Oregon, Auburn and TCU are the Top 3 in the AP poll with the Horned Frogs trailing Auburn by only 5 points. Texas' opponent this week, Oklahoma State, is ranked 12th.

Among Others Receiving Votes: San Diego State, Baylor, Kansas State, Northern Illinois, Temple, Navy, Syracuse and Delaware.

Texas was not mentioned among the list.

Also, where’s Scipio’s Post-Mortem for the KSU game? I always look forward to those…

Doesn’t sound like you are deriving pleasure from the Aggies’ “misfortune.”

Sherman seems to have turned the corner there, and you have to give him grudging credit.

Aggie rise is simultaneous with the shocking downturn at UT. It’s not a zero sum game, but it might APPEAR that way.

SO, you’re telling me that losing to KState knocked us out of the BCS rankings?

TTR and I have discussed this several times – it’s not A&M and y’all that is a zero sum game – at least historically, it IS a zero sum game between y’all, A&M and OU.

Since 1998, the cumulative win-loss totals for A&M, Texas and OU in conference games only.

1998: 16-8
1999: 16-8
2000: 20-4
2001: 17-7
2002: 15-9
2003: 17-7
2004: 20-4
2005: 17-7
2006: 18-6
2007: 15-9
2008: 16-8
2009: 16-8

I thought for sure we’d still be in the Top 25! SOB SOB

It’s more of a Zero Sum Game for A&M

The last 40 years Texas A&M finished in the Top Ten six times in the AP Poll

1976 7th 10-2
1985 6th 10-2
1986 10th 10-2
1992 7th 12-1
1993 9th 10-2
1994 8th 10-0-1

Texas in those years
1976 NR 5-5-1
1985 NR 5-6
1987 NR 7-5
1992 NR 6-5
1993 NR 5-5-1
1994 25th 8-4

Not sure I would get carried away and say Sherman has turned the corner. ou is horrible on the road and shot themselves in the foot repeatedly. aggy still has huge problems. Of course, beating Little Will and Greggie requires virtually no effort any more so we are not a measuring stick of anything.

Billy – unfortunately the corpse is unidentfiable.

When’s the last AP poll where aggy was ranked and we weren’t? 1997?

by burnt orange outrage on Nov 8, 2010 12:00 PM CST reply actions

So if Texas can get its act together and beat them on T-giving, we could knock them out of the rankings? Hooray!!!

the last AP poll where aggy was ranked and we weren’t? 1997?[/i]

1999 week 3; A&M was #7. Texas was ranked #21 the next week and started the streak that ended last month.

by wherzwaldo on Nov 8, 2010 3:03 PM CST reply actions

My bad – Texas dropped out of the top 25 for one week in 2000 but A&M was also unranked that week.

by wherzwaldo on Nov 8, 2010 3:07 PM CST reply actions

What did A&M turn the corner toward? That was a terrible OU performance. OU fans, ridiculous ones, want coaches fired after such a display.

Expect 2 A&M losses in the last 3 if they play like they did last Saturday.
