BEHorn called Lucas, the Human Jai-Gnome.
That needed to be re-stated.

By the way, I would like to point out that I put the picture up on the main page for this post all by meself. For an encore, I am going to shit in my hands and smear it on the walls.

This does not count as one of the posts you are contractually obligated to write each month, you slacker.

Bobby Knight also thinks Bobby Knight is funny.

SWEET! I get to listen to Bobby Knight tonight instead of mad game from the fellas on those poor waitresses (and one “I’m really 18 years old even if I am in high school it would still be legal because I am 18 years old” hostess).
I learned so much about how to deal with women who have limited self esteem.
Alas, I am but an empty cup, so willing to learn, e’en though my years of game are limited to my dear sweet Mrs. uthookem (no self esteem problems there, however).
Basketball! Yippee!
by uthookem on Nov 19, 2010 5:46 PM CST reply actions
Bobby Knight thinking that he is funny is what actually makes him funny.

I’m thinking we get crushed tonight and it will be good for the team. If J’covan continues to play/act like he has the first few games I will have seen enough of him for the year. It’s really sickening to watch him waste so much talent.
Don’t we have a football game tomorrow? It’s sad, I just don’t care.

Got some high octane motors out there tonight. TT is burning nitro.
by Mad Clapper on Nov 19, 2010 6:24 PM CST reply actions
Hamilton looks twice as strong (physically) than last season.
Is Jerome Lane gonna “send it in” tonight?

please NBA have a lockout next year. This team could be insanely good.

Big East basketball sucks. Pitt’s thug ball never works in the tourney.

we have got to stop these huge periods of time without a basket

J’Covan is everything I hate in an athlete.
Sit him the fuck down and leave him there as far as I’m concerned.
by Orangeblood79 on Nov 19, 2010 7:15 PM CST reply actions
J’Covan is a whiner, but he did just get fouled on successive trips with no calls.
by Juice on Nov 19, 2010 7:16 PM CST reply actions
J’Gnome would be a good player. Separately they need to ride the pine.
by Art Vandelay on Nov 19, 2010 7:20 PM CST reply actions
We’re fearless under the defensive basket. I love that.
by beowulf on Nov 19, 2010 7:24 PM CST reply actions
Some horseshit officiating. I lost count of the number of hip checks Pitt’s gotten away with. And WTF on the shove that Pitt goon gave Brown? I like the way we are competing and battling. Hill’s given us some good minutes. We seem to be dragging a bit but I think we come out with some pep in our step after halftime.
by Reno Hightower on Nov 19, 2010 7:33 PM CST reply actions
I only recall one Pitt set of Karch Kiray on the boards, so that is good.
I agree that it seems we are up against the stops with the officials, but I’m sure that will even out in the second half through my burnt orange glasses.
Overall, very happy with the first half. If we can get some j’threes to fall we’ll be in business.
by uthookem on Nov 19, 2010 7:38 PM CST reply actions
Really? That was a blocking foul by Hill? Horseshit call…I didn’t see him shuffling his feet.
by uthookem on Nov 19, 2010 7:52 PM CST reply actions
Are you fucking kidding me? The Pitt goon shoves our J’player into the 8th row and no foul, and that was an intentional foul???
by Art Vandelay on Nov 19, 2010 8:00 PM CST reply actions
The officiating won’t mean a damn thing if they don’t throw a blanket over Gibbs and block out on the defensive boards.

63-59. J Ham is gonna play 10 years in the NBA. If we get a few calls and some triples we can win this.
by Art Vandelay on Nov 19, 2010 8:32 PM CST reply actions
J Ham is gonna play 12 years in the NBA. Diaper Dandy baby!!!! 63-62.
by Art Vandelay on Nov 19, 2010 8:34 PM CST reply actions
63-62. Old-fashioned 3-point play from Hamilton. Pitt ball with just over 2 mins to play
by Max Fischer on Nov 19, 2010 8:34 PM CST reply actions
Hamilton took 3’s each of the past 2 posessions. Each looked good off his hand but neither hit.
Great play from Thompson, pokes a steal out and released for a wide open layup.
66-64. Pitt ball :29 left

that was fucking gorgeous. win or lose i love this team.

