Podcast #19: The Hog Call Where Blake Brockermeyer Lionizes Jim McNally
Always great times with Blake who was kind enough to stop by and answer some of your questions, though like most of us he's not sure how magnets work. Fucking witchcrafty magic, imo.
Blake is here.
Jim McNally is here.
Lincoln is here. Let's go get a win.

You rubes. Magnetism is simply a consequence of special relativity. Because of the Lorentz contraction, an electrical force within one frame of reference also occurs in other frames of reference for which there is no charge differential to account for the force. In these other frames of reference, the force is interpreted as a different force, the magnetic force, which is caused not by charge alone, but by moving charges (i.e. currents).
I’m frankly a little surprised that Blake didn’t explain that for you guys.

The over / under on replies before you zoomed up in your dorkmobile and start waving your pocket protector and protractor around was three. I took the under.

Brick – you’re smarter than me, but something tells me that you could be cock-blocked by Stephen Hawking. Magnets = fucking witchcraft!!!!

Enjoyed Jana’s shout out from the set of Evil Dead 2. Don’t know how she keeps a straight face.

Watch yourself, poet. I’m deadly accurate with that protractor.

Jana,
I’ve heard that many aging female broadcasters benefit from very soft lighting/lenses along with fewer closeups. Has your producer discussed this with you?

Not a lot of our questions were posed to him, guys. I still don’t know if our O-Line is white enough.

She’s a friend of BC. Behave yourself.

Scip – your thoughts on Brett Favre not being an “over-thinker” reminded me of a quote from former Cowboy and Stanford great Blaine Nye about the mentally and emotionally challenged QB Clint Longley. After Staubach had been KO’d in the 1974 Thanksgiving Day game, Longley led a comeback that culminated in a game winning 50 yard bomb to Drew Pearson. After the game a reporter asked Nye for his assessment of Longley’s play. Nye’s response: “It was a triumph of the uncluttered mind”.
Every time Favre pulls something out of his ass I think of Blaine Nye..

It’s not a consequence of SR, but no field theory makes sense without it. The origin of magnetism, in most cases, is the angular momentum of electrons.
Don’t forget that neutrons have a magnetic moment!

A physics discussion on BC? Just add Kim Kardashian, nude and aroused by the technical details of defending the Veer option and the nature of the electromagnetic force, and this would be Heaven.
It’s not a consequence of SR
I guess it depends on what you mean by “consequence.” In SR, the electrostatic and magnetic forces are united as one Lorentz-invariant electromagnetic force, right?

Brickhorn — right.
I don’t even drink, so I can’t blame alcohol.

You ought to actually take into consideration engaged on developing this weblog into a major authority in this market. You evidently have a grasp deal with of the matters everyone is trying to find on this website in any case and you may certainly even earn a buck or two off of some advertisements. I’d explore following recent topics and raising the amount of write ups you place up and I guarantee you’d begin seeing some amazing focused visitors within the near future. Only a thought.
