As long as Behrman doesn’t allow any 3rd and 26 completions to Blackshear, we should be OK.

Too late, Russell Erxleban’s son is punting for Tubby.
By the way, I’m heading down to the Barking Carnival tailgate in the next half hour. Come by and say hi and watch the ballgame with dedfisher if you don’t have tickets. I’m the good looking son of a bitch with the top hat. Tipsy’s the dude with feathers in his mullet and a dreamcatcher amulet.

My eight-year-old son and I are in Austin from New Jersey for our first Longhorns game! Beat Texas Tech! Hook ’Em Horns!

Hope you two enjoy the game, Marc. A nice father-son outing to be sure.
Scipio,
It appears WebMD has addressed this Red Raider topic previously:

We had damn well better win — I’m giving up my tee time in order to swing by the BC tailgate and make this game.
by srr50 on Nov 5, 2011 7:03 AM CDT reply actions
This is not the Tech of years passed. We may run for 400 on them.

I’ll be at work all day. Been here since 4:45 am, and I’ll be back at the same time tomorrow.
I will be taping the game, but will hopefully be abe to sneak off to check on the fourth quarter.
Enjoy the tailgate, I hear Vasherized has free Skoal…
Hook ’em!

For the fuck of shit, t-sippers, it’s “Raider Rash,” which is sometimes red. Lot of good that “higher quality education” has done you.

Our “high quality education” has taught us how to take a joke.

I heard they moved this game from DKR to the practice bubble because of the LHN.

Amy-“you’re always a woman to me”
Thank you for giving me some insight to the sheep fetish.
Or is this a tricky Aggie that likes to go undercover as a woman? You all are so militarily astute it is hard to figure out your true identities

Getting ready to head to Junction Bar and Grille in Houston for the watch party. Wish I could have made it to Austin and the BC tailgate, but I’ll for sure be there against KSU. Hook em!

Can’t wait to see Malcom Brown and Joe “Bigger Dickerson” Bergeron put the hurt on fingerguns.

I’m taping the game. Please don’t post anything here that spoils it for me. Umkay?

Anybody got any live stream urls for the game for a desperate fan up at 2amin sydney ? Thanks

Mmm, hard boiled eggs and bloody marys for breakfast.
It is incomprehensible to me that the team we’re playing today A) Beat OU in Norman, and B) lost to Iowa St. 41-7.

Hook’em Horns from sunny Costa Rica!!
Beat Tech!
Brown and Bergeron for 100+ yards each would be SWEEEEEET!!!

There’s usually someone on justin dot tv streaming Texas games.
Point yhour browser to justin dot tv slash directory slash sports slash football to see current live streams. I believe that even as I type, our buddy at LSUCast is about to bring up the Texas/Tech game at justin dot tv slash lsxucast
The front row sports site is a link farm and usually will include links to justin and other streamers.

There should be plenty of streaming options (fingers crossed) as they don’t carry FX games on cable here in Switzerland. Although LSU/Bama will be on ESPN American tonight.
Tech girls and rashes, good to see those two still go together.

by craigbiggiosdirtyuniform on Nov 5, 2011 11:19 AM CDT reply actions
anyone have any clue where the game might be streaming on the interwebs? In hospital with father and can only get the red raider broadcast. brutal…
by anonymous on Nov 5, 2011 11:19 AM CDT reply actions
Why do we look surprised that they are running a spread offense? Not an auspicious beginning.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:19 AM CDT reply actions
Diggs has to catch that.
Diaz lovs him some delayed blitzes against a spread QB?
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:20 AM CDT reply actions
Diggs getting picked on like the OU game. Red Raider coaches watched film and decided to go after Diggs.

