Let's Play Jeopardy! Answer: 8 Games
Question: How many games will #20 Texas play against teams currently ranked in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Top Ten?
The Longhorns will have no problem with RPI when March comes along, as Texas has games against the #3, #4, #5, #6, #8, #9, and #10 teams currently in the collegiate basketball rankings. Texas has already played -- and lost to -- Pittsburgh 68-66 in Madison Square Garden earlier in November.

Jordan Hamilton & the Horns have 7 games remaining against teams currently in the Top Ten, with 4 of them tipping off in the Erwin Center.
Texas travels to East Lansing to face #6 Michigan State on December 22nd. #9 Connecticut visits Austin on January 8th, 2011. Other games scheduled against Big 12 teams also ranked in the Top Ten:
at #4 Kansas January 22nd
#5 Kansas Sate in Austin February 28th
#8 Missouri in Austin January 29th
#10 Baylor visits Austin on February 12th, with the Horns closing out the regular season in Waco on March 5th.
The Longhorns already have a win over #21 Illinois, who plays North Carolina tonight. The Tar Heels are currently unranked, but could be back in the Top 25 by the time Texas plays them in Greensboro on December 18th.

My hopes will be tempered, and my bravado to my non-UT friends will be holstered for now, but I’ve got a good feeling about this team.
If they can continue to grow and play as a team, and Coach Barnes can find some way to have a little fun on the journey, then I would not be shocked if they made it to FF.
They need a reliable outside game to go with TT developing inside game and Hamilton’s everywhere game.
Surprises so far:
- the freshmen, better than expected
- Jai Lucas may actually contribute to this team.
- Dogus looks like he might be 100% did not expect that.
- team chemistry. Bill Nye gives this team a thumb’s up!
It’s refreshing to feel optimistic after the fubar of football.

Wow. Safe to say these guys will be tournament ready provided they don’t repeat the 2009-10 meltdown.
I don’t see us winning at Phog or East Lansing. I think we can sneak up on one or both of UConn and Mizzou. If Texxas fielded a team in Tiddly-Winks K-State would kick our ass in that too.

I hate what the 10 team conference does to football, but I love what it does for basketball. Getting to play KU/KSt/MU twice a year AND getting one of those games at home is awesome. As long as we don’t see a drop off in OOC scheduling (don’t think we will), it will make for even more entertaining basketball.

Don’t get too excited.
Cade Davis is my best player. For reals.
We will drag your RPI to the depths this year.

Just seeing an honest to goodness offense out of the team has made this season superior to any other aside from 2003. I never thought I’d see the day that a Barnes-coached team would actually have purposeful motion to their offense.
