Texas Defense IS Legendary

Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?

If you’re a Texas Longhorns fan and also a fan of defense, you have to be loving this year’s team. Despite just missing out on a number one ranking, this iteration of the Longhorns has the potential of a number one seed come tourney time, and if things break right, a Final Four/Championship appearance. In Houston. Of course, it was Longhorn legend Darrell Royal that loved to quote "luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity," so let’s take a look at how Texas manufactures its "luck."

First, check out Texas’ Four Factors profile courtesy of Huckleberry's very own American Idol, Ken Pomeroy.

They currently rank #1 in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency at 82.3. That’s almost 4 points higher than the next team (the Chris Singleton-led FSU squad), and 18 points higher than the D-1 average (Northern Iowa, for example). Boy, that’s pretty good, you say. Almost as good as telling me that LeBron James leads the NBA in PER! But what does it really mean?

Check out the rest of jc25's article on the historic defensive season the Texas Longhorns are having over at MarchtoMarch.

Great stuff on the team formerly know as the Runnin' Horns. We'll be ramping up coverage of the conference tourneys and Big Dance in the coming weeks so bookmark it and follow us on Twitter @marchtomarch.

The pieces are there on both sides. I’m only worried about fatigue and dead legs in march.

I’m a big believer in playing to win every game. But would it be unwise for me to root for an early Big 12 Tourney exit if we pull off 16-0 in conference regular season? I think that locks up a #1 seed.

Minutes have been evenly distributed and are down from past years. I’m worried about free throw shooting.

I say we go 16-0 and then politely decline to participate in the Big 12 tournament.

His comment needed editing. It originally said “I say we go 16-0 and shit all over Bill Self’s face.”

I didn’t get it either.

Pretty defense makes the basketball good?

I’ve never seen a prison rape, but watching the Texas defense makes me scared to pick up the soap.

The comments on this thread are full of win. Good job fuckers.

Texas D the last few games has resembled the prison shower scene in American History X.

What does it mean? The Texas D is good, but the Big 12 is weak this year.

Almost all comments full of comedy. Vasherized in the lead, lol.