Bullshit PI call on us. Fuck that whore shit
by craigbiggiosdirtyuniform on Nov 5, 2011 11:22 AM CDT reply actions
I just don’t understand what we’re doing defensively here.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:22 AM CDT reply actions
Yeah, that would be good. the second one looked a lot more like targeting than it did PI. Still, why the blitz?
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:23 AM CDT reply actions
tech seems determined to piss down their leg here.
by mattdubya on Nov 5, 2011 11:24 AM CDT reply actions
Big 3rd down boys. Let’s hold them to a FG.
by craigbiggiosdirtyuniform on Nov 5, 2011 11:24 AM CDT reply actions
Big win for the D after they had 1st and goal twice. Big, big win for Manny’s D.
by craigbiggiosdirtyuniform on Nov 5, 2011 11:26 AM CDT reply actions
Hmm, the one 3rd down where we don’t bring the house we get a stop. It’s almost like Tech runs an offense designed to beat the blitz.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:26 AM CDT reply actions
I think Tech ran more offensive plays on their opening drive than Kansas did all game.
by triplehorn on Nov 5, 2011 11:27 AM CDT reply actions
Big 10 “legends” division? Is the other one “heartbreakers?” I’m detecting a Houston strip club motif.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:30 AM CDT reply actions
“And here comes the Texas smash-mouth offense.”
A few years ago it would have been hard to imagine an announcer saying that as he broke for a commercial.
by Rick Parry on Nov 5, 2011 11:30 AM CDT reply actions
Excellent P&C. I was about to post I expect to see Ash run more today than previously.
by triplehorn on Nov 5, 2011 11:32 AM CDT reply actions
We have to block a little bit to give Bergeron a chance there. no Brown, I see.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:32 AM CDT reply actions
Maybe they figure Bergeron will wear them out and take the big hits early, then Malcom comes in later against a gassed defense and goes for the jugular
by Patrick on Nov 5, 2011 11:33 AM CDT reply actions
He does not have a big leg, but it sneaks through.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:33 AM CDT reply actions
Pretty pissed off that we ran Brown 30 times last week. That’s ridiculous.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:34 AM CDT reply actions
Thanks for the update. I suspect Fozzy will get the rock in the wildcat a bunch
by John on Nov 5, 2011 11:35 AM CDT reply actions
TT putting 8-9 in the box. Who could have guessed? Come on Harsin
by RS on Nov 5, 2011 11:35 AM CDT reply actions
Too predictable on O in that first drive. Ran on 1st and 2nd then pass on 3rd and long. Since they are stacking the box a nice play action on 1st should get us some good yards.
Harsin saw what Tubbs ran out there in the first series and is now taking the safety off all his weapons. He won’t make that mistake again.
by craigbiggiosdirtyuniform on Nov 5, 2011 11:35 AM CDT reply actions
Turf toe? Damn!
I was hoping to see another dual 100 from Brown and Bergeron.
by lurkerinthedark on Nov 5, 2011 11:36 AM CDT reply actions
New to this board…
Not a good start in the T.O.P. department, huh?
by MissedAustin on Nov 5, 2011 11:36 AM CDT reply actions
I think Harsin wanted to see what he had against 8 or 9 in the box. Definitely not a true power running team yet.
by Diego on Nov 5, 2011 11:37 AM CDT reply actions
Our kickoff coverage has been great the last couple games
by Patrick on Nov 5, 2011 11:37 AM CDT reply actions
MissedAustin- Welcome!
i believe TOP is overrated as a stat but you’re right, it would be nice to be able to run the ball consistently and eat some time.
by craigbiggiosdirtyuniform on Nov 5, 2011 11:37 AM CDT reply actions
I don’t like single back sets much, especially if the TE on the weakside of the run can’t hold a block for one and a half seconds.
Let’s see if Diaz can learn from his mistakes.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:39 AM CDT reply actions
TOP is overrated as a stat
Scoreboard control is the only meaningful statistic.
by Fong the Merciless on Nov 5, 2011 11:39 AM CDT reply actions
Jackson in along with Wilson. Manny looks like he’s developing trust in his back ups.
by John on Nov 5, 2011 11:41 AM CDT reply actions
If you have a depth problem on D (and who doesn’t have a depth problem on D vs Tech?), ToP is huge (because it keeps your D from getting exhausted).
by Kafka on Nov 5, 2011 11:41 AM CDT reply actions
Can’t we just run The Foz in MB’s place and leave Bergeron as the second half hammer?
by Art Vandelay on Nov 5, 2011 11:42 AM CDT reply actions
Jackson getting walked off the field, but walking on his own
by Patrick on Nov 5, 2011 11:42 AM CDT reply actions
Desmond Jackson is huge for a freshman, in a good way
by tucsonhorn on Nov 5, 2011 11:42 AM CDT reply actions
it would help if we didnt keep giving up 4 yards on their crappy run game

Tech is pretty sharp, but our D is on fire!

