Podcast #30: The One Where Spencer Hall Goes Drinking With Dana Holgorsen
We had a great time on the podcast today with warrior-poet and all around man of letters Spencer Hall of famed weblog EDSBS, or Every Day Should Be Saturday if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
Follow him on Twitter @edsbs.
We talked Will Muschamp. We talked Dana Holgorsen. We talked about what sort of offense Steve Addazio will run for Coach Boom next year. We talked and talked and talked.
Hope you enjoy it.

Scipio:
How about an iPhone app for Fantake? Ideally it would support streaming these podcasts. I am killing time in an airport bar (two hour dealt at OAK, holla!) and I would love to listen to it. Instead I am going to be forced to flirt with the overweight blonde next to me…once she is done inhaling a burrito.

I, too, am listening in an airport bar (Jackson, MS ESS EE CEE COUNTRY).
Sadly, no sturdy blondes near me.
Good stuff, men.

Did Scipio actually use “parochial” and “booger eater” in the same monologue? Really?

Muschamp wanted Mack to hire Holgorsen but Mack wouldn’t listen and rejected that outright.

Now that the staff has finally settled in, what do you guys think of Mack’s hires? He did seem to break out of the orientation that we all feared, and you articulated early in this podcast.
On Florida:
Listening to this podcast, I am skeptical about one underlying assumption that seems to prevail — that is, that Florida is an essential equivalent to Texas and that, with a decent coach, they will be great going forward.
But I see one really significant difference between Texas and Florida. Florida has to share the considerable talent in the state with Miami and Florida State. I think it likely that a large reason for Florida’s recent success was that FSU and Miami were down. FSU seems to be pulling out of their malaise. Miami may or may not.
Since Florida has by far the greatest challenge from conference to navigate the season as a title contender, with a more standard distribution of talent between teams, Florida may not reach the trailing 5 year success ever again. i.e. this may have been Florida’s perfect storm.
