Open Games Thread: Civil War and SEC Championship

Ducks. Beaver. Ball Coach. Fib Newton.

Hopefully at least one of these will be a good game.

Quick question, why won't Auburn let Cam talk?

If he’s such a fine kid and a true leader, sure.

by Sailor Ripley on Dec 4, 2010 2:25 PM CST reply actions

Blow me up today!

by The BCS on Dec 4, 2010 2:35 PM CST reply actions

I like both uni’s.

by Savage Henry on Dec 4, 2010 2:38 PM CST reply actions

Game over? That’s why we didn’t recruit Quizz!

by Savage Henry on Dec 4, 2010 2:39 PM CST reply actions

Now we know why we didn’t recruit Jacquizz… He can’t pass block!

by CZW on Dec 4, 2010 2:41 PM CST reply actions

Because they’re scared shitless he’ll slip up and casually mention how he knew full well he was being shopped around.

by nordberg on Dec 4, 2010 2:41 PM CST reply actions

Nordberg – you literalist.

by Sailor Ripley on Dec 4, 2010 2:43 PM CST reply actions

Great strip from OSU. I wish this game wasn’t on the same time as the SEC Championship.

by maninblack on Dec 4, 2010 2:44 PM CST reply actions

I’m here to answer the tough questions sailor.

by nordberg on Dec 4, 2010 2:45 PM CST reply actions

Sheesh. Pretty sure the Beavers are not good.

by Sailor Ripley on Dec 4, 2010 2:45 PM CST reply actions

Sloppy…

by Savage Henry on Dec 4, 2010 2:52 PM CST reply actions

The Matthews family is amazing.

by Savage Henry on Dec 4, 2010 2:59 PM CST reply actions

Katz makes some astonishingly bad reads.

by Sailor Ripley on Dec 4, 2010 3:05 PM CST reply actions

Great call to Quizz.

Love for this to be a game but i don’t think OSU has the horses to run with UO for four quarters.

by Sailor Ripley on Dec 4, 2010 3:05 PM CST reply actions

UO : OSU : : Shahi : Ripley

by parlin on Dec 4, 2010 3:24 PM CST reply actions

Did a fourth grader make the “Diamond Moment” highlight?

by CZW on Dec 4, 2010 3:28 PM CST reply actions

Sakerlina, on the other hand, looking good on that last drive.

by Dagga Roosta on Dec 4, 2010 3:31 PM CST reply actions

Hmmmm.

by Sailor Ripley on Dec 4, 2010 3:32 PM CST reply actions

These last two 3rd down conversions, 3rd and 12, 3rd and 10, Cam looks exactly like Vince circa 2005. On the first one, he dropped back to pass, waited 5 seconds to look for a receiver, then takes off for 20 yards, eluding at least 6 would-be tacklers in the process. On the second, he breaks two tackles in the backfield before completing a 13 yard pass to the running back.

This guy looks just as unstoppable as Vince did.

by tim on Dec 4, 2010 3:39 PM CST reply actions

He plays the most like vince than anyone else ive ever seen.

by rl231 on Dec 4, 2010 3:58 PM CST reply actions

SEC East = B12 North = suckage. Yawn. Hope the B12 Championship game features an asteroid strike to give us a three-fer: blow up ou, Nubb, and Jerry World. Epic.

by Voice of Reason on Dec 4, 2010 3:59 PM CST reply actions

That pump-fake TD pass that Cam threw to make it 21-7?

Unsound football, imo.

by gazmorida on Dec 4, 2010 4:04 PM CST reply actions

Thanks for reminding me of Shahi, p.

Watching the Natty Championship game is gonna be like watching two coked and roided up POS murdering boxers go at eachother. I hope they beat the living shit out of eachother for 12 rounds/60 minutes, provide one hell of an entertaining night of sport, and promptly get disciplined harshly.

If Tebow is draftable at #25 or so, where does Cam go? Gotta think he’s the third QB off the board somewhere around #15-20.

by magnusbleuveigner on Dec 4, 2010 4:22 PM CST reply actions

Cam Newton superior passer than VY, Vick, Tebow….Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees.

So says commentator.

by TexasTomek on Dec 4, 2010 4:40 PM CST reply actions

Watching Oregon’s offense makes me sad. So hoping that we get an OC that will run a colleg-style up tempo offense. Superior athletes in that type of scheme is deadly.

by Mr. Orange on Dec 4, 2010 4:45 PM CST reply actions

CBS’s commentators always root for the higher-ranked team, ALWAYS. Agenda, agenda, agenda.

by Horn in Tyler on Dec 4, 2010 4:48 PM CST reply actions

Ha ha, against a good team we would have kneeled that ball down, with 3 TO’s. No coming back from that for SC.

Malzahn isn’t out of the picture as we had initially heard, feel free to watch his play calling with greater intent.

What does Gus call that play?

Sheesh. Cocks done, I think.

by Sailor Ripley on Dec 4, 2010 5:09 PM CST reply actions

It’s Gus the Coaching Fool.

Fool as in good, not the Les Miles kind.

by Tipsy Gypsie on Dec 4, 2010 5:17 PM CST reply actions

Auburn’s pass blocking is something to behold. The Preacher’s Son has all day to throw the ball. Every time.

by hornshornshorns on Dec 4, 2010 5:43 PM CST reply actions

Apparently, Cam Newton already won the Heisman?

by CZW on Dec 4, 2010 6:20 PM CST reply actions

OR vs AU. What we learned today: Crime pays.

by As innocent as OJ on Dec 4, 2010 6:49 PM CST reply actions

Cam Newton: “If God is with me, who could be against me?”

Jimmy Swaggart agrees.

by Scipio Tex on Dec 4, 2010 6:59 PM CST reply actions

If Newton wins the Heisman after the Bush fiasco then the award is rapidly on its way to becoming marginalized; already been significantly cheapened.

The only thing keeping the issue from full flaming is the lack of many other popular candidates this year.

by Black Scholes on Dec 4, 2010 7:08 PM CST reply actions

MNC: Take the over, IMO.

by Confused and Dazed on Dec 5, 2010 12:06 AM CST reply actions

I will be watching the MNC game with noseclips on to cut down the smell, for I am one of those sad, sad fools who actually believes in the hypocritical bilgewater concept of “student athlete” which the NCAA put paid to this week. I know that marks me as a moron, a naiff, someone to sell a ridiculously bloated life insurance policy to, but I don’t care. I got standards.

That said, I think we are in for the best stinkin’ BCSCG since Texas/Cheaters in ’05.

Heard this on 105.3 up here in Metroplex:
Guy on the radio (name unimportant) said: “If you bet on the Cocks and the Beavers you got screwed.”
Made me laugh.