Damn kids calling me away from the TV during Ash’s scamper
by tucsonhorn on Nov 5, 2011 11:48 AM CDT reply actions
Ash has good straight=line white-boy speed. He’s much faster than I thought.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:49 AM CDT reply actions
Davis has to look up and back after his cut and see the QB better and all the room he’s got in the middle. That miss is on both of them. Nice run by Ash!
by Bobby Duprea on Nov 5, 2011 11:49 AM CDT reply actions
From what I just saw, Ash is faster than Colt. Never would have guessed from what I had seen up to then.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:49 AM CDT reply actions
the ball was overthrown, ransom. davis beat his dude w/ ease.
by mattdubya on Nov 5, 2011 11:49 AM CDT reply actions
Great vision Ash. The middle parted like the Red Sea and he took advantage
by RS on Nov 5, 2011 11:50 AM CDT reply actions
Love Harsin’s adjustments this drive. Play action on 1st and going deep. A hand-off to Monroe for good yards. Ash running will give them something else to think about even if not a designed play.
by craigbiggiosdirtyuniform on Nov 5, 2011 11:50 AM CDT reply actions
You who miss Colt must miss that ball dropping short in the turf. Colt could not throw that pass until MAYBE his senior year.
by Bobby Duprea on Nov 5, 2011 11:50 AM CDT reply actions
I posted above I expected to see Ash run more today. No Shipley, and as of yet no Brown.
by triplehorn on Nov 5, 2011 11:50 AM CDT reply actions
Ball was inaccurate and poorly thrown. You have to put air under it and let the receiver go get it when he is that open.
by lonesome devil on Nov 5, 2011 11:51 AM CDT reply actions
Who is the announcer that just said Ash won the starting job because of his legs?
by ethorn on Nov 5, 2011 11:52 AM CDT reply actions
Our we winning the line battle? Our O-Line has not opened many rubbing holes but that may be Tech stacking the box.
Thoughts?
by craigbiggiosdirtyuniform on Nov 5, 2011 11:52 AM CDT reply actions
Watch out boys. Here comes the train, known as Bergeron. Wow.
by ValleyLonghorn on Nov 5, 2011 11:53 AM CDT reply actions
mean joe is mad that he didn’t get to crumple that next tech db
by mattdubya on Nov 5, 2011 11:53 AM CDT reply actions
rubbing holes = running holes. LOL
by craigbiggiosdirtyuniform on Nov 5, 2011 11:53 AM CDT reply actions
We will run the ball better if we spread out and then hammer the middle. Piling bodies doesn’t open anything up. Gives tech the advantage of knowing they don’t have to defend other threats.
by lonesome devil on Nov 5, 2011 11:53 AM CDT reply actions
Foswhit!
He’s been so great this year. So great.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:54 AM CDT reply actions
the ball wasn’t underthrown, he lead him by about two yards to much.
by TXPride on Nov 5, 2011 11:54 AM CDT reply actions
Don’t know what it is, but Fozzy just seems faster and stronger when he’s running out of the Wildcat. Great run.
by bigdukesix on Nov 5, 2011 11:54 AM CDT reply actions
Holes seemed to open when we went to the WildFozzy and gave them the speed option on the outside to think about. Were we in the I form to begin the game?
Seems like Harsin has found something.
by craigbiggiosdirtyuniform on Nov 5, 2011 11:55 AM CDT reply actions
txpride: he shoulda heaved it further and higher, imo
by mattdubya on Nov 5, 2011 11:55 AM CDT reply actions
If Fozzy is a superhero, Bennie Wylie must be his mad scientist. What physical difference for him this year.
by triplehorn on Nov 5, 2011 11:56 AM CDT reply actions
Two more drives like that will take the wind right of Tech
by Patrick on Nov 5, 2011 11:56 AM CDT reply actions
Fozzy never slows down from the Wildcat — he just rockets through there. He seems to read the blocks much more comfortably like that. Also, the stupid ass zone read did not do Fozzy any favors earlier in his career. He likes to get a running start.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 11:57 AM CDT reply actions
The ball was more too far right, than too far overthrown, and Davis and he were on the wrong page. It was more on Ash but they need more timing work.
by Bobby Duprea on Nov 5, 2011 11:57 AM CDT reply actions
i gottaack and go back and lool at the replay, it looked like it had the distance, just not placed where it needed to be. moot point now, we ending up scoring anyway