That was a horrible ending but after last night and tonight I like that Joseph has balls. He’ll learn from that.
Hamilton should have gone to get the ball, too.
by justhookit on Nov 19, 2010 8:48 PM CST reply actions
Well glad he learned that early in the year. Get the ball to JH late in the game, he can score from anywhere. Great game, great effort. Pitt just a little too big and physical but I am very impressed. We are way better than I thought we’d be. Only negative I see is that JH finally tapping into his ridiculous ability means he is probably a lottery pick.
by Bartoncreek on Nov 19, 2010 8:48 PM CST reply actions
Teaching moment, ladies and gentleman. We’ll be a much better team by the end of the season.
by uthookem on Nov 19, 2010 8:49 PM CST reply actions
What’s up with the blue safety stripes across the butts of Boise State’s uniforms? Do they beep when they back up?
by Ugly on Nov 19, 2010 8:51 PM CST reply actions
We played a great game, and that was an awful, awful, spaztastic play by Joseph.
He sure as hell better learn from that. That pissed me off.
I 7% admire his ‘nads trying to take it himself, and I 93% resent him for not getting the ball to someone who didn’t need to take an out of control, two-hand hook shot.
by Homesick Alien on Nov 19, 2010 8:55 PM CST reply actions
I know it’s waaaay too early to say this but…please please let TT, JH and CJ come back next season to play with Myck. This year is going to be a lot of fun but next year would be incredible with those 4.
by Diego on Nov 19, 2010 8:56 PM CST reply actions
Pretty sure Joseph just flat-out panicked
by ransomstoddard on Nov 19, 2010 8:59 PM CST reply actions
Corey will be back but not Tristan or Jordan.
The ball needed to go to Hamilton. That was the worst last shot I have ever seen at the collegiate level. I’m not even sure it was a shot, it might have been a pass.
by Kafka on Nov 19, 2010 9:02 PM CST reply actions
I love what I’ve seen from thus team so far. CJ also tried to play Hero ball last night which forced the game into OT. That’s one trend I’m sure the coaches will work to correct.
by Varsity on Nov 19, 2010 9:03 PM CST reply actions
Love Dogus right in CoJo’s ear post last possession. Kid reminds me of a young Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
by Sailor Ripley on Nov 19, 2010 9:29 PM CST reply actions
Part of it was the Pitt defense, but they pretty much panicked when they had actual chances to take the lead in the final minutes. Consecutive tries for three (including one after Pitt scored to increase the lead), and Joseph’s off-balance fling.
But I haven’t felt this good about a team since ’07-08 n-c schedule (pounded Tennessee and won at UCLA).
by Bob in Houston on Nov 19, 2010 10:01 PM CST reply actions
Certainly Joseph thought he was being fouled?
by nordberg on Nov 19, 2010 10:01 PM CST reply actions
I suppose. I didn’t get to see the whole game, but I did see the last 15 minutes, and it was pretty hard to get to the line on contact. He sure wasn’t going to get there from the arc on a reach-in.
I wanted them to shoot for the win, though. Go in and back out.
by Bob in Houston on Nov 19, 2010 10:18 PM CST reply actions
Based on past experiences, I’m pretty sure Barnes told Joseph that if Pitt missed the front end of the 1 and 1 to push the ball up court and try to to either drive or dish. Kid thought he had a lane, but Pitt had it defensed with a double team and he panicked.
It is hard for freshmen to understand that in basketball terms 11 seconds is an eternity.
by srr50 on Nov 19, 2010 10:24 PM CST reply actions
Corey will be back but not Tristan or Jordan. shaunsters on OB says that TT, Corey and Myck are close and that all three should be here next season. TT will have some serious money to turn down though to come back. Kid is really, really good.

This is my first season watching basketball. Bad football is a good motivator. Football players generally seem to enter the draft after their junior or senior years… do basketball players tend to leave earlier?
by Canuck Horn on Nov 19, 2010 11:18 PM CST reply actions
Canuck: Basketball players can go right out of HS-but if you aren’t going to be a 1st round pick it isn’t wise. 1st rounders get guaranteed contracts, a few 2nd rounders get that security, but it is unusual.
There is no limit for college basketball players — they can declare for the draft after any season.
I should add that the upcoming NBA draft will be interesting to watch. It is scheduled for June 23, 2011 — just one week before the NBA collective bargaining agreement runs out — and there is a pretty good likelyhood of a lockout.

If shaunsters said it, you can bank on the exact opposite happening. You’re better off getting your recruiting info from a squirrel.
by kevwun on Nov 20, 2010 7:21 AM CST reply actions
Um, no, they can’t. KD played at UT a year right?
Yeah, Red, you’re right, they can’t go straight to the NBA, but they don’t have to go to college — they can go play over in Euorpe.
by srr50 on Nov 20, 2010 8:42 AM CST reply actions
Is that a new thing? Didn’t LeBron James go right into the NBA?
by Canuck Horn on Nov 20, 2010 10:08 AM CST reply actions
Yeah, a few years back they revised it to have a player be one year removed from high school before entering the draft.
