UNC goes to the loser’s bracket after falling 7-3 to Vandy.
Anyone down for the Nomar Drinking Game tonight?
by Kasey on Jun 18, 2011 5:01 PM CDT reply actions
Oooh! Do give details as to the rules of the Nomah drinking game!
by scagnetti on Jun 18, 2011 5:39 PM CDT reply actions
Its fairly simple. Drink every time Nomar brings up the ASU game, “interference”, or simply disregards all neutrality as a broadcaster and openly roots for Florida.
You’re gonna need a spare liver iced down next to your 6-pack of Shiner.
by Kasey on Jun 18, 2011 5:44 PM CDT reply actions
Fuck Mr. Hamm. We’re going to kick that ass.
by Trips Right on Jun 18, 2011 6:06 PM CDT reply actions
What does Nomar know about fielding? He was the National League’s only DH.
by Trips Right on Jun 18, 2011 6:24 PM CDT reply actions
Shepard with a huge RBI on a 0-2 count. Thank God he couldn’t get the bunt down.
1-0, Texas.
by Scipio Tex on Jun 18, 2011 6:43 PM CDT reply actions
Nice sacrifice fly on two strikes. 2-0, Horns. Big inning.
by Scipio Tex on Jun 18, 2011 6:46 PM CDT reply actions
Florida skipper gives off a “I’d like to punch him in the face” vibe.
by Scipio Tex on Jun 18, 2011 6:49 PM CDT reply actions
Erich Weiss comes through. 3-0, good guys.
What a crucial inning.
Hudson Randall’s teammates haven’t helped him at all and now his frustration level is rising with his pitch count.
by Scipio Tex on Jun 18, 2011 6:52 PM CDT reply actions
Augie ball is a huge advantage in a battle of aces.
by Trips Right on Jun 18, 2011 6:57 PM CDT reply actions
Are we sure that’s not Randall in the posted picture above?

Wow, what a play by Jungmann. Rally killer, imo.
by Trips Right on Jun 18, 2011 7:04 PM CDT reply actions
Jungmann just hung a curve ball, lucky for Texas Florida had a take sign on.
by Trips Right on Jun 18, 2011 7:05 PM CDT reply actions
This Jungmann meltdown surprises me.
3-2, Texas.
by Scipio Tex on Jun 18, 2011 7:07 PM CDT reply actions
I think he started to regress when I turned the game on. Nice play on the bunt. For $5 I’ll change the channel.
by KilgoreTrout on Jun 18, 2011 7:09 PM CDT reply actions
Not the postseason I would have expected from Jungmann at ALL – what gives? He’s got enough skins on the wall that it’s probably not nerves, right?
by nobis60 on Jun 18, 2011 7:09 PM CDT reply actions
KT, I’ll buy you a fleece thong to change the channel.
by Trips Right on Jun 18, 2011 7:11 PM CDT reply actions
Taylor got it back. Those last two at bats are what I expect from him.
by Scipio Tex on Jun 18, 2011 7:11 PM CDT reply actions
Blue’s zone is a little tight, I’d take some pitches.
by Trips Right on Jun 18, 2011 7:14 PM CDT reply actions
Strike zone’s pretty consistent IMO, Trips. With Jungmann all over the place to start the last inning, he’s not going to get some of those borderline pitches. Anxious to see what Jungmann comes out with this inning.
by AKHorn on Jun 18, 2011 7:19 PM CDT reply actions
Loy is going to play 12 years in the majors.
by Scipio Tex on Jun 18, 2011 7:21 PM CDT reply actions
AK, yeah it has, I’m just saying it’s been tight for both teams.
by Trips Right on Jun 18, 2011 7:22 PM CDT reply actions
4-3, Florida. Jungmann getting hit hard now.
by Scipio Tex on Jun 18, 2011 7:27 PM CDT reply actions
Jungmann’s all over the place. I wasn’t able to watch any UT games before the Super Regional, but my question is the same as the one posed by nobis. What’s happened to him over the last two weeks? The kid’s battling, and the play he made on the attempted sac bunt was HUGE. But in the games I’ve watched him pitch, he’s not been the ace I expected.
by AKHorn on Jun 18, 2011 7:27 PM CDT reply actions
I really hate to see this happening to Taylor. Very puzzling.
by New Braunfels Horn on Jun 18, 2011 7:29 PM CDT reply actions
AK, his stuff is fine, his command is what’s killing him.
by Trips Right on Jun 18, 2011 7:30 PM CDT reply actions
Jungmann done in 5.
