March Madness: Sunday Open Thread
UNC currently down six to Washington and the Huskies have 10 team fouls to Carolina's 1. Wow.
If we can find a PAC 10 official, we have a chance.

UW is working UNC on the boards. That shouldn’t happen.

Romar must be Buddhist because I’d be going ape shit at the foul disparity.

“Only the 2nd foul called on NC in the first half,” said the announcer.
REALLY?
11 fouls on Washington, and one of them was a horrible offensive charging foul.

Isaiah Thomas is TJ Ford fast with the ball in his hands.
The Huskies would be up by 12-15 if this game were called fairly.
The Tar Heels don’t have enough guys that can hit jumpers so if they’re getting beaten up on the glass it’s game over.
Get rid of as many top seeds as you can, bloody brackets be damned.

Assuming they don’t care that he will stumble in to his own press conference drunk that is a great hire.
Over under on DUI’s in Lubbock is now set at 3.

Carolina refuses to defend. They get away with it because they have two flyswatters on the back end.

Overton shot that because he thought he was going to get fouled.

If UNC plays perimeter defense against Syracuse the way they did today, Zeller and/or Henson are certain to foul out. Joseph, Triche, Fair, and Jackson are big, athletic finishers.

The TNT studio analysts are just brutal.
“Playmakers must make plays in big games!”
“Why don’t ________(fill in team)_________ run more isolation plays for _________(Player X)_______?”
“_______(Team name)_________ just played good. _______(Team name)_______ was turrible.” (comment on any game decided by one shot)

When Duke makes twice as many free throws as their opponent attempts they’re 257 and 0.

Duke running the Texas under 5 minutes offense!

Kyrie Irving has been dominating the basketball in this five minute field goal drought for Duke.

Wow, some finish for Duke-Michigan. Mike Yen must be wicked exhausted right about now.

If there’s any value to Tournament basketball, it’s that it allows Texas fans to see how fucked up everyone else is in end of game situations.

K clearly stuck with the clock killing spread, even when it didn’t make sense when Duke was up by a possession with multiple possessions still out there. Duke generally runs that spread to perfection, especially the last 2 years, but it’s possibly cost Duke 2 national championships in 1998 when Kentucky came back from 17 down in elite 8 and 2004 when UConn came back from 7 or 8 down in the last 3-4 minutes. That zone really screwed it up today, and I still don’t understand why K didn’t switch it up.
Anyway, that spread offense at the end of games almost always works, but it scares the shit out of me. And it didn’t make any sense to me today. Nolan and Kyrie should have been attacking it immediately instead of waiting until the end of shot clock when it was clear we were having issues figuring it out, and also since Duke couldn’t stop MIchigan on the other end for a spell, which is another important part of successfully killing the clock with the spread.

This Ohio State team just has too many answers.
A really good trapping, pressure team a la the classic Razorback or Kentucky teams would give them a lot of grief, but that team doesn’t exist anymore in college basketball.
The Buckeyes will be a very tough out.