by Bobby Duprea on Nov 5, 2011 11:59 AM CDT reply actions
Great series for Ash. I like the way he barreled the one guy at the end of his long run. Good athlete we got there. The long passes will come around.
We can’t let that james pussy keep catching passes. Someone needs to fuck that punk up. Even if it is dirty.

d-line looking much improved the last two weeks
by TXPride on Nov 5, 2011 12:02 PM CDT reply actions
The frustrating thing about the Diaz defense so far this year is that when they make a mistake it seems to be a huge one. the Ok State TD runs, for instance. And that BS to James.
But they play much better in the red zone.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 12:02 PM CDT reply actions
Manny’s line starting to take control. We need to limit the bonehead plays and missed assignments and we’ll be ok.
by craigbiggiosdirtyuniform on Nov 5, 2011 12:03 PM CDT reply actions
The defense took a couple of plays to settle down on that drive, but did their job. Nice.
They are bending, but points is all that matters.
by lurkerinthedark on Nov 5, 2011 12:04 PM CDT reply actions
Did Gideon blow that, or did someone else miss the call?
by Fong the Merciless on Nov 5, 2011 12:04 PM CDT reply actions
I don’t know who blew that. Couldn’t even hazard a guess. James was lined up inside, like a flex-TE nearly.
by Toadvine on Nov 5, 2011 12:05 PM CDT reply actions
Big run gain. O-Line pushing red raiders out of the way!
Both lines starting to dominate.

I don’t know who blew that. Couldn’t even hazard a guess. James was lined up inside, like a flex-TE nearly.

Right now, the only weaknesses I’m seeing are these:
1. Our passing is improving, but still has a long way to go to be really competent.
2. We need to complete the turnover acquisition on defense. Our guys are all over the ball most of the time. Let’s get those turnovers!
In every other way, we are looking like a vastly better team than early in the year.
What our coaches have accomplished thus far is very comforting.

Go look at Earl, then look at Burgeron. It is amazing the similarities, you cannot ankle tackle him because of his long stride and how high he picks up his feet. Ive told people before he put on the Texas helmet he was going to be the best back Texas has had in a while. I saw him play at Mesquite several times. His High School coach did not feature him for who knows what reason. The kid can play.

It is such a pleasure to watch this young team come together. There are so many lights coming on for young players: Dorsey, Bergeron, Ash (running the ball, throwing it away when he needs to). Sedonajim – Not saying anything about conf title this year. The team is playing great and improving game by game like I hoped. I wrote some stuff last year, early in the year, about how we were unreasonably expecting Davis to implement a power running game over one off season. It takes a while to implement that (and coaches that know what they are doing). I just hate to hear people talk about making Natty runs we we have only won 2 conf titles in 13 years.
Not sure who to give credit to this line from GoodFellas, but loved it: Stoops 7 conf titles, Brown 2 conf titles. Fuck you, pay me.