Right move. He just doesn’t have it.
by Scipio Tex on Jun 18, 2011 7:44 PM CDT reply actions
He didn’t give Augie much choice. It doesn’t long for a team like Florida to put a game out of reach.
by VirginiaLonghorn on Jun 18, 2011 7:45 PM CDT reply actions
5-3, Gators.
Having guys that can hit for power showing its value.
by Scipio Tex on Jun 18, 2011 7:49 PM CDT reply actions
Well, shit. Gonna have to gut one out without much help from our ace.
by BrickHorn on Jun 18, 2011 7:50 PM CDT reply actions
3 consecutive 1, 2, 3 innings.
Not looking good for us.
by Scipio Tex on Jun 18, 2011 8:03 PM CDT reply actions
How many times are we going to watch a called third strike? It’s one thing to look for your pitch when the count is in your favor … but, with two strikes?
by VirginiaLonghorn on Jun 18, 2011 8:25 PM CDT reply actions
Another called third strike … that was far too close to take.
by VirginiaLonghorn on Jun 18, 2011 8:45 PM CDT reply actions
8-4 Gators and it wasn’t really that close, was it?
by Scipio Tex on Jun 18, 2011 9:08 PM CDT reply actions
Here we go again. Always having to come from behind.
by Kacie on Jun 18, 2011 9:16 PM CDT reply actions
Please explain to me what has happened to Taylor?
by Kacie on Jun 18, 2011 9:19 PM CDT reply actions
I live in Florida….don’t get to see Texas play much until the postseason. I’ve seen four starts by Jungmann now.
I guess I’ll trust everyone who says he’s as good as advertised.
But he hasn’t shown me shit this postseason.
by Orangeblood79 on Jun 18, 2011 9:25 PM CDT reply actions
Scipio, you or Trips said this team’s Max was probably just reaching Omaha. I agreed then and now. We’ll be very lucky or gritty not to 2 and q.
by 2xHorn on Jun 18, 2011 9:26 PM CDT reply actions
Taylor has thrown a shitload of innings and pitches this season. Many pretty nerve wracking because of our shit ass offense. I think he’s worn out mentally if not physically.
by 2xHorn on Jun 18, 2011 9:29 PM CDT reply actions
Indeed. I am happy to just make the CWS. I am not sure many gave this team a chance at the beginning of the season.
by Kacie on Jun 18, 2011 9:48 PM CDT reply actions
Don’t get me wrong, I love my Horns and still believe they can do it (as they have all postseason long).
by Kacie on Jun 18, 2011 9:50 PM CDT reply actions
Yes, we do have high expectations…compare Florida’s ballpark to ours. We invest in results!
by Kacie on Jun 18, 2011 10:29 PM CDT reply actions
Getting to Omaha is a successful season.
Now our guys should play focus on playing loose in the loser bracket and see what happens.
by Scipio Tex on Jun 19, 2011 12:16 AM CDT reply actions
Well, all eight of the CWS teams finish in the top 31 of team ERA, and six in the top 13. Only three of the top 50 teams in batting average are there.
by Bob in Houston on Jun 19, 2011 10:20 AM CDT reply actions
Jungmann looks to be having back or shoulder problems. Not huge, but his throwing shoulder is jerking around just at the end of delivery, not finishing smoothly. This would cause accuracy problems, as seen against Florida. Looks like when he slows down to try to get control back, he’s still not getting it where he wants it and winds up grooving the pitch, with predictable results. Did anybody get a gun on him regularly in this game?
by Furbert MacGillivray on Jun 19, 2011 10:44 AM CDT reply actions
Crank up the dreamwagon!
Texas won the CWS one time from the loser’s bracket……in Rosenblatt’s first year (1950).
