Mike Gundy is about to become the third highest-paid coach in the Big 12.
Gundy has agreed to an eight-year extention that will boost his yearly take to just over $3.7 million. The new contract runs through 2019.
Right now only four D-1 football coaches make $4 million or more: Mack Brown ($5.19 million), Nick Saban ($4.833 million), Bob Stoops ($4.075 million) and Urban Meyer (new $4 million pact with Ohio State).
Gundy has been head coach at Oklahoma State since 2005, and he is 59-30 over that time. The last two years at his alma mater have been outstanding -- 23-3, including a 12-1 record this year with a Big 12 Championship and a Fiesta Bowl win.
Oklahoma State's history of success, or lack thereof, can be seen in that Gundy is already the 2nd winningest coach all-time, just three wins behind Pat Jones.
The Big 12 Championship is the first outright conference championship since the Cowboys won the Missouri Valley -- in 1948.
