Bob Stoops has a 2-5 record in BCS games. This surprises me every time I see it.
There is NO way the fighting NateHeupels lose to the fighting Gino Auriemas, right? Right?

I’m not convinced that Stoops can’t find a way to fuck this up. When it comes to BCS games since little brother Mikey left, Bob could fuck up a ham sandwich. If we get off the bus in the first half against Boise, we win by 20. If we don’t lose 6 fucking starters against WVU, maybe we’re in that game, too. Maybe if Kevin Wilson doesn’t try the same fucking plays against Florida, OU already has an 8th national title. Maybe if my aunt has balls, she’s my uncle. My point is that Stoops needs to get his shit together.
That said, if we play up to our ability, we stomp UConn.

In fairness to Stoops, three of those five losses are in national title games.
by NateHeupel on Jan 1, 2011 7:46 PM CST reply actions
Course not. Stoops is WAAY too clutch for that.
by fitzhume on Jan 1, 2011 7:47 PM CST reply actions
Cam Kenney is looking sharp. He’s obviously earned the trust of Jones and the coaches. Two first downs is exactly what you want to start wearing down the UConn defense.
I’m worried that Heupel’s playcalling is going to look god-like against UConn’s inferior defense, and people are going to have outrageously stupid expectations.
by NateHeupel on Jan 1, 2011 7:51 PM CST reply actions
That’s exactly how OU needed to start the game. Heupel calling a great play on 3rd and 7. UConn’s secondary is going to have trouble keeping with Hanna’s 4.6 speed, let alone LB’s. Good red zone call.
Landry Jones starts 6/6. Another stat that might mislead.
by NateHeupel on Jan 1, 2011 7:58 PM CST reply actions
Good Lord, Connecticut sucks out loud.
I’m gonna go watch the Golf Channel.
by srr50 on Jan 1, 2011 7:59 PM CST reply actions
OU’s got its run defense personnel on the field. The short middle is going to be open all night.
by NateHeupel on Jan 1, 2011 8:00 PM CST reply actions
The head ref wears glasses? Great. That bodes well.
by NateHeupel on Jan 1, 2011 8:01 PM CST reply actions
Travis Lewis is not ready to be an NFL LB. Two of UConn’s three 1st down passes have been against him.
by NateHeupel on Jan 1, 2011 8:03 PM CST reply actions
That no call on the interference was ridiculous
by Puma Smell on Jan 1, 2011 8:08 PM CST reply actions
This is not going to end well for the Huskies.
by CrazyJoeDavola on Jan 1, 2011 8:12 PM CST reply actions
Wow. That was a bullshit call. This is like the 2008 OU-Florida game. The refs are going to let them “play ball” in the secondary.
by NateHeupel on Jan 1, 2011 8:12 PM CST reply actions
If it keeps up like this, UConn is 31 flavors of fucked.
by NateHeupel on Jan 1, 2011 8:20 PM CST reply actions
UConn couldn’t beat the Katy Lions. Golf Channel.
by Dmitri Kissov on Jan 1, 2011 8:21 PM CST reply actions
Screw OU, they’ve obviously bought off the near side ref. Luckily someone reminded me that outdoor NHL hockey is on tonight. Penguins just went up 1-0 early in the 2nd.

And I have an aunt-in-law now rooting for OU after she rooted vehemently for TCU all afternoon…after I said I hoped Wiscy would win.
Suffice it to say, I am outside stealing internets from neighbors out here in great Sam Rayburn reservoir!

This match-up is almost surreal. It’s like an early season cupcake game… but in a bowl game. A prestigious bowl game.
F the BCS. I want the old system back.
by BrickHorn on Jan 1, 2011 8:26 PM CST reply actions
Capitols score on a power play to tie it up 1-1.
by The frozen Michael E. Mann on Jan 1, 2011 8:28 PM CST reply actions
So UConn is the Big East co-champ with W Va. and Pitt.
How nice.
Look out, guys, and bend over. TCU is a-comin’!

Screw the BCS. Screw Jim Delany. Screw Bob Stoops. Screw this crappy bowl game.
I’m out.
by Puma Smell on Jan 1, 2011 8:30 PM CST reply actions
Heh. Now we know Stoopsy’s key to success. Make sure every BCS game in the future is against a 4 loss team from a weenie conference. Going to go watch a movie….

“F the BCS. I want the old system back.”
We know you want a playoff. Just say it.
by nordberg on Jan 1, 2011 8:36 PM CST reply actions
Capitols score again, lead 2-1.
And F the BCS, F OU, F Jim Delany, and F the clueless ignorant asshats who don’t want a championship earned on the field.
by The frozen Michael E. Mann on Jan 1, 2011 8:46 PM CST reply actions
Yeah, this UConn team is so bad that Stoops will get healthy.

