Burton said this on 247, but that part of the game immediately following Gilbert’s near-fumble was the story.

Cody converts the 4th-and-1, Harris to Shipley, followed by getting pinned at the 1, only to drive 99 yards for the score…

That was winning time.

As great as this is… it’s still not the same thing as watching it. :(

We live in great days.

yeah, those two back-to-back 94 yard (after the penalty on one) drives did it for me. if your wheels are going to come off, there’s where it happens. those kids dug in and didn’t just get enough space to punt, they drove for scores. back-breaker in this game and huge baby steps for a young squad.

and for that to happen right after the buster keaton sight gag play was very impressive. that’s some character we are talking about.

“It’s a simple game, men: keep your lines unbroken and you score. Avoid dots. There’s no holes for the rats to crawl in, now.”

I appreciate all the work some of you have put in, linking animated drives, here, putting up snapshots of plays and explaining them there. Really, I don’t want to be ungrateful. But not seeing the game or even a rebroadcast of the game, or even game clips on ESPN’s College Gameday (is ESPN banning all non-LHN coverage?) has me kind of pissed. Seems like nothing on Longhorn’s football other than what can be found on BC or BON. Ruined my weekend.

Who needs LHN?

AUUUGH Ok I see why this thread is an invitation to sarcastic LHN comments, but at some point it has to stop. Right?

Y’all folk who missed the game? You lost out on seeing a fairly ugly walkover against Rice. By the time the Kansas game rolls along – another gawdawful opponent, incidentally – chances are decent that you’ll not only see the game, but also pre-game shows, coach and coordinator analysis, daily practice updates, some Hard-Knocks-type behind-the-scenes footage, pre-season basketball stuff, and probably a good number of soft-focus featurettes on cow life and flexible chicks in chaps.

Plus if you’d been participating in the game thread, you’d have seen someone link to an excellent live stream of the game. Because LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE ON TV it was live-streamed by someone.

This “the world is ending because I didn’t see the Rice game” stuff is BS. Go watch it now, it’s on torrents and whatnot.

I understand others frustration with not being able to see the game. I was “lucky” enough to go to the one bar in Austin that was showing the game. I had to get there two hours early and got the last seat in the house but I did get to see the game. The Longhorn Network is an excellent broadcast of the game. If you could’t see it I know that doesn’t t mean much. But I do think if they can ever work out deals with the major carriers we will have one of the best views in the nation of our team. Patience is tough when you can’t see the game. But it may turn out to be worth it if we can ever get the distibution that has failed us so far.

@sventura

Looks like it’s in there to me.

Based on that it looks like Rice dominated starting field position. We didn’t do our defense any favors there. Only 4 times did Rice start with 80 or more yards to go. We started that way 7 times.

by Jerry on Sep 5, 2011 4:03 PM CDT reply actions

Jerry – but that’s what happens when we score and they don’t. It’s a lot easier to find yourself in bad field position when they’re punting from the 50 rather than kicking off.

You know what? That’s a perfectly defensible attitude if you are attending the University of Utah. But We’re Texas, and unless we are playing atm or some SEC flunky on probation, the game should damn well be on a reasonably achievable cable or satellite channel.

I’m sure you’re a nice guy, Dagga, but take your bit torrent and shove it. With the LHN.

I know this sounds counter-intutive but it’s because “We’re Texas” that it happened this way.

There has literally never been anything like this before. We’re sailing over the There Be Dragons script.

There’s a bit of immediate pain but because We’re Texas, you are likely going to end up with something pretty amazing.

We’ll see.

obviously like your web-site but you need to check the spelling on several of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling issues and I in finding it very bothersome to tell the truth on the other hand I will certainly come again again.
