some of that Steve Addazio site. The narrative – and even many of the details – will sound awfully familiar.
