Gus Johnson March Madness is No More
NCAA Buzzer Beaters will never be the same. CBS and play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson have parted ways.
Johnson has worked NFL and NCAA basketball for the network, but it is his animated calls at the conclusion of NCAA Tournament games that has earned him cult status among basketball fans. Johnson has been with CBS for 16 years, and sources report that the two sides could not agree on a new contract. Johnson already works for the Big 10 Network and is expected to find work quickly with Fox and its new Pac 12 deal.
Meanwhile, lets stroll down March Madness Memory Lane.

Apparently hope is not lost. CBS is now back in the picture after yesterday’s internet meltdown over this.
Johnson has also been contracted by Fox for NFL and the Pac12 to be their lead guy.

I’m sure CBS is shocked that America’s general reaction wasn’t, “Ooh, I hope this means Jim Nantz can call more games!”.

This sorrowful news is offset and then some by the announcement by the NFL Network that both Matt Millen and Joe Theissman have been shit canned from Thursday Night Football.
If it’s a trade-off, I’ll gladly take it.