Hey, where’s the write up on UT’s bowl game? I always love reading Scip’s take on things. TIA.

Its just amazing that ou stumbles in to a BCS game and draws an opponent that couldn’t beat Westlake Junior High.
by ransomstoddard on Jan 1, 2011 9:31 PM CST reply actions
Much rather have the old chaotic -all the big bowls on New Year’s day “system”- than these match-ups.
by saveusfrommackdavis on Jan 1, 2011 9:36 PM CST reply actions
There are a lot of comments suggesting that this game is over, and I agree that the outcome should be fairly certain given how terrible UConn is. But come on, have we already forgotten Utah State? Air Force? This game is not over, it is a ten point game in the 3rd quarter. OU can definitely find a way to fuck this up.
by DeepEddy on Jan 1, 2011 9:41 PM CST reply actions
Now it’s over. UConn’s terriblosity is so vast, that OU will win.
by Puma Smell on Jan 1, 2011 9:45 PM CST reply actions
That Broyles return was fun to watch. Too bad UConn won’t do anything with the turnover.
by Jerry on Jan 1, 2011 10:17 PM CST reply actions
I’m hoping OU blows a coverage or something and this becomes a 1 score game.
by ultralight on Jan 1, 2011 10:17 PM CST reply actions
Arch. The big 12 is craptastically crummy this year.
by Puma Smell on Jan 1, 2011 10:37 PM CST reply actions
We’ve sucked, but nothing like the Big 10.
This OU game is unspeakably bleah. Nothing really fun about it, except the Broyles return and the return of That One Cheerleader.
Otherwise, really meh. We’re not even getting one of those train-wreck bully-boy OU performances you get when the opponent is inferior and nothing of import is on the line.
Landry Jones is a poor man’s Matt Schaub.
by CrazyJoeDavola on Jan 1, 2011 10:53 PM CST reply actions
It was fun for us, but we’re not the guys who lost to pretty much everyone who came to our home stadium. So I can see why this wasn’t a good experience for you.
Austin Box looks like a character out of Dazed and Confused.

Nate, why are you acting like such a fucking cocksucker? Enjoy your great win over that unranked team.
by nordberg on Jan 1, 2011 11:28 PM CST reply actions
Wow. I don’t get the insecure posturing. Clearly Texas was not very good this year. Equally clear that OU was the far better team tonight and Connecticut (and the non-TCU Big East in general) have no business on a BCS field.
OU got a great or terrible draw here, depending on how you look at it. Good opponent to exorcise the BCS demons, but it was like playing an early-season noncon tuneup game.

nordberg,
Much like when you nail a fat girl after a long slump, sometimes you just have to be unreasonable. Considering I was a sophomore in college the last time OU won a BCS game (and I’m two semesters from a juris doctor degree presently), it’s been a real fucking long wait and I’ll take it how I can get it. You guys went 5-7, we won the conference and the Fiesta Bowl. For an ever so brief moment (right before your men’s b-ball team makes us eat shit), you can all kiss my ass.
I should have this out of my system sometime on the 3rd. Thanks for your understanding.
by NateHeupel on Jan 1, 2011 11:42 PM CST reply actions
Nate – It’s all good, as Bob relentlessly points out, three of loses are in the big game. You have to get there to give it a try.

I wish we were good enough to play in 4 Nat’l Championship games.
Much better than watching from home.
All those Big-XII Championship trophies must look good in the trophy case.

OU owns us.
In BCS games, OU lost to…
—Pete Carroll & Leinart & Bush & Lendale
—Nick Saban
—Urban Meyer & Tim Tebow
—Peterson & Boise
And OU still owns us.

As everyone has so affectionately called Stoops “Big Game Bob” during his BCS slump on this site, when will “No Bowl Brown” start being bandied about? The truth is, Stoops can lose 50 more BCS games, and he’ll never live up to the massive fail that is not going to a bowl with a top recruiting class in the same year as making a MNC appearance. However, OU has the same amount of BCS wins as Texas now, so the last thing to be held over their heads during the Brown/Stoops eras is now null and void. Hell, Texas Tech made a bowl, and they were putrid at best. Oh, and if you didn’t know, Stoops has had NINE 11-WIN SEASONS—kind of puts that 10-win season argument that you’ve held onto so dearly over the years to bed huh?
Great 2010 guys—at least the worst you can finish next year is 10th.
CONCLUSION (AS ALWAYS): TEXAS SUCKS!!!

Judging by his posting habits, quigley has himself cryogenically frozen when Texas is doing well. He comes out of hibernation to post third-rate smack when Texas is struggling. So yeah, he probably wasn’t aware of that.