Case tapped out against OU and didn’t want to play at the end of that game.
If he doesn’t want to play when times are tough, why put him in to get a taste of this?
Keep his ass on the bench to help him fully understand that there is no such thing as a part-time Longhorn.
He quit on this team. If he’s committed to being a Longhorn, he’ll be here next year. Maybe then we can consider giving him another opportunity to step on the field to represent this team as a Longhorn.

Thanks for a great game, Texas! Dominating performance, pure and simple.
Congrats to players and coaches, alike. Can’t wait to see ’em next week vs Missouri, WITH Shipley and Malcolm Brown on the field.
Nice to enjoy a game without suffering a coronary.
Hook ’em, baby!

No turnovers – true. But Texas DBs dropped 2 or 3 interceptions. Gotta work on that a bit. I’m sure Coach Akina will bring up that small subject next week in practice.
Still, a huge game for the defense, holding Doege to 2 TDs.

The whole team has come so far in the last few weeks.
I’m really proud of them.

On LHN, Priest Holmes said the Texas staff better be careful about overusing the lead running backs (i.e. Brown and Bergeron) or those guys will be making unnecessary trips to the training room (for medical attention). Rather than run Malcolm into the ground against KU and then run Joe into the ground against Tech, wouldn’t it have been better to give 15 carries to both of them on successive weekends? With our luck, Joe will be held out of the game next week at Mizzou because of his injury today.
by PoofyBevo on Nov 5, 2011 3:13 PM CDT reply actions
Nahhhh… Holmes is wrong. Brown and Bergeron will be fine. These kids are being baptized by fire and they will come out just fine. Hell, Brown was itching to get in, like a race horse chomping at the bit. Holmes has to realize these kids are a special breed. That said, J. Hills is proving he deserves some carries.

I’m with Poofy… A little more situational awareness on the RB carries would helpmprevent scary moments like the one where JB went down. That said, GREAT game.

To think that J. Bergeron is taller and weighs about the same as E. Campbell and R. Williams did while at Texas. JB is simply a BEAST. You fellas need to relax, Bergeron and Brown will be fine, just a little dinged-up, it’s the scars that come with the game.

Brown has turf toe.
Mack ran Malcolm Brown way too much last week and Bergeron way too much this week. It was easy to see that they were exhausted way before they were taken out. A tired back is way more prone to injury. Once the game is a blow out it is really stupid to risk injuring a star tailback, especially when Texas has so many fresh TBs ready to go.
Super glad to see Darius get on the board. I hope this invigorates him, mister, we could use a WR like Darius.
I thought Ash might run well today since the Tech D is not that great. When Ash cuts loose with his arm, he usually overthrows. He has a big time arm. Once he gets that strength a little bit better calibrated, he is going to hit most of those long throws.

Happy Birthday, Joe.
• On his 19th birthday, true freshman Joe Bergeron rushed for a season-high 191 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries for his second straight 100-yard game.
• Bergeron’s tied a school record for rushing touchdowns in single game by a freshman, matching the three touchdowns in one game by Cody Johnson (Oklahoma, 2008), Jamaal Charles (Rice, 2005) and Butch Hadnot (Houston, 1990). Bergeron scored on runs of nine, five and 12 yards to give him five rushing touchdowns this season.
• The 191 rushing yards rank second most by a freshman in school history and is just the 11th time a Texas freshman has rushed for at least 150 yards in a game. The total was the most by any Texas player since 2007 when Jamaal Charles had 290 yards on 33 carries against Nebraska.

Sorry for Broyles. Hope he recovers.
Does anyone think Major keeps count of carries? There is just no excuse for flogging these freshman backs like this in blowout games. It cost us Malcolm Brown (and turf toe tends to linger) and it looks like Bergeron might have hurt himself. Irresponsible and unnecessary. I’d like to hear a coach speak to this.

