2011 College Football National Championship Odds According to BoDog

These updated odds courtesy of BoDog:

Odds to win the 2011-2012 BCS Championship

Alabama 7/4
Oklahoma 3/1
LSU 9/2
Wisconsin 7/1
Boise State 10/1
Clemson 12/1
Stanford 12/1
Oklahoma State 12/1
Michigan 20/1
Oregon 30/1
Georgia Tech 50/1
West Virginia 50/1
Texas 125/1

Looks to me like the most interesting play is Wisconsin at 7-1 and LSU at 9/2. Alabama 7/4 is fairly awful value.

Thoughts?

Right there with you on Wisconsin.

If Oklahoma State is still 12-1 after this weekend, they might have some value as well.

I like your thinking on LSU and Wisconsin. Not sure I would take OU at 3-1 if it was after the season and I knew they were in the championship game. I sure wouldn’t put money down on OU or Alabama at those odds right now,

Even if they had Superman, Batman, the Flash, and Jesus on their team, Clemson’s odds ought to be taking a bigger hit for being Clemson.

Of course, every week I’ve been waiting for them to “pull a Clemson” and they keep not doing it, so who knows.

LSU would seem to be 9/2 because they play at Alabama. I like wisconsin but they now have a conference championship game, perhaps against The Corn. No one enjoys facing the screaming Pelinis twice in one season.

Boise and Stanford are interesting. Stanford is at USC, but gets Oregon and ND at home. Boise’s sked is, of course, a ridiculous cakewalk, and they draw TCU at home. A 13-0 Stanford team is probably a shoo-in over any 12-1 SEC or Big 12 team. I’m not sure Boise gets in at 13-0, but they’ll have the human votes.

Alabama has already taken care of Arkansas and Florida, and with Miss St and Auburn disappointing, a home draw against LSU is the only significant challenge left. South Carolina as the East rep in the SEC Championship could be interesting, but no guarantees they get there. LSU plays at Bama, and still has to play Arkansas (they too miss USC). That’s probably the cause for the lower odds.