Great game today and fun to be there once again to taunt the evil fans from my home town. Glad I went to a real school (kidding…kinda). Anywho some observations…
Watching the sidelines today was different. Been at every home game this year and haven’t seen so much energy and action on the sidelines. Coaches getting loud and really getting into it with the players. Players walking along and (looked to be) encouraging each other and keeping up their mental focus. Haven’t seen leadership and togetherness like that since 2008 really. Props to what the new staff has been able to mold.
Stacey Searels is earning his freaking money. That coach has turned a patchwork and useless line into a force to be reckoned with. Anyone can tell that they get it now…holes are opening wide and numerous blocks on the second level. Next year’s O Line might be a nasty SOB.
Glad we got a chance to rest Brown. Deserves it as well. Bergeron is the real deal as well. Pure power and we could even hear pad collisions where I was sitting. He may have gone a little too long today BUT it also may have been his call as well. Looked like cramps and it did get kind of warm so it’s probably not much at all. I cannot wait until our backfield consists of Brown, Gray, Bergeron, and Monroe (+ some Hills). I can tell you now, teams are looking at that as well and are not too happy.
D looked good. Jeffcoat’s switch has been turned on and he looks healthy. Our D Line just looks like they are being told to get there any way you possibly can and it’s working. Decent pressure today. Doege ( or whatever) started to have a hard time staying in the pocket because it was collapsing much faster so kudos to the defensive front. LBs did what they were supposed to do (mostly) and I liked the attitude they were playing with. Seemed like they were flying around a little faster. Secondary wasn’t as nasty but for good reason. They were playing zone coverage all day and their cushions allowed for shorter out passes/screens. However, when they needed to, they tackled and kept the plays from doing a lot of damage. A few blown assignments but the youth is understandable and that is going to happen.
Better kick coverage, good return yardage on both punts and kick returns.
Overall, amazing game. Great scheme to exploit weakness. Let’s roll with it and keep punching teams in the mouth with Mizzou up next. AND Saban is still an A@%HOLE

Next game is at Mizzou. Very balanced O and a much better run D than Tech. Texas will have to throw it more than 9 times.
by Kafka on Nov 5, 2011 10:52 PM CDT reply actions
Texas will have to throw it more but no sense in at least not keeping it 75% run 25% pass at least in the first half. Seems like once our RBs wind up the O-Line is starting to play off of that energy. I doubt we go much over, if at all, 25% pass plays.
Their O might give us a few fits. However, I would have said I “knew” they would if this was earlier in the season. I think the D has really come together and keeps getting better. I’m no sunshine pumper but this team has really come around in terms of play and they are starting to build an identity. I like our chances against Mizzou

I don’t think our rb’s give a fuck about “how much better” Mizzou’s run D is. It’s apparent that it’ll take more than just “much better” to stop these badasses. Joe B said it best- You keep hitting them, and eventually they’ll crack. Love our stable of rb’s
by Hand Gestures on Nov 6, 2011 9:20 AM CST reply actions
Does Texas now have the best defense in the Big 12? Certainly looks like it based on the last two (three) games. OU’s is good, the rest of the conference’s D’s are terrible. The number of points and yards some teams are putting up is embarrassing. I know the team is young and it is early, but I like the UT formula for possible future domination: play smash-mouth, run the ball, get a lead, dominate TOP and play aggressive shut-down D. The entire conference is video game spead offense and bad D. Ut would be well served to create an “SEC-style” team in the Big 12.
by TypeO on Nov 6, 2011 9:20 AM CST reply actions
@ hand gestures
I’m not speaking so much for our RBs. I’m talking about the coaching scheme heading up there. Honestly, what I see happening is we pound the ball the first series or two and see just how their D reacts and holds up. Then it will probably adjust from there. Should be interesting though.
by STLaw on Nov 6, 2011 11:56 AM CST reply actions
Type O, when OU’s is healthy it’s better, but not by as much as it was a month ago. We are one senior safety away from being a very good defense across the board.
KSU does some things we haven’t had to face so far, and there’s the hex factor to deal with, but we should handle Baylor and Missouri and I now like our chances against Aggy. This offense reached another level when Poehlmann was moved to TE and then Bergeron took it up another notch. There are so many qualities about Joltin’ Joe to like, but my favorite is how he finds the right hole to run almost every time, which is very important in this scheme. I was sitting there yesterday trying to anticipate where we were going based on the shifts, overloads, etc. and was right about half the time. I swear Harsin can attack a defensive front from the same formation in any gap he chooses and Joe either knows instinctively where that hole is going to develop or he takes nicely to being coached. The long run is an ideal example. Looking at how we were lined up, I had no idea we were going to attack the edge, but that’s exactly where the play was called and the hole was wider than Charlie Weiss’ ass. Joe didn’t waste any steps in barrelling through it and showed some speed when he got into the open field. He made some beautful cuts all day that you have to be there to see. What a pleasant surprise he is. I’d heard good things about him, but didn’t expect this. If Harsin and Searles can get what they are getting out of the pot luck lunch they inherited in this OL, think of what they’ll do in the next few years. Good days are ahead offensively.
Manny game planned Tech perfectly yesterday. Nice rotation of his DL to finally wear their O line down with an honest front in the late first half and second halves. I don’t know who was at fault on the James play, but I’m saving the replay for late tonight. When I got home last night, I alternately watched KSU/OSU, the GOTC and then finished watching OU feast on Aggy’s third quarter brain farts. Defenses seem to have figured Tannehill out with enough game tape on him, BTW.
An absolute shame about Broyles but, IMO, OSU’s stock is now on the rise for Bedlam. We need to root for them and/or Stanford to run the table to avoid a rerun of the GOTC (forget Boise). I believe at least one of them can do it, and it would be icing on the cake if the “poor old unstable Big 12” managed to get an appearance in the MNC game while those geniuses in the B1G don’t even have a team in the Top 10 at season’s end while the SEC’s newest teams played at .500. for the season.
As far as I’m concerened, we are ahead of schedule and playing our best football. This team has a genuine identity on both sides of the football. Given the opponent, this was our most complete game of the season.

In the last two games Texas averaged rushing 440 ypg vs KU and Tech, the two worst run defenses in the Big 12. Tech had DTs that weigh <= 265 pounds. Mizzou has DTs that weigh around 300 pounds. The LBs weigh around 230 pounds. It will be surprising if Mizzou does not force Texas to throw more than 9 times or if Texas rolls up 440 yards rushing vs Mizzou.
Probably the Texas O looks like the attack vs KU, which was mostly running but with a short passing attack mixed in to punish Mizzou for packing the box plus a few deep play actions passes as we saw yesterday vs Tech.
Ash was 4 of 7 for 125 yards vs Tech, so his average completion was over 31 yards (and he was close on the passes that he missed). Ash also rushed for 59 yards on 4 rushes. That adds up to 184 yards total offense. If Mizzou doesn't account for Ash, he can make them pay. If Darius can play meaningful minutes, it would probably make it much easier for Ash to connect on the long play action pass.

“If Harsin and Searles can get what they are getting out of the pot luck lunch they inherited in this OL, think of what they’ll do in the next few years. Good days are ahead offensively.”
The horns attack has been all about running. The passes have either been short quick passes that don’t require blocking or play action passes off of run fakes. The point is that there has been very little need of traditional pocket passing blocking. This has permitted the OL to focus on run blocking in practice reps and game snaps which has permitted the OL to improve their run blocking skills more rapidly than normal.
Harsin has also put more big guys in to block. Cody at FB is said to weigh over 260 pounds now. Luke at big TE weighs 295 pounds. A WR has been replaced by a TE who weighs 235ish. There is just a lot more beef on the field dedicated to blocking and a lot fewer small guys, this translates into better run blocking.
At TB, Bergeron weighs 230. Even at QB, Ash weighs 225 and is a strong, rugged guy. Foz is small but much stronger and definitely has more power than in previous years. The whole team that gets on the field is more powerful than in previous years.

The Sagarin computer predictor poll ratings have Texas at 10th place with 86.56 points. Mizzou is in 12th place with 85.9 points. Sagarin adds 3 points for the home team, which would put Mizzou at 88.9 points for the Texas game. That would make Texas about a 2 point underdog.
